  1. This deal is not dead. Jordan is very upset with Hawthorn for putting him up for trade. He was told by Clarkson he was going to be traded and cracked it. The Hawthorn Board (in an emergency meeting) then overruled it. However, Jordan is feeling he has lost the support of the coach and is now considering walking. As we speak he is weighing up where to play out his career. Melbourne or Hawthorn. The agreed trade will cost the Dees very little should Jordan Lewis decide his days in brown and yellow are over. Come on Jordan walk and win a Premiership in the Red and Blue!

  4. In case this does go through, I take back everything I've said about Jordan. Or Jordie, as I will refer to him henceforth. He's definitely not an arrogant [censored] and his bald spot isn't that noticeable.

  5. Hello [censored].. I see Demonland has fallen of the cliff since my departure so thought id get this joint back on track. SEN 1116‏ @SENNews Rob Waters has told @SENAfternoons that Jordan Lewis wants to leave Hawthorn and his manager is speaking with Melbourne now #TradeSENtral

  6. CP not up for trade. BS on that one. My word is that the odds have significantly shortened in the last few hours. In our favour. Jordan has one foot out the door. Hawks working hard to undo a likely exit. Fingers crossed.

  7. I hate Jordan Lewis mainly because he's a smug, talented winner. Get him.

  8. Well that is a lesson for anyone who want's to pass on a trade whisper, on the trade whisper thread, don't, unless Stuie thinks it is earth shattering.

  9. We played the youngest age profile team in over half of the games this year. I don't think we need to worry about being too old, we have 2 players over 28. As another poster recently commented some people over analyse list management. If you can get a quality player who makes your list better for little cost then you do it. If its at the expense of an equally talented young player then maybe you don't, but you have to ask the question who would he keep out of the side? There's no one banging the door down who is absolute quality that can say they deserve a game over Lewis. Matt Jones still played over 10 games this year, Lewis is an upgrade on him so why wouldn't you do the deal? He will improve our best 22 when we already have a young group. It's a no brainer.

  10. MFC have issued a statement saying 'we understand that Jordan is a contracted player but we remain interested'! Translation: He is on his way!! Edit 1: Source SEN who apparently have mfc's complete statement. Edit 2: Here is the statement: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-14/we-remain-interested-dees-still-sniffing-around-lewis The pertinent part: "We received an approach from Jordan Lewis’s management earlier this week regarding the possibility of him joining Melbourne. This was after discussions Jordan had with Hawthorn," the statement read..."We understand that Jordan is contracted to Hawthorn, but we remain interested in looking at this option." Makes it pretty clear we did not do the chasing despite the picture Hawthorn are trying to paint! Well done mfc to not let the Hawks paint us as the bad guys to save their own skin!!

  11. I think fans overcomplicate the list management side of things sometimes. If you can get a good player on a good contract and not give up much to get him, why wouldn't you add him to the list? Not everyone has to hang around for 10 years or directly be responsible for a flag. Heck everyone raves about the Bulldogs blueprint being the one to follow, they themselves signed Jed Adcock a year ago and Lewis shits on him.

  12. works at the club, he told me Dom Tyson was in talks for a new 3 year deal about 3 months ago @Lucifer's Hero and others will confirm i was well ahead of time with that, he found out because the Hawks made a call. same guy has just told me this.

  16. All good points but none of those blokes play in the team. How many times have we lost games we should've won over the last few years due to a lack of leadership? Many is the answer. I would rather Lewis for a couple of years now to help fast track our young guys particularly given we're not in the position to draft in the first round talent pool. The value he could add to the already existing young list far outweighs the risk of missing out on speculative talent outside of the 30 in the ND we're currently looking at.

  17. Was just told by a source who has multiple connections inside Hawthorn said to me the only party against this move is the Hawks board who are concerned about the supporter/media backlash of losing two legends for virtually nothing in one trade period. it's 99.9% going to happen, he's already requested a trade.

