Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL official Ali Fahour has been filmed committing a “sickening" king-hit attack on a rival.

As I understand it, The Chazz is arguing two separate points and people are replying as if they are one.

If I'm not mistaken, Chazz is saying a) "Fahour's hit was definitely a worse act than Bugg's, by a serious margin", and separately b) "Bugg's punch was watched but a few hundred thousand people as it happened, including all the nervous mum's and impressionable little kids, so the impact of the incident as a whole is greater.

Anyway, as for my own opinion on it all, I think the 'b' part fades a bit when you consider that Fahour's whole job is to encourage people from 'non-mainstream communities' to feel confident that they can participate in Australian Football without being subject to racial abuse and all the other forms of aggressive bigotry that someone might reasonably be anxious about. How can he possibly do that job when every person he speaks to whether community leader, nervous mum, or a club official skeptical of the usefulness of 'diversity action plans', knows he is a gutless sniping thug?

Bugg's incident may have been seen by a few hundred thousand, but Fahour's act will be known about by all of the few hundred people he needs to deal with in order to reach out to hundreds of thousands of others.

His specific job is now untenable. And it is questionable if AFL HQ should be employing anyone who would include premeditated headhunting in their weekend afternoon entertainment.

I've been very vocal about my disgust towards the actions of Bugg, but gees you can't even compare this low life scumbag to Bugg.

He should not just be sacked from his role, but banned from playing footy.

That is assault, if he did that in the street, he'd have a criminal record.

This is where your confusion is. Not once have I said the hit was worse. I'm talking about the incident. But continue to make things up if you wish, it's just that that's when I lose interest in speaking to you.

lol now you are arguing against your own post....

I asked you to list the ways you thought the "hit" was worse and you gave 3 examples. The hit  WAS the incident, so you cant decouple the 2.

Its there for all to see so your backtracking is pointless.

My apologies.  Not really room for misinterpretation, but I was meaning incident as opposed to the actual him, as correctly explained by Little Goffy above.  And yes, there is a different between the "hit" and the "incident", as I have explained many times previously.  Maybe "situation" would've been a better choice of words than "incident"?

This is the thing, Jaded.  What Bugg did, if he did in the street, is also assault.

Thanks, DC, will do.  I'm sure making tongue-in-cheek racist remarks is a much more entertaining anyway.

but it isn't on the street

95% of what happens on the field would technically constitute an assault off the field

The silence from the AFL is disgusting. The excuse that they are waiting for the Tribunal result is pathetic and irrelevant. There is enough evidence for them to take immediate action and remove him from his position. The AFL need to grow a pair.

He should be charged with assault, where are the police?

The AFL are embarrassing themselves by burying the head in the sand and just letting this play out.

That would involve charging someone "who has done so much* for a minority community" so wouldn't be seen as PC, by our PC PCs.

   * actually done nothing to alter / correct  what many do perceive as a violent streak in those who follow "the religion of peace and love."

Roger that, yes that would have made a difference, although i still wouldnt have said Buggs actions were in any way worse.

I have prepared a speech for Ali to read to the media bloodhounds....

Thank Yous all for coming to to hound me out of a job today,I appreciate it.

I was nearly going to resign a few days ago, but I wanted to sort out me compo first.

In light of the video of me involved in a brawl last week for the West Preston FC and the punishment received from the Northern League I will be retiring from football effective immediately.

Immediately after I square up one or two more guys next year.

My role as Diversity officer has been a complex and challenging one.Challenging mostly because I don't know what I am supposed to do ..The lunches have been awesome, and some of the night out were huge, all on the company credit card.

In the past when I had no work to do at work I would leak a private conversation and get somebody sacked which kept me pretty busy. Then i had to mingle with the suburban kids and get them interested in the safe and friendly game of AFL.

Now it seems my hypocrisy has been full exploited by someone with an iPhone.

I will learn from this experience and hopefully earn more money if the afl terminate my contract prematurely.

Thank yous all once again.

Just saw the footage after reading about it on a local footy forum. Filthy act and considering his position, the AFL should come down even harder on him. No excuses at all and he has a history, which would mean an even harsher penalty if he went in front of a proper tribunal.

Looking forward to seeing their response on this one.

a fact lost on the many unfortunately DC

There's a degree of premeditation in what we see of Fahour.

Typical 'little-man syndrome"  plus he's just obviously a DH !!

Good grief!

Fahour says how great a guy Houli is, then next week Houli is saying how great a guy Fahour is.  http://www.theage.com.au/afl/bachar-houli-defends-ali-fahour-ahead-of-afl-tribunal-hearing-20170705-gx58ol.html

Reminds me of the old adage 'birds of a feather stick together'!  I would have thought Houli would keep his head down given he is serving a 4 week suspension for knocking a player unconscious.

Neither of them are looking like great guys!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
