Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The club doesn't agree with you if you go by the Bluey results and I suggest the footy world doesn't either. Josh Gobson made the AA team doing a similar role to Jared. Nick Maxwell does the same.

Gibson and Maxwell are more than a shade better than Rivers, come on.. lets be realistic here ffs Id have either of those two over jared in a heartbeat.. Chip got AA..thats fair dinkum across the board recognition.

Bluey finishes are relative to our club only. Moloney has attained some cred generally across various polls whilst not too many others form the Dees did.

But back to Matt, I think hed go well at the Suns. A good fit actually. if they could take half baked fill-ins like Josh Fraser then Matty could be a star !!

The football department who were giving the votes have proven to be extremely incompetent, and were sacked. Bailey had no idea how to coach a side and develop players, or a game plan, so it is no surprise that he thought that Rivers was doing a great job. To have someone with such poor footskills playing loose in the backline in today’s football is an example of why Bailey was a pathetic coach.

Collingwood showed that they view Rivers as a liability when playing Melbourne, so it will be interesting to see how he is used under Neeld.

Back on topic, if Gold Coast want Warnock, I'd give them him and pick 12 for Toy, if the rumours about Toy wanting to move home are correct. Toy will be a gun, so it may take two picks (a compo), but he is exactly what Melbourne need off halfback, will be the next Luke Hodge.

Really? Gibson yes, Maxwell no. Maxwell may have leadership qualities, but plays fairly ordinarily in a backline that is hardly ever under siege.

And given Warnock's experience with Melbourne 2007-2009.........Perfect fit IMO.

Wow. Some extremely harsh assessments of Rivers there.

I couldn’t give a stuff about best and fairests – personally, I thought there were far better players than Moloney this year when things weren’t going our way – but I do think Rivers had a good year and is an important part of our team.

I think he improved his one-on-one play significantly, often made himself an option out of defence when the more creative Garland and Rivers were being “well-held” and played the old third man up role as well as he ever has. People have been declaring the death of the “kick it long” philosophy for many years, and have said that without indiscriminate kicking into the forward line, Rivers no longer has a place in the game. I disagree, but there’s no doubt it suits him to a tee. If the last few weeks of the year are anything to go by, “just kick it” footy is well and truly back in vogue.

I think his kicking is average, but nowhere near as bad as Warnock’s or Macdonald’s. He has a tendency to panic under pressure, but is neat with a bit of space.

Interesting to see what Neeld does with him. I’d be very surprised if he consigned him to Casey duties.

How do you know there weren't more than one club after him?

I dont but assuming that is where he wants to go if there is more than one club he could walk regardless. Unless one of those clubs is GWS, multiple clubs makes no difference.

Well I guess my point is you don't know. Like you, I'm not expecting much but I'm glad he's found a home.

My understanding is he could enter the Pre season draft, GC have first pick and they could take him for nothing.

So not expecting much if anything.

He gave us his best and we basically told him he was not wanted last season,

So Good luck Matthew I hope it all works well for you.

Better start reading the Mini Draft thread quick. Gone , gone , gone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mini draft picks can be on-traded... unlikely but they're still in play.

Not for long though and I would reckon the asking price would be even higher at both adelaide and gold coast.

Except that we could pressure on GC to give us something by dealing with say Carlton, Hawks or who ever else may be interested. Warnock would have to want to go but we could get a little "competitive tension" into the process

I think the round 2 pick that GC got for their trade for O'Meara is what we will get for Warnock

maybe this with a swap of picks also...maybe.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
