  1. Enough already. We get it, you don't rate him. No need to repeat it 10 times over. The way you talk about our players ('Jones a has-been') is pathetic. Criticism and discussion of a player's shortcomings is fine, but repeated three-word posts that say 'X is a spud' contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion.

  2. I really don’t like us constantly calling our players ‘spuds’. Paging Werridee, you’ve have made it abundantly clear via umpteen posts in this thread alone, that you think he is one (a spud) but remember he is one us, trains hard, bleeds red and blue every time he represents us in battle. Give Charlie a chance ? you never know he might surprise us all.

  3. It's got nothing to do with being a mod. You're not going to get banned for posting like a primary school kid. I just don't like seeing MFC champions disrespected (Jones) and other players repeatedly abused ad nauseam (Spargo).

  4. Spargo was good in 2018 after a commendable debut. He was rubbish in 2019 along with the rest of them. Glad he’s getting another crack.

  7. This game will be no walk in the park. Some of the comments on here saying we should beat them easy have seriously no idea. This is the kind of game that on paper we should beat easily, but we don't. I don't mind the selections. People making out like Spargo is the worst footballer in the league is downright just [censored] poor form. The kid only played off in a prelim as an 18 year 2 years ago against the eventual premiers. He's lost his way a little, but he's got the work rate to work his way back into form. He had an absolute shocker in round 1, but willing to give him another guy because he brings added pressure into our forward line. What worries me is that we legitimate don't have a genuine ruckman. McDonald has the tank to play as a ruckman, but don't expect many hitouts. Needs to really get on his bike and outwork Goldstien. Brayshaw, Harmes, Sparrow. The opportunity is right in front of them now to grab the midfield spot and take it with both hands. First time our 2019 draftees in Jackson, Rivers, Pickett will played together for the first time in red and blue. We are the only club this year to have all of our draftees playing in the same game. Another good tick for Jason Taylor and his crew.

  8. Based on the Crows game, I'd be giving it to May.

  9. We’ve had the best injury run of any club in 2020. No excuses.

  10. But we are in Adelaide not Tassie and they also have Ziebell, Cunnington and Brown out, who have played against us in the last few close losses.

  11. More than the Crows game, he has been a leader all year. If Max and Jack are out I can’t see anyone else who is more qualified.

  12. I can't believe there is no thread on this so Uncle Bitter will tackle the hard issues. We, the mighty Dees were done over, a few years ago for bringing the game into disrepute. This week one of our players was done over for a sling tackle. The AFL rabbits on about player safety, equality, fairness, sexual harassment , racial vilification etc. Now we have a big brand name - Richmond, splashed around in the media, for what could be described ( at best) as gross year 8 schoolyard behaviour . Is this the look the AFL wants? I'm guessing not! What penalties will be imposed on those who have breached the very behaviours the AFL has committed to stamp out? Over to you Gil.

  13. Glad to see our exciting draft trio of Pickett, LJ and Rivers are all back in the team together.

  14. This is one of the single worst takes I've ever seen on Demonland, and that's saying something.

  15. Come off it mate. You mean like North declaring Brown wouldn't play yesterday? The teams are announced in less than an hour.

  18. Thanks Uncle....Pruess sitting around for this exact scenario but let's bring back T-Mac . Just as LJ was finding some touch up forward let's throw him into the ruck against the hulking Goldy so he can get mashed. There's an old saying i live by ..."If you don"t be bloody stupid you'll be alright".

  19. Good grief i have been waiting all evening for this Spargo and T mac Selection equals committee lost plot Tmac is not right cant run cant catch cant turn cant kick the game has passed him by Spargo is vertically challenged with zero footy smarts Why employ Preuss if not for this scenario Tmac has played and shown nothing. Preuss at least may really want to play and perform against his old club gobsmacked>

  20. And if we can't beat North without Brown, Ziebel, Cunnington and possibly Daw..ditto.!

  21. Time for Gus to shine. No Viney means no reason not to give him 80% time on ball and let him carry on with his good second half form from last week. Unless I’m reading my Instagram wrong it looks like Tom is still in QLD so I don’t think he will play. Could be wrong or they could fly him over with the North players. It’s not the end of the world for me if Jackson and Tomlinson share the ruck duties.

  22. A drop in numbers was to be expected after 2019 was so bad. To drop by that amount is disappointing though. I remain strongly of the view that if you can financially afford a membership but choose not to as some sort of "protest" against the club, you are doing the club more harm than good.

