Of course knowing our luck it’s some sort of rare hamstring injury that only 3 people on earth have sustained and all 3 ended up with a full leg amputation 😂14 points

Light duties, BBB, Bowey, Fritta, and Hibbo. Oliver is not at training. Petty in rehab. Harmes is full training. No sign of Verrall. K.Turner has joined main group after individual warm up, so has BBB, and Bowey. Kye is now back in rehab14 points

So retaliation works, does it? Like JVR giving away a goal. I'd much rather retaliate on the scoreboard.14 points

It’s almost like the team has been instructed not to get involved in any ‘flying the flag’ because it detracts from the next play and players getting to position if they get sucked into that type of stuff. But there’s definitely still a time and place for it in terms of getting some mongrel and venom into the team on game day. I love Max but I’m starting to see him flop around - almost staging for free kicks rather than holding his ground and looking to hurt the opposition or at least intimidate with more aggression. The overall fear factor of the team has sadly and substantially waned this year. Time to inject the mongrel back into the mindset of our players. King has a point.14 points

He is moving OK, but only short movements. No strapping and feeling the top of his left quad. Scared and fell I'm imposing if I take his attention away from what he is doing. Oliver has entered the field, doing some resistance work and also going a bit harder. Now a bit more, does some switching with his steps, looking comfortable, all smiles, and Petty who is close by gives him a hug. He has put on a stretch strapping and doing some slow 50 meter run throughs under a timer. Carrying a ball, doing small kicks, Tracc has a hand slap with him, looking positive and on the low side of grading.13 points

There may be some passing interest in whether Clayton Oliver is training...13 points

The levels of hysteria in this thread are actually laughable....Breathe people! Of course we are not going to find a like for like replacement for Clarry! We have been way too predictable to opposition teams with our midfield setups. Without Clarry we get a chance to evolve. Of all our young players this year i think Rivers has been the one that really upped his output/effort. Throw him in the midfield for the next month.... we might actually develop a balanced inside/outside player with skills and toughness to match. This team has been carried by Oliver for a long time. He gives 100% every week. You don't need to be as gifted or talented as him....BUT we are going to need the whole team to collectively lift and play closer to the 100% that each are capable of. (Many in the team are just cruising atm....Maybe we will just be better without him as the penny drops for some within the team?13 points

I would have to be at gunpoint to listen to that thick-necked windbag. Life is too short. First Crack? Could think of a few libellous puns to rename that show.13 points

Took a while to spot him, Dunstan is in full training mode. I think they are testing him out physically. One of the last to leave the paddock, after doing some low ball gets.12 points

Three time premiership coach. Pioneered a style of game we called chaos ball. Deserves respect. Has left Richmond as a stronger club than when he started.11 points

Can’t wait for the Tribunal genius to say at the Tribunal hearing, that Hunter in a split second, should have realised, that standing still had the potential to injure, without suggesting what he should have done instead. I still think the contact was to the chest as well. I hope we can also show the Rankine and Hayward incidents and ask if the Tribunal see them as different to the Hunter incident and deserving of penalties.11 points

Just like Steven May. We'll find out soon enough. Thanks very much Kev for your time and efforts to report back. Much appreciated.11 points

Glad we are challenging. MRO hates us and I’m sick of it.10 points

I think what was more damning was our stoppage work and post clearence stuff. Players like Oliver getting sucked into the contest and then having no accountability and respect for their opponents who simply just ran off them. It's no wonder Rozee kicked that last goal in thr end because our mids in general paid no respect whatsoever. All comes down to attitude and mindset.10 points

Kozzie got 2 weeks for potential to injure, after jumping up, but not injuring and with the victim patting him on the bum and smiling. Hayward jumps up, hits the victim in the face, a first gamer btw, puts him on his back, injured slightly and stuns him for a while and gets off scott free. How is actually injuring, while doing exactly the same action no penalty, while not injuring but having potential to injure 2 weeks. This is worse than chook lotto, it’s imbeciles at play.9 points

If you freeze the clip at the beginning of the 3 sec. mark, you can clearly see Hunter trying to stop his momentum. All his weight and body positioning is trying to go away from Rozzie. At the same time there is about a metre between them and Rozzie is not looking at the ball but at Hunter. I'm becoming more and more convinced that Christian views and reports these incidents while watching the footage in real time and listening to the "expert" commentary. Either that or he's just not that bright.9 points

What? How can there be damage and recovery all within 48 hours? What sort of wizard is Oliver?9 points

Had a chat to to a volunteer after the session. He reckons Oliver, will be out for 4 weeks, JJ or Harmes to come in, and that Dunstan is still struggling with his knee.9 points

