Thank you Satyricon. I remember the time MFC were preparing for our preliminary game and there you were in the inner circles of the club at the last Gosch's paddock run. Meaning, the club absolutely trust you, your social skills and keeping confidentiality. I find you are generous with your time and dedicated to our cause. As I read the forums, you are more than happy to respond to questions about the team and in-fact encourage our involvement. I believe you would get to a 4.30am training if it was scheduled. You make it to most trainings even in inclement weather conditions. That droll wit and sarcasm are great. Your pics, summations and most post are needed and appreciated. As are your insights and inside information. Thank you again for your efforts, posts and follow-ups.23 points

They started early again. I arrived as they were doing simulations. On the sidelines, our Chairman Bartlett as well as, Taylor, Mahoney, Richardson and Goody. They were regularly chatting away. Five coaches took the training. Mainly Mathews in the centre with the support of Chaplin, Egan, Rooke, Plapp and Stafford. Goody and Richardson watching on. The senior members included Tom Mcdonald, Max Gawn and Nathan Jones. Neville Jetta and Aaron Nietschke training in rehab. Jake Lever was running laps. Plenty missing today. Steven May, James Harmes, Jack Viney, Angus Brayshaw, Michael Hibberd, Jake Melksham, Mitch Hannan, Aaron Vandenberg, Sam Wiedeman, Oskar Baker, Jayden Hunt, Alex Neal-Bullen, Harrison Petty, Oscar Mcdonald, Josh Wagner, Austin Bradke, Ed Langdon, Adam Tomlinson and Harley Bennell. The simulations were of two types. Handball by the midfielders and a release when called by the coaches using half the field and 3/4 field with the ball starting in the backline. Interesting to see Joel Smith and Tom Sparrow working in the backline. Thought Jones was doing a lot of talk out there organising the plays. Our leads were very good as was the ball movement, The coaches encouraged the players to maintain their 'corridors'. After simulations, they went into the running programs. The bigger players running through the middle, end to end and the others put through gruelling 400 meter sprints. I really felt for them as it was repetition upon repetition. A few sat out some runs and in the last couple they were all running the 400's except for Jones who continued his end to end. After running, the elders finished up and the 1-5 yearers did ball drills at various stations. The young ones were very boisterous especially enjoying the drills that were competitive. I thought Clayton Oliver led the way in being exuberant, and they all seem to be energetic in between drills. I noticed a couple of players with niggles. Charlie Spargo picked up some calf soreness after a collision and had to leave the field. Kade Chandler had his left Knee strapped and was proppy at one stage. Joel Smith was holding his hip and didn't complete the running. Hopefully he is just on his own program. Standouts I thought were Tom Mcdonald, Kade Chandler, Nathan Jones, Clayton Oliver, Christian Salem and Christian Pettraca. There was a nice moment when Jetta welcomed Nathan back to training.11 points

Thanks @kev martin will miss your excellent reports I just get bored with the small minority on here who want to turn every thread into a pissing contest I post on this board for the reason you do, to keep posters, who unlike you and me, can't get to training or meetings etc Unfortunately it means having to put up with the minority, what I do find so amusing is their inability to put me on ignore or block, thought that would be the ideal solution, to rid them of the angst I obviously cause them9 points

Only in media and fans eyes. Pro recruiters will have had a view all along but it's not in the public domain. "Sliders" is a nuff nuff concept, if 10 clubs in a row don't select a player then that's where they're rated, but it only takes one club to really like a particular player for him to go earlier than expected so a "bolter" is possible.6 points

I really like Saty's reports and pics. And those of @Earl Hood@Big Kev@DeeSpencerand all other folk whose names I don't recall, who go to training and report back. Especially in the off-season when there is little demon related news or first hand info. Thanks one and all6 points
-
Could not agree more. I'm based up in Qld and appreciate ALL reports be they from Saty, Kev or someone else. I take their respective views on training as beneficial and those people that wish to bag Saty and anyone else that give us these reports are just LITTLE ignorant people and should get the hell out of here. People, please just take the reports as is and kindly not bag the reporter or one day you will not get any reports on training. Then you willl winge big time.6 points
-
Oh for heaven’s sake we want all observations from anyone who attends training sessions! We want information, it will always be subjective and most of us work out the regular reporters style and preferences. What we crave is content. By the way I get there every now and then but don’t report too often because Saty and Kev have it all covered and I must admit I don’t pick up the detail they do.6 points

Yeah all made by couch amateurs. You gotta trust the experts you pay to do the job. Taylor said there was a 2 day conference to work through the candidates and Goodwin was involved so there are plenty of checks and balances. If Taylor and co think it's Jackson then the club needs to back their judgement.5 points

