  1. It'll be pick 7 or 8 after bids, cursed lifted...!

  2. Just got back from training. Excellent news - Paxy took part in full training and seemed fine. 🤩 Hopefully she'll stay that way! Maddie Gay and Aimee Mackin started apart from the main group, then joined them for basic ball movement stuff, and then separated again during the final match simulation. They were both moving well with no apparent restrictions, especially Maddie. I had a brief chat with Aimee at the end and though she was a little non-committal about being right for Sunday did say she was tracking well and seemed positive. Rhi Watt was there but obviously took no part. Gaby Colvin showed up late (either doing some work indoors, overslept or didn't get the email about the earlier session 🤣), did a few run throughs and then headed back inside, so I don't think she's much chance for this week. Casey Sherriff was wearing the extra large wrist brace, so she's still obviously still having problems and her involvement was limited.

  3. We were stuffed in this game before it started. Adelaide and North have both shown that to beat Melbourne you need to be physical, and bring a lot of players to the ball. That stops us getting the ball out in space where we do damage. As soon as Paxy was withdrawn, it threw everything out. Putting Lily in there as a replacement rotation, is not the answer as she does not have the physical strength to combat opposition mids, and cannot kick or handball the ball sufficiently clear. Starting Purcell on the bench was a big mistake for the start. We just lost further grunt and skill when needed most. Don't blame the rucks, we were missing players beneath who could get the ball. Then losing Rhi Watt meant we were back to the old robbing Peter to pay Paul from there on. Zanker and Tayla dragged into the middle meant the forward line was lacking. Still, Eden has looked a long way off it in the past 2 weeks. 4 disposals to 3/4 time was way below par again. And without the ball getting to the outside, Bannan was starved of opportunity and we needed Tayla to provide a spar, but she was doing it all on her own. Georgia Gall won't be playing again this week. What was the free kick count? All one way, and is a good example of home town bias, which we will now face against Adelaide in coming weeks. That Brisbane kept getting frees for tackles and actions while their players get taken to the MRP for others not noticed gives a fairly good indication of the one way traffic.

  4. Hold onto the picks we have unless we can snag pick 1. I would much prefer two high quality players at 6 and 11 than one with pick 2/3.

  7. They aren’t great, probably the poorest they have been in years. WAFC concerned with the development and hired full time 18s coach, whilst also changing their training process. Bo Allan (Peel) and Malakai Champion(Subi) the only 2 who made the AIS squad. This time last year though Zakostelsky was unheard of so I expect a few will climb and announce themselves through the season Champion, Allan, Austin Van Der Struyf, Hamish Davis, Blake Kelly and Cody Angove (my bolter tip) the ones likely to be drafted

  8. McVee has excellent agility, it’s probably his equal best strength as a player to go with his defensive discipline. I don’t think he has contested ball strength nor accumulation to play midfield, but it’s also his first year at afl level so there’s no rush. Makes far more sense to try Riv who’s bigger, stronger, more established.

  10. Yep, it's why I think we play Goldie in the middle against these teams in particular. She has the strength to go with them. Lil is most definitely not the answer. I wouldn't also be against the idea of running Harris in short bursts as a mid to break things up a bit. We keep giving teams the same look. Mick talks about the teams flexibility, it's time to really show it. On another note, I hope Makin is back this week..she adds real X factor to the forward half that's been missing.

  13. Wiki Leake's first game of the talent league season as a full time forward. His hands in the marking contest weren't as clean as normal, but he competed hard in bringing the ball to ground. He stayed dangerous all game, contributing 4 goals and getting involved in scoring chains.

  14. Zanker has also had some excellent games as a mid in previous seasons. But Goldie in there for sure against Adelaide and Brisbane.

From the AFL website And only one team lost more close games than North Melbourne (2-5), with Melbourne (4-6) putting its supporters through several thrillers, including losing its two finals by a combined nine points. 22. Not sure this would be a significant block unless we are fighting for the same player. Footy fan speculation I've read suggest the Eagles are keen on McKercher. While I haven't heard anything concrete on us apart from our offer for Reid, we could very well be keen on Duursma. Therefore it wont matter who holds 2 or 3 if the end result is the same. Club targets will probably be well established and known between clubs which may help facilitate or hinder the deal.