Viney went hard at Boak in a contest. Boak was subbed out as a result. The umps actually paid free kicks against Port for blatant blocking of Max. First time I've seen that happen. Wish they'd do it more often. Port always use this tactic on Max. Sometimes it works. sometimes it doesn't. I wouldn't be getting sucked in too much as it benefits Port. Go hard when it's your turn which I'm not sure we're doing at the moment. If we do down the path of softening up some players i suggest we put an X on the back of Powell Pepper and make sure we get a dig in whenever we're close to him. He deserves it.9 points
-
I'm not sure...Port have been targeting Max for a number of years now. They were prepared to give away a few free kicks because the tactic works. First & foremost Max needs to look after himself by taking the game on. He's a big boy. If he goes up another level then the tactic fails, but he didn't. His game was off which ensures he will get more of the same. As for the team, they need to up the pressure rating in these games then maybe flying the flag wouldn't be necessary. The opposition would be more concerned with getting a kick away & hitting a target.9 points

And on the MRO who is totally inconsistent with his deliberations. How Rankine and Hayward aren’t cited for worse actions and outcomes, in the same weekend, is just bewildering .9 points

You are just plain wrong. The way that Rozee went for that ball is dangerous to himself and his opponent. Im at junior footy training every week and they practice coming in sideways and staying in your feet. A few kids had some very nasty head clashes last year coming in the same way that Rozee did, so they are told off if they try and be too courageous and dive head first for the ball. If Rozee comes in more with his body, he collects Hunter below the knee and gives away a free. Hunter was just caught in no man’s land, which happens if you are 2nd guessing yourself in a 50/50 situation. Had he not pulled up, Rozee would have been KO’d. This is not a run past the ball hit, it’s Cleary a player changing their reaction to all the rule interpretations on head related incidents.9 points

Sad news, he was my favourite post loss "presser" coach of all time and this year was going to be a big one for me and him. Oh well8 points

You mean giving one ex Collingwood player with an agenda all the power to decide what is and isn’t a suspendible offense isn’t working? I am shooketh.8 points

Fair play to BG in his media conference today. Not only did he use the indigenous names for both clubs playing this weekend but also reminded them of the significance of the round when they attempted turn the narrative into us roughing up LJ. Best of all he gave them SFA about any potential injury to Clarry or Fritta. That club polo he's modelling is horrible though.8 points

Good to hear. I presume they will argue Hunter was moving towards the ball and then stopped and turned as Rozee lurched fwd to hit the ball away. Effectively he cannoned into Hunter. Plus the impact level was not medium as he went on to star in the game. At least thats how I saw it.8 points

For the last part of this segment, Montagna suggested that Melbourne should give the AFL a heads up on this treatment. We should absolutely be doing this because as soon as the umps start paying some free kicks on this, you’ll see opposition teams stop this in a heartbeat.8 points

Honestly Max need to harden up and retalliate sometime himself. He had Powell-Pepper and Butters doing most of the bumping and annoying. Both are half his size. If he does not react himself how are others in the team to even know it is happening? Max tends to be right off every time this happens. Here is a tip though Melbourne....You defend your own...Every player. Get in there and fly the flag for your captain. Watching the game it appeared we gave them the initiative for 3 quarters. The only time we really fired up was in the 3rd quarter when there was probably the most niggle in the game. Starting a brawl can change momentum and get players cracking in that much harder. I think we missed a trick by not reacting to all the niggle he received on the day...Maybe next time!8 points

All set up down here at Gosch's, no players yet. Any questions or particular observations from me, or for me about training are welcome.7 points

Good on him for choosing his time. He goes out with a record that any would envy. He rebuilt a club from rock bottom, kept the wolves at bay and came out a three time premiership coach. And in the end the media never got him! That is a brilliant career.7 points

This is the guy that held back a teenager so his teammate Wallis could punch him. Yup real warrior. What a fighter. Tough as nails. Dont let the door hit you on the way out, im sure the team and everyone that depends on you will be fine despite you dont want to honour a contract that pays you exactly what you signed up for. Sorry, not sorry.7 points

Thanks Kev and all posters that is great that Clayton was able to get on the track at least and great that we have posters that have the experience to put forward great anecdotal observations re timeframes and injury types. Greatly appreciated.!!7 points

No way Oliver is able to do these straight away after a hamstring tear. A tear has too much discomfort when walking etc. It's either badly tight or at least a low grade hamstring strain which could be 2-3 weeks max.7 points

All those losses happened in the first 9 rounds, when they were 5 and 4. So they lost all their games without him. But then won 13 in a row, with a soft home-slanted draw (especially for a preliminary finalist) in the second half of the season.7 points

Focused, all gathered together, and as they were out late onto the paddock, I presume the review was extensive.7 points

We should do everything we can to beat Collingwood - i mean everything. If we beat them, It will be a season defining moment - similar to beating Geelong in Geelong. . it will seed some doubt in their game and automatically reinvigorate our tilt at the flag. Id even accept a 1-2 into the bye with the win coming from the Pies - that is how significant that scalp will be.7 points

Who knows, but you have to raise the flag. We missed Sparrow in this regard and at the contest.7 points

Saints player Caminiti been offered four matches by the MRO after he brutally knocked out his teammate Mitch Owens. The AFL in the hysterical fear of litigation and trying to be seen as eliminating head contact has deemed Caminiti’s actions and careles, high and severe. The MRO deemed any reasonable person who jumps at the ball should be held responsible for their actions6 points