I’d describe it as an attempt to control speech and in doing so to imply a sense of moral superiority by the controller. You know like that fraud Trudeau who corrected a guy that said mankind by saying “ we say peoplekind now” . The same guy that got around India in traditional Indian attire for weeks then later got caught out in “brown face” twice. It’s a symbolic hypocrisy mostly used by mostly white people who carry needless guilt or shame and project it upon others. Hope I cleared that up.5 points

It might still take some time for you to see why things are what they are globally. Racism , immigration etc are not left/ right issues as much as the left wishes they were. Not all conservatives are racist nor are all left wingers pure of heart. Controlling speech Is no solution. Political correctness is still a modern evil. Despising political correctness does not make someone a racist. There is a nuance that gets lost by the “woke”.5 points

Out currently having a coffee with some of the under 16's Murray Bushrangers development coaches to start planning for our up coming pre season. Just got told that Demon recruiting officials are up in the North East Border and Golburn Valley region to interview a couple of bushies boys. Lachlan Ash will most likely one of them and along side Ben Kelly and Cam Wild.5 points

I’m really liking seeing Pruess returning trimmed down. Whether or not he makes it is another question but there’s little doubt he’s trying to emulate Gawn’s example and why wouldn’t he!? He said when he came to the club he wanted to learn off Max and to progress into a better player, he’s got a long way to go but these are good signs.5 points

This is from Mark Seaby who is his ruck coach. “I had the privilege of working with (Western Bulldog) Tim English as well. “Tim at the same stage was probably a bit more of an all-rounded footballer because he’d been playing for longer, but Luke’s probably got greater physical attributes than Tim at this stage. “He’s probably got the greatest potential that I’ve seen come through, in terms of where he’s at now and what he can achieve in the future. “He’s got similar traits to those ruckmen that act almost like an extra midfielder at stoppages. Peter Sumich who last year said that that Sydney Stack was the most talented WA kid in the draft also had huge wraps on him when I listen to him on the radio few weeks ago. I will trust the judgements of these guys that have worked and seen first hand how they operate rather couple of rando's on the internet.5 points

"Melbourne is expected to call out West Australian ruckman Luke Jackson’s name with Pick 3" [censored] hope not.5 points

In fairness to Dazzle, you manage to miss or seemingly allow the thinly veiled attacks coming from the other way, Andy. I love this time of year but loathe it at the same time. It’s rinse repeat year after year. Invariably turns into a petty [censored] 90% of the time. It just seems as though some posters get a little more leeway with petty potshots because they get to training.4 points

Daniel Rioli at 2? Spare me Johnson.. I'd easily have the likes of Dunkley, Gresham and Hopper ahead of Rioli. Harry McKay is also stiff not to be on that list. Would easily have him ahead of Milera and Rioli. 204cm key forward who kicked 30 goals in 20 games this year. Can see him heading towards Tom Lynch territory in a few years time.4 points

I see it in the younger generation OD, although I must say I think we see and hear of it more often with social media providing a platform for cowards. It was always there before just we didn't see it reported as much and people spoke against it a lot less because unfortunately it was accepted in certain circles4 points

I reckon you’d want someone who can kick with pick 34 points
-
Think he took such a battering, they are just building him again, told me he is fine, he is only just turned 20 so I assume they don't want to break him Neither he nor Weid have any visible strapping anywhere4 points

I saw Jackson live and I don’t see him being pick 3. That’s a speculative punt. He is an athlete. Basketball aerobic movement. No doubt. But he is very raw still. Skills are lacking. Tumbles the footy. Needs at least 3 years development as athleticism alone at AFL level is not enough. I know you can’t dismiss someone from interstate, but our record of holding stars from interstate is not great. so who would I pick? Hayden Young has the skills, footy smarts and aerial skills to warrant pick 3. His delivery is absolutely needed. He would be our best kick from his first game. I would grab him in a heartbeat at 3.4 points

Thank you Kev. Demonland would be a better place if we all respected the views of others, regardless of whether we agreed with them or not. As an 'interstster' who can't get to training, I value your training reports and Saty's equally. I love them both!4 points

In fairness to Saty your posts praising Kev's amazing training reports were thinly veiled attacks on Saty.4 points

In fairness all these blokes were picked at 40 plus or on a rookie contract, so this list means absolutely nothing.3 points

Racism aside, it’s an abhorrent comment to make towards a baby. I have a baby and toddler myself and would be devastated if someone made a comment like that directed at them.3 points