  23. They possibly think that. I think 2023 3 > 2024 F1 by a small amount. Then it's 1 + 23 for 6 + 11 - that depends on the players available at 6, 11 and 23 (or where those picks end up. It probably needs to be 2 to WC and 3 to MFC but I'm partisan and want us to have first choice. I wouldn't do 6 + 11 for 3 but I would for 2.

  26. It was 2 minutes when I played club cricket back in the 70's and 80's and everyone was aware of the rule. In those days, the club kit might only have allowed to have 2 batsmen padded up, so if a couple fell quickly it was a rush to get padded up.

  27. Doesn’t have a tank, doesn’t two way run, don't believe he has the discipline to be accountable for his opponent, doesn’t win the hard ball. I will counter by saying you can get caught up in what players can’t do and overlook what they can do. His biggest strength is his pace and goal sense. He takes a grab and will tear teams apart if he’s given room inside 50. A lot of work to be done though and I don’t think he will handle being away from family well

  30. No Daise, a batsman only has two minutes starting from the fall of the previous wicket to him facing up. Of course, you see it all the time where a batsman takes a bit longer than two minutes but it isn’t an issue. It’s up to the captain of the fielding side to make an appeal to the umpire, which is something I’ve never seen happen. There’s some bad blood between these two sides which is probably why Shakib appealed. The umpire had no choice but to give him out.

  31. I take your point, i think 13 and 11 could easily go either way, and i don't think many at the MFC would be dissapointed with Windsor or O'Sullivan

  32. The Dwight phantom draft for 2023 - assuming no live trading, which there will be. Harley Reid (WCE) Jed Walter (GCS) Colby McKercher (NM) Zane Duursma (NM) Daniel Curtin (Haw) Nick Watson (WB) Ethan Read (GCS) James Leake (MFC) Nate Caddy (GWS) Riley Sanders (GEE) Caleb Windsor (ESS) Darcy Wilson (AFC) Conner O'Sullivan (MFC) I think Essendons greatest list need now is a classy, quick, pure wingman so they'll target Windsor with pick 11 Adelaide apparently really like Darcy Wilson and i expect their next pick they'll target Ollie Murphy and get another key back I have Conner O'Sullivan sliding due to Wilson, Leake and WIndsor all flying up the ranks I fully expect West Coast to trade pick 1 and us to attempt to move up the draft order in some capacity.

  35. It's not necessarily any of the topics that are off limits it's what they invariably devolve into that can be problematic. It becomes a minefield for moderation, which admittedly might be overly cautious but at the end of the day the moderation is tiresome because you will have a long post from someone which is 98% fine and then do you prune a potentially problematic part out or do you delete the whole post and then you get irate people complaining about being moderated and censored and on and on and on. Our mods aren't paid and they don't have the time to police every post and I had to make the difficult decision that these topics were not going to be discussed here because I don't want to have to face the consequences because someone wants to vent their frustrations and potentially libel someone or post a rumour that is damaging to the club or player or official. Wayne I get that you're not happy with the decision and the censorship but I've made my decision. You are not privy to some of the reasons for the decision and I cannot disclose them. I apologise that this has upset you. I hope you can forgive me in time when we celebrate our 14th flag and you can still celebrate it here.

  36. Even sadder, I was one of the OGs who migrated from the old platform and was a test user on this site when @Nasher was building it back in the day. He of course will deny this, but we are both much older and wiser now 😅

  37. The problem is that some posters are happy to stay in the lane of only what is in the public domain, but many others don't. You've seen it, we've all seen it happen in every one of these threads. So unless you want to volunteer to monitor every one of these threads 24 hours a day 7 days a week, there is just no other way to prevent these conversations from steering into the wrong lane and getting Andy into trouble. I would rather not see Demonland have to close down, and I am sure you wouldn't want to see that happen either.