  23. Regrettably seems my mail was correct. If we didn't take Preuss with us to Adelaide, despite knowing Gawn was in danger of not being able to play either/both games, that's horrendous IMO. What's worse is it means TMac will get back in, presumably with Jackson playing Gawn's role and TMac playing Jackson's. Disastrous result: Jackson might not be fit enough to play 1st ruck, and his opponent is a top 5 ruckman this season, and TMac's horribly out of form. Fingers crossed we have Preuss available and we can put him in Gawn's spot. Structurally much better result. Viney out should mean Brayshaw and Harmes spend more time in the middle. I'd put Harmes on Higgins and bring Rivers in to play Harmes' defensive role. Jetta to replace Lockhart if Lockhart's injured. Pickett for ANB, maybe Hannan for Benell too, so could see 4-5 changes.

  24. Guessing Brayshaw goes into the centre for the whole game which just might be a good thing.

  25. Makes the decision to play him against the crows even more perplexing

  26. Every week there are close games but we are going to absolutely rue the games lost to Geelong and Brisbane.

  27. With either Bennell or Hannan off the bench. This is what I've wanted our forward line to look like for ages.

  28. Hah. No such thing in the AFL, they just change to rules.

  29. Played Round 1 (6 months ago) and hasnt been seen since. I would love to see him play tomorrow night. Thats if he is even in the hub. Pickett and Bedford both in the team please now that we have two exciting talls (Weid and LJ) providing a nice contest. Two talls - LJ ,Weid Two mid sized forwards - Fritsch, Melk Two small forwards - Pickett, Bedford Its a nice mix.

  30. One thing we haven't seen is Petty and Weideman up forward. I rate Petty's body of work as a forward last year and if its one thing he has over Weid its his one touch grab. Jackson, Petty, Weideman. A potential good forward line to build around.

  31. I agree with your last point, about him being an awful player, but it doesn’t detract from the clear evidence that there are rules for some players/clubs and the same does NOT apply to others. You simply can’t deny that. It is reasonable to compare it Burgoyne on Danger, as it was the exact same action. He was fined. So because of the concussion it goes to 4 weeks? Really? That’s excessive. It’s 2-3 at most.

  32. Does Ward deserve a fine for his dive? I’m in two minds, I hate divers but I also love seeing Essendon lose after a dodgy free kick is paid against them.

  33. Exactly the Absolute Farce League rolls on. It's a massive jocks club, if you're not one of the popular ones you get hung out to dry. No way Dusty, Cotchin, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Neale etc etc get 4 weeks for the same incident. Only some relative no name like ANB because the AFL can be seen to be tough on "dangerous tackles". The club should challenge on the grounds the Tribunals decision was excessive and refer to previous incidents as precedence. He didn't even have both arms pinned which is usually the litmus test for dangerous sling tackles.

  34. My wife and I were lucky enough to be at the game. That little man McHenry was running in and hitting Max over 50m off the ball, when he was in the forward line. Was absolutely disgraceful.

  35. Is it too pedantic to point out that the correct word is "precedent" rather than "precedence" ?
    3 points
  36. Yes they did. It's what the AFL always do. Instead of enforcing their own rules properly, they (in a fit of something approaching a guilty conscience) tack another rule on top, expecting that to improve things. If they wanted to stamp out such tackles, they would penalise any tackle with the potential to cause concussion. Sending a message to all players: do not attempt this kind of tackle. Instead they do the very AFL thing of only penalising the ones that actually do cause concussion, creating another rules grey area, which will inevitably be greyed further some time in the future, with another rule change.

  37. Hes third or fourth in the AFL in goals per game. if he had played all season he would be up there with the Coleman leaders. Wouldn't that be something. Its so awesome to see his improvement, theres nothing better than seeing a big young forward come into their own and start clunking marks and kicking goals. He will snag 5 or 6 in a game very soon.

  38. If Weid had played from round 1 like he bloody should have then he would easily be winning our goal kicking. Actually don't be surprised if he does. In good form.

  40. I thnk every side thinks they can beat Melbourne. Particularly the bottom sides. Pressure them hard early and they will fold. Its been a recipe for success over the years. The Crows tried it.

  41. Yes, and after this clip over the head, Derm and Kingy were very jovial about him ‘wearing one’, after spending half time talking about having to protect the head. How contradictory! They also had no reaction to the instance when May was bumped heavily in the head while picking up the ball and no free kick was awarded. Apparently that sort of attack on the head is fine with Kingy and Derm. I found the narrative repulsive last night on Fox. There are too many commentators on that channel with a clear hatred of the MFC

  43. Finally we have a coach who is telling it how it is and putting the AFL/ umps on notice that we've had enough. Very happy to see SG finally letting it rip in public just as Clarkson does pretty much every other press conference. Especially given we apparantly took it to the AFL behind closed doors earlier but of course, nothing changed. The club needs a strong voice both on and off the field and a united one. No more AFL whipping boy. Keep it up Mr Goodwin ?
