  1. Fair enough Billy, but I won't be leaving my club because some players do, no matter who they are and including Clarry, my favourite player. I also think the club may know more about our players, than we do from the outside.

  2. Looks like you were right. However after a lifetime supporting this club, given what I have invested emotionally, I will never give up on them, even if Clarry, my favourite player leaves and anyone else for that matter. I have made my bed with the Dees and I will lie in it forever.

  7. It's hard to remember a time in recent years where I've been angrier with this football club. I back and support this club always, but letting Pert throw Clarry under the bus, when he's worked his behind off and is well loved by his teammates, is just utterly putrid. Where the [censored] is our list manager, coach and football manager? Because I don't remember the last time a CEO has made list management decisions.

  8. Maybe let's start by keeping the CEO out of list management decisions? If this is not a ploy to remove Pert, I am seriously starting to question whether this club is capable of running a donut stand, let alone a football club.

  9. Tom Campbell reportedly prefers to stay delisted than join Demons on the back of this

  10. Fox is correct, Tom is my next door neighbour whom I tried to get him to Demonland 5 years ago , after he was sacked by the Dogs.He will be doing a medical this week at the club, but he WILL be at Demonland .He is looking forward to working with Gawn. He will make a great understudy , but he will be an excellent clubman and coach of the younger ones.

  11. Michael Gleeson has reported on it. Read the article. One of the few journalists who has maintained credibility over a long career and doesn't chase a controversy for the clicks. He's weighed in because he firmly believes what he has heard. It's the club that has started this. Clayton is on the market for the second year in a row at the clubs request. Clubs don't trade their best players for no reason, Clayton being traded is what the club believes is the best idea. He has less value now than he did last year and we will get unders in return. As reported, the club is in crisis. It's time for us to accept it and stop trying to blame McClure, Morris and Gleeson for telling us the truth. A sad time for the club, but the club lives on and the sun will rise tomorrow.

  12. Geez, quite thoughtful by the AFL to schedule a Grand Final in between the Demon diaries.

  13. They don't have to disclose anything, it's an anonymous forum where we discuss the MFC. I don't take much interest in club politics or the board but this court case has shown we've been basically running a closed shop at board level. I also find it incomprehensible that our CEO can refuse a donation from a paid up member as has been suggested here. Can anyone on here seriously say that the club as a whole hasn't dropped the golden egg that our 21 Premiership offered? We've got issues from top to bottom all playing out in the public arena, we currently look like the problem child, I've no doubt sponsors are scratching their heads.

  16. I like to think i don’t overreact often but if Clarry goes I won’t be following footy for a while, maybe for many years. He is our greatest player since Robbie. Second best ever imo I have waited my life for a midfield gun that every other team had in the 90’s and 2000’s
    11 points
  17. Clarry told his management he would like to see how this move could look/work Happy to stay but assessing his options. Geelong surely wouldn't have $1M in cap sapce to pay him with Smith coming across.

  18. Doesn't really bother me IF other clubs are into Clarry. They'd be mad not to. Geelong will take Bailey, and simply don't have anything to give us. Sometimes I wander past the Ferrari showroom and stick my face to the window and point. Doesn't mean diddly squat. FWIW Geelong can shove their interest right up the back entrance of their $340m funded stadium. Anyhoo, all the interest in Clarry, generally, simply means other clubs what our club would know - that he has immense value and WILL return to his best next year. Otherwise they wouldn't be asking. We love Clarry and Clarry loves us, and the journos pushing this garbage are gutter rats. Fugazi. Ignore.

  19. I doubt Pert would be running some shadow operation that is unknown to Goodwin, Green, Taylor, Lamb and Richardson. If he is the point man for shopping Oliver around, I think they would know about it.

  20. It's mind-boggling how some posters are supportive of Pert arguing he's met his KPIs. If culture, a training base, growing the membership base, sponsorships and financials are in his wheelhouse (clue, they are), he's been an ordinary appointment.

  23. Well unless we are trying to offload his contract to make space for another mega star player, this will absolutely not fly with supporters. Would you be happy with trading Clarry for unders, watch him help Geelong contend YET AGAIN, and all we get out of it is salary cap relief which we don't need? The members of this club have spoken loudly this year. We lost 10,000 members, and attendance dropped off. Trade Clarry for unders and watch the bottom fall out. IF we trade Clarry, it has to result in someone very good coming back in return. Not more mid tier draft picks.

  27. So despite agreeing, as I understand it, to the first three points of Mr Lawrence's case, namely: The practice of fulfilling casual vacancies before shortly before an election where those appointed then nominate for the upcoming election, Failing to properly notify all members when nominations for board elections were open, Board endorsement of the existing directors running for election The board has now gone back to the previous practice of fulfilling casual vacancies before an election and endorsing existing directors. Along with the Oliver trade mess of 2023-24, the Petracca mess in 2024, the JS affair, the Oliver trade talk again now, board resignations, the diminished performance this year, the lack of independence in the review, the other court cases, and the continual delay to a training base (it's still just a concept), tell me why the board is doing such a great job? Just interested as a "neutral supporter" observer in all this. ,

  28. Morris says Melbourne are saying one thing publicly (he's ours) and something else privately. Gleeson is essentially saying the same thing when he reports sources saying Pert has been asking about for takers. There is a uniformity about these reports that I think is disturbing and if it is Pert at the root of it then he can buzz off. Footy Department is not his territory. Those criticisms of Pert from Collingwood are starting to resonate. Happy for him to go now and bring back Josh Mahoney from the Bombers to be the CEO footy people wanted originally.