  38. Just to be clear, Andy aka @Demonland doesn’t owe anyone anything. He pays to run this site so that sad MFCSS suffering losers (like me 😂), can spend too long chatting about irrelevant things relating to our football club. He has a job and a family and a life outside of this forum, as do the rest of the volunteers who run this site (shocking I know!), and he shouldn’t have to take any risks to his livelihood or his personal lives to satisfy the need of busy bodies. If you want to discuss rumours, innuendos and highly contentious issues freely, go to BigFooty or better yet start your own discussion board. I’ll be sure to pop by and write loads of content with the words culture in it.

  41. I think a deal could be: WC: In 3, 6, 11; Out: 1, 23, F1 North: In 1, 23, WC F1; Out, 2, 3 MFC: In: 2; Out: 6, 11

  42. You really are the Carl Ditterich of Demonland, 58er. You occasionally contribute worthwhile thoughts, but obviously feel compelled to 'take out' someone along the way. What Reevesy is saying is that if Curtain is available at 6 and we weren't going to pick him anyway, why not trade IF we had forewarned GWS and they'd agreed to the deal. Your continual sniping of posters is getting quite tiresome.

  43. COULD ANOTHER CLUB GET INVOLVED IN PICK 1 TALKS? That leads directly to the next point. If it’ll take two top 10 selections to get a deal over the line for the No. 1 pick – and the Roos aren’t willing to part ways with Picks 2 and 3 for just Pick 1 alone – what other clubs could get involved to help facilitate it? Though Melbourne and Hawthorn have also been linked to Pick 1, it’s widely considered it’ll either move to North Melbourne or no one given the Roos hold the best package of picks. According to Ablett, the Demons are the club to watch in having a potential “role to play”. Melbourne holds Picks 6 and 11 in this year’s draft, landing the former as part of last year’s Luke Jackson trade. Would the Demons be willing to make an offer of, say, Pick 2 for selections 6 and 11? The Roos could then offer West Coast a deal based around Picks 3 and 6 in a potential win-win for all parties. “I’ve always been pretty steadfast, I think the Melbourne footy club have a role to play here. I have a feeling that Pick 6 is going to be key to getting this deal done,” Ablett said. “I don’t think the Kangaroos want to give up Picks 2 and 3, as much as I’m sure if they did, we’d see the deal get done pretty quickly. “I think Pick 6 has got a part to play.” In effect a three-way deal could be completed: - Melbourne gives 6 and 11, gets 2 - North Melbourne gives 2 and 3, gets 1 and 11 -West Coast gives 1, gets 3 and 6
    1 point
  44. Always is. It appears the Roos won’t give up 2 & 3 for 1 and may have privately moved on and will use their multiple first round picks to help their rebuild. Hawks haven’t got enough to do the deal. We are an option for WC, but it all depends on Curtin getting to 6. This deal is looking unlikely. I am now wondering if WC blinks and tells the Roos they will take 2 and a few later first rounders, just to try and maximise 1 and help their rebuild, which is well behind the Roos’. I think WC needs more for 1 than one Victorian likely star, but with a highly possible go home factor. I am not convinced that is the maximum for the pick and WC needs the maximum.

  45. We were a whole lot closer to the mark than a semi final exit would suggest in my view, we probably SHOULD have won both finals, but didn't handle the big moments all that well and missed some big chances. also one of our better players getting knocked out early in a final by an action that was at best, ridiculous doesn't help anything. i know it's a controversial view but i think it speaks directly to the integrity of the AFL competition that they forgot about Brayden Maynards duty of care to Gus conveniently because he's an important player to Collingwood during a finals series. I would be very very confident that would have been a suspension if it was a St Kilda player and it was during the season

  46. @Nascent Cooper Simpson at 17. He’s a hard one to consider where he will get drafted. I think around mid 2nd round but could be a surprise late first rounder given his strong 2022, overall midfield package (pace, skill, tenacity) and his leadership. Injuries didn’t help his 2023. He apparently impressed the Dees with his training apprenticeship last year at the club.