He isn't far off that: 18.3 touches and 22 goals in 2019 in a team that came 17th with an ineffective midfield. Martin, Greene and De Goey played in teams that came 1st, 2nd and 3rd with excellent midfields. And each of those players has more experience as Petracca missed his first year from ACL. We gush over other team's players but often fail to give credit to our own - not saying that about yourself, just a general comment about DL.3 points
-
Nobody minds the opinion Dazzle, it's the way it's expressed. You've got some great views and insights, you do a terrific job bringing our notice to articles in the media and you clearly know your footy. But the way you express yourself towards others is unnecessarily putrid at times.3 points

The people we should really fear as those who want to rewrite history. It should be there warts and all.3 points

Sorry that's a pretty inane comment. People have opinions all the time about sports they haven't played. Doesn't make them invalid. There are over 700 accredited media in the AFL and I estimate probably around 70 have played the game. So what? Some are good commentators some are bad. Pro tip: If you don't like reading other peoples opinions don't go on to a football fan site.3 points

Yes - there’s a bit of a shock at No. 2 but not much of a shock for those who have been following this draft for longer than the last month. Tom Green is very, very, good. But the real shock might come for those of you who are fixated on us picking Brodie Kemp at No. 8 - have a look at where he’s rated here. Top 30 AFL young guns revealed — and there’s a shock at No. 23 points

Yep. At the very least, Josh Dunkley deserves to be second on that list. Absolute gun.3 points

From someone who's worked with the likes of Tim English who is becoming one of up and coming talented rucks in the game. So yes I will gladly take his opinion of these rando's who have watched a 2 minute highlights.3 points

From what i saw in the Nats he didn't play forward nor did i see him kick a goal or take a grab there other than around the arc drifting forward maybe on a rare occasion. If he doesn't offer a genuine forward goal kicking option or isn't likey to then why would we want a third ruckman on the list with pick 3 or 8 (which LH has highlighted, technically includes our first rounder from 2020)? Makes no sense for mine. So we are happy to push Big M out of the ruck and start blooding this fella in the next few years? Where does Maxy go if that is the case? Certainly not a genuine tall goal kicking forward option either and hit out talents would be wasted if he spent most of his time forward.3 points

Young simply is the best choice at 3. For years we have tolerated turnovers and poor disposal. Young is the best kick but also importantly is a very good footballer. He can play back or midfield (wing) with excellent aerial skills. He would bring disposal into forward 50 which is crucial. I saw him 3 times in full games and he was BOG in all 3 games imo. And if you forget how good this kid is, watch his highlights again. Skills. Footy smarts. Physically sound. Captained Stingrays under 18s this year. Knows what’s required as his brother is at the Bulldogs. Being a local boy is just a bonus. Hayden Young at 3.3 points

Let's face it, we're all pathetic losers for being on this site at any time, let alone in the offseason. Hostility towards Saty and Kev is simply a projection of the dissatisfaction that comes from knowing you shouldn't care about the offseason combined with the awareness that you care enough to read a website but not enough to visit in person. They do, and so they're better losers than all of us combined. Go Dees (at all times, but especially in the parts of the year when the games are being played)!3 points

I haven't been here for a week. Has Saty been copping it and, thus, this thread is born, or was Kev paid to do it? Bring on Round 1.3 points

Funny RG my wife often says to me ( half joking )" why do still follow that mob surely after half century you can see the theme" I have no answer! Once I used to fight her attempts to get me on mid year ( away from our winter ) holidays now I see it as a welcome break.2 points

Geelong's 'audacious' move is old news taken from a 'Road to the Draft' interview with Wells a few weeks ago. Wishful thinking on Geelong's part. Their picks will all move down 3 spots after academy bids. We need to remember that pick 8 isn't just pick 8 it includes our 2020 first round pick, along with some later picks 26, 50 we gave North in exchange. In no way do their 14, 17 come close to what we paid for #8. If we must trade 8 go to GCS for 15 and next years first round or mid first round pp and something else from them. Pick 8 is in high demand. It has more value than just draft points. Why would we give up the chance to get a gem at #8 for several roughies late in round 1. Geelong a dreaming and we will look very silly giving up our 2020 1st round pick to North only to cough it up to Geelong. If we do trade 8 we sure as hell need to nail pick 3.2 points
-
Not keen on that. 8 for 14+17 isn’t a good result. Getting 10+22 from Freo would be better IMO. I’d prefer we keep 3 and 8 and take them to draft though.2 points

@kev martin you need to be bit earlier ??? Weid, Petty and Josh Wagner out early Marty Hore stood on Spargo's foot It was Joel Smiths' first main session, probably had a limit Nietschke did not miss a target when he kicked Petracca was a standout, I don't care if he grabs his [censored] at the end of his kicking routine, if he maintains this standard2 points
