  1. Don't care what anyone says, we are a better team with Jetta in it.

  2. All this anticipation coupled with some supposed surprises has me so worked up! It's a real bonus living in WA and getting the teams announced 3 hours earlier than Vic.

  3. Tell you what, we've been left in no doubt about Goodwin's attacking game plan. Jetta in makes me happy, Hannan is a surprise good luck to the kid, may he kick goals with his first three kicks. Joel Smith is in for a serious introduction, likely to be the desperate drop-back tall trying to cover when the midfield cracks. And that's the game there - we've gone quite small in defence compared to the Saints forwards, just completely double-down on 'we will run and kill them all over the ground, and to hell with the occasional easy goal out the back'. Still mean's sometimes Jetta will be on Bruce, giving away a handy 17cm. Good luck to Nibbler and Weed. And good luck to Garlett's leg muscles collectively. Let's kick 25 goals and send the rest of the league into a cold sweat!

  5. Guess i should say hello now Just cos its my username though! Approx 1994 he speeds past me on the south eastern with his Jako13 number plates doing about 160 clicks. I'm 19 at the time driving my piece of crap '76 corolla and decide i've got nothing better to do. So i speed up to see if i can catch him - the Corolla gets to 130 (4 speed 4 cylinder.... old piece of '[censored]' - still amazed that it got to tgat speed) and promptly overheats and loses all power - stuck in the middle lane of the south eastern near waverley for 30 mins can' get out to push due to cars zooming past on either side. Finally it starts again, got it home and had about another year of awesome adventures out of the car (yep had to replace the head gasket after that - was the beginning of the end fir the car!) Before paying $50 for the wrecker to come and collect it - yep that bad the wrecker couldn't get anything out of it. And never saw Jako in his car or the awesome Jako13 number plates again. If you got to the end that crap story is why my username is Jako13

  9. I'll take s stab in the dark, Watts and Hogan only talls in the forward line, all quick smalls, garlett, kent, trac, maybe Hannan. Shitihad is a quick track so we want forward pressure. only guessing through

  10. I remember the astonishment from the sports writers in the states when Bennett stopped a sure touchdown from a punt return. He was the last player between the punt returner and the touch line - Bennett laid a bone crunching tackle on the player. The sport writers were astonished as punters never laid tackles in the NFL and I was astonished because Bennett never laid a tackle in the AFL.

  11. Im in the same boat as most that i think this is a fairly strong team. Nev Jetta being named just makes it look a touch stronger and reliable. Funny that Goody rarely spoke of Jetta during the JTL series. Just show how highly rated he is amongst senior coaches.

  12. Hang on a sec, wasn't I told by 'the people' on here that Jetta was done?

  13. This is good for the tigers over confidence. I like them to remain mediocre . and I'd like Carlton to lose every game .

  14. I'm not a Neal-Bullen fan, but he's been included due to his pressure/tackling. When a side gets the ball inside 50 they try to lock it in and Neal-Bullen works in that regard. I prefer him forward than in the midfield, as he's a fumler under pressure and panics. He's aggressive though, so the forward-line makes some sense. Kent, Tyson and Hibberd are best 22 outs. vandenBerg arguable. Hannan is a smooth left footer with class. For him to be selected is very exciting, because he's obviously shown the club the attributes they saw when they drafted him. Clubs do match simulation every single week, so don't get too hung up on non JLT appearances, especially for players that were underdone due to injury (like Hannan) and not quite ready to go.

  15. Disappointed that Kent misses, but that's a good looking side. Very strong across the ground and I'm excited to see how Hannan goes in the big time. I like the combo of Hogan, Weideman and Watts with guys like Garlett and Petracca hanging around to snag a few goals.

  16. Trenners wants in on it. Jack Trengove‏ @jtren9 AFL 2017 Brownlow: M. Gawn - Coleman: J. Cameron - Watch this Space: C. Oliver (scary scary good - get around him!) #youhearditherefirst

  19. Come on, the game has gone past him? He's a 27 year old who missed one year, and he was flying as a player before the suspension. You make him sound like he's a 35 year old who hasn't played in 5 years. I watched his "road to round one" interview and he's obviously a fairly flat and straight sort of bloke. Who cares if he's not bouncing around the boys like Melksham is. It amazes me the conclusions some will reach on such little information. How about we await his injury recovery before deciding he won't make it?