  29. This is a scathing article. It suggests that the club has tried floating Clarry’s name, then regretted it, and now is trying to walk it back. It’s inconsistent with what Jon Ralph has reported, and isn’t even consistent with McClure (McClure said Clarry wanted out, Gleeson says we’ve started this). But if it’s true, it is not good.

  30. Because trading away a star player in order to appease another is not being lenient or bending over backwards? The minute players are driving list management decision, is the minute you need to shut up shop.

  31. Outside of Max Holmes, there is nothing Geelong can really offer that i'd seriously look at. I'd rather back Clarry in to return to his best form with a full pre-season
    9 points
  32. Oliver has no price. He is priceless. Let the man have a pre season, and without broken bones in his hands... and he simply wins our BnF and is the centre in the All-Aus team. There is no price. And to even entertain it is just... nauseating. If it happens, in whatever form, I'm simply done.

  36. I had a good chat with one of our assistant coaches a couple of months ago and he told me that Clayton had made his mind up to leave last year and wanted out for various reasons but mainly his injury management and also wasn’t in a good headspace which then turned into what happened this pre season. The club had to work really really hard to convince him to stay. Now this . The Cats have been trying to get him for two years now.

  37. A review that’s being undertaken by Pert. Give me a break. If they don’t trust these guys to make decisions, then sack them and bring experienced people in their place. I have zero confidence in the ability of a CEO to make list management decisions. It’s why he’s not, wait for it, a list manager! 🙄

  39. Mmm. Brisbane, go to Vegas, all hell rains down between players and partners and they lose their first 5 or 6. They then straighten up, pull themselves together and smash out a premiership. Melbourne.... Shopping around a once in a generation player after spending a season getting him back on track because another player that wants to leave, trashes the club and then realises he can't leave....yet, doesn't like said other player. So he demands said player gets shipped off and our CEO hanging out in Noosa while doing an intensive review of the club puts a post up on Facebook marketplace just to see who wants to kick the tyres. And it's likely we'll trade the once in a generation talent out to a club who is expert in taking senior players from other clubs and getting the absolute best out of them. Am I reading this right so far? Why bother with the review? We definitely appear incapable of cookin doughnuts.

  40. Nup if Clarry goes I’m done, been a member since 89, the Petracca, Oliver & Kozzie rumblings will be enough Im disappointed beyond words to see what is happening to the club three years after a premiership

  41. We forget, Tom started and worked with Will Minson and helped develop Tim English at the Dogs, He went to North Melb under Will Minson, understudy to Todd Goldstein and helped to develop talls in Larkey and Cobden along with Xerri. He left and became understudy to Marshall and helped in development of Heath ,Haynes etc.He is a great clubman ,winning St Kilda’s best clubman last year and never played a senior game. Not a champion footballer but a champion bloke whom will give his best, and develop the young ones…They will look up to him, respect him and great for the culture and development of our young talls especially with Stafford going. He will be a great assistant to our new midfield and new ruck/ forward coach moving forward.Only downer is we live in Kensington , along way from Cranbourne. He has been working at the AFL after being recommended by Laura Kane..Great credential’s for us to rebuild, in my opinion.

  42. If the club thinks we should rebuild around our young players, why sign Viney long term? Why keep Langdon? Why not also trade Trac? Why chase Houston? Oliver just turned 27. That’s prime age for a midfielder. Cripps won two Brownlows in his 30s.

  43. So 24 hours ago the club via Richo releases a statement claiming Oliver is a required player and we look forward to seeing him in red and blue next year and beyond. 24 hours later we have 4 different leaks, suggesting the club is pushing Clarry to look at this options after Pert rang around clubs to see if they’d be interested. Make it make sense, because as far as I can tell, those are two different positions being taken by two different parts of the club.

  44. If he's being shopped around, I don't know that any of us know the reasons. The internal workings and the internal dynamics of a playing group and club are not generally accessible to the wider public. But to throw my own baseless speculation into the ring, I do wonder whether deep down here at some level the club has decided to close-off on this playing group and look to rebuilding around the next group down (JVR, Rivers, Judd, Windsor etc) plus going to the draft - and in particular this draft which apparently has plenty of talent. We've got Pick 5, perhaps we can massage our way into a second first-round pick. But if we could get a third first-rounder as well, it could go a fair way to setting us up long-term. So ... Oliver: getting older, would get us some decent picks plus clear salary space. Also, much as we love him, he's not bringing leadership or a wise head either - and this when we've lost Gus and ANB. Random thoughts.

  47. There’s plenty of evidence as to his fitness/injuries to explain why he didn’t step up this year. Surely we wait to see if a proper pre-season makes a difference rather than shipping off for unders.