  21. I blame myself TPF. I was playing golf that day, got back to the clubhouse and the game was on the telly. It was halfway through the second qtr, and we were giving them a towelling. From the point I sat down, we stopped and the wheels completely fell off. I humbly apologise. I have learned my lesson.

  24. First ever post on Demonland, and markc you are the reason. My wife also looked to Jim when she had breast cancer, but after beating that beast fell to one you don't recover from, ovarian cancer, 6 months ago on the 6th We were members of the now defunct Gold Pass when Jim came to office, got involved with the Foundation H thing etc, then as he became ill watched the wheels fall off. Very sad. Looking at were we are today, think the big fellow would smile and so would my wife. RIP Jim. Markc, mate I share your pain as few others on this site will. Keep strong.

  25. After watching Cripps tonight it's probably best that Dom has another run at Casey...Cripps was off the pace (hope he stays off it next week), interrupted preseason and only one JLT game.

  26. Hibberd was asked about the injury and he answered the questions in a very matador of fact way. There was no running away from it he said, cooking a large Paella. "It's a small Spain, Sprain I mean" "Just needs a few siestas"

  27. Harmes JLT was putrid. Surprised ANB ahead of Bugg but hoping ANB is given a good chance early in season to see if can convert his VFL form up a level and cement a spot if he's good enough. Tyson and Kent clearly best 22 but both are the type that need more run and touch to be at their best. I know Weid's JLT did not set the world on fire but think it is right to persevere with him ahead of two rucks with one as a make shift forward. The thing he does well already is create space for Hogan, you very rarely see them go the same ball which the same cant be said once Gawn/Spencer rest there.

  28. Had a short chat to Jack Watts in town yesterday and he seemed his confident self, at peace with the (football) world. I knew then he would be in the team. Go Jack! Go Dees!

  30. I think we have a couple of passengers in there Wb. they might be fit but short on ability at this level. I hope they improve with the experience because they have not shown much in the lead up games.

  31. And Kent But i can live with both out when they are underdone. Goody not making the same mistake they made with Brayshaw last year

  35. Of that list above, you could argue that Frost, Hibberd and AVB are in the best 22, while the others are on the outside looking in. It's a longer injury list than we'd like, but we're not missing too many crucial players, so we can't complain too much. And of those crucial players, Frost should be back very soon and Hibberd is hopefully back within a month.

  36. Actually i thought Watts did OK, probably got 30% of his hit outs (sometimes by default), but could be different this year without the 3rd Man up

  38. Watts will play, he was never not going to.

  39. A big surprise would be someone who didn't play JLT like Hannan. If Tyson's out because "he's underdone", then it would be a surprise to see Kent who has had even less exposure. Smith hardly a surprise with the injuries we have back there to medium talls. Reading Goodwin's player reviews I think he likes ANB's pre-season and he may play ahead of others.

  43. It wasn't ruckwork, it was a bit of marking, spoiling etc they had the rucks working with Greg Stafford during the session and he went nowhere near

  44. The bloke's finished 2nd and 4th in the BnF in his two injury unaffected years at the club. He may never become an A-grader but there's no doubt he's clearly best 22. Usually agree with the majority of your posts Clint but that's an odd one.

  45. As all of you know , I do not make outrageous statements but I'll say this.. If Watts does not play thats Goodwins first mistake that could cost us the game. He is worth 3 goals and a couple of dish of's so I hope all this bulltish about benchmarks and KPI gets put where it belongs !! In the wastepaper basket and Jackie boy is named as a key forward.! PF

  46. This, more than anything gives me reason to be confident that we are a good chance this weekend. Oliver, Lewis, Salem, Stretch, Melksham are a far better group than M. Jones, VDB, Kennedy, White, Grimes and that's 1/4 of the team.