  18. There is a agreed trade should Jordan walk to us. We are not paying overs.

  19. Just wrapped how the club goes about its work but also that a player like Lewis would want to come to the Dee's. My god, how things have changed, no longer the poor pathetic lame duck club that people laugh, sneer or disparage. Feeling proud to be Melbourne.

  20. Lewis if he comes, will bring with him a decade of knowing what success looks like and the work required to get it. Deledio, on the other hand....

  25. call me late for dinner but I'm not fussed ifhe comes not. Good either way. What I DO take out of this is a multiple. Premiership player actually wanted to come and made active efforts to do so....and the steak knives is NO ONE smirked at the idea. That's a win. Yes shouldn't need to even make comment but I do

  27. Yep, there's a lot of years of pent-up "jeez I hate that bastard" I'm carrying. It's going to take some time to get over it I reckon. *blink* Oh there, it's gone. Welcome Mr Lewis, I've been a fan for years!

  29. Wow. I was led to believe the Hawks are the consummate masters of team harmony and player trading. First they dump Mitchell to free cap space sensitively transition his career to its next phase. (Lucky for them he's professional enough not to dump on them in public.) Now they've tried the same on the crown prince and got him [censored] off. They're a happy team at Hawthorn. But they're the consummate masters! They never put a foot wrong!

  30. What he would do, at the very least, is force one of our bottom 6 (of which there is still a few) out of the team. As already stated, M. Jones played 10 games this year, Trengove 3, Newton 2, ANB 4, Bugg played 18! I consider Lewis to be superior to all these players' and by the length of the Flemington straight. Lewis replacing a bottom 6 player in the starting 22 both wipes out some red and adds some black at the same time. If we could squeeze 2 years of good footy out of him, it would do wonders whilst our younger brigade develop. He would also provide a chop out for the likes of Viney, Tyson, Clarry, etc. The positives far outweigh the negatives on this one.

  31. Not for mine. I reckon Hibberd will be an excellent addition. We have enough Koby like players. We have bugger all players who can reliably hit a target 40 plus metres away.

  32. The most obvious part of this is the lack of talk from Lewis or his manager, if he wasn't keen on a move he'd simply say that's the case and end the speculation

  34. I will never stop laughing if Prestia does a backflip and nominates another club. Such a thing could only happen to Richmond.

  35. I'm enjoying developments myself. Dons on the rack to play ball and trade Hibberd for 2017 2nd Round, Hawks sweating over 2nd B&F player wanting to defect to us, and now Prestia deal with Tigers stalling... Seems perfectly poised as we turn for the run home.

  36. Matthew Boyd has re-signed with the Dogs. Marcus Adams, after one year at the Dogs, has requested a trade back to WA. The Dogs give him a chance and he gives them the flick after just one season. This sort of stuff is getting out of hand.

  38. Classy from us, yet again. There is no need to comment on anything yet unless we know, 100%, if he is going to be coming to us or if the deal is dead in the water. No point in discussing it publicly right now while we are still doing things behind the scenes.

  43. How did Hawks win all those flags with all these slow one-paced midfielders? Burgoyne/Hodge/Lewis/Mitchell/earlier Sewell some of the comments on here are hilarious. easy enough to compliment a midfield with outside speed like hawks did with Smith and Hill if we got Lewis for a 3rd rounder it would be a steal! he is being grouped in with the oldies like Mitchell but is 4 years younger than him. 2 year deal with clauses for a third would be great.

  44. This is exactly why in the "if Hawthorn get Mitchell and O'Meara thread then..." I said they'd have to pay. Something would have to give. Even if we don't get Lewis in the end, it is very nice to know that they've utterly shat off the old brigade in order to bring in all these high priced new young players. They've thrown the players loyalty and goodwill back in their face, when they've all been paid unders for years to keep the cap under control and the dynasty alive. I wonder what the team dynamic will be like when Mitchell, Vickery, O'Meara rock up for the first time. Great stuff!

  45. Oh my god!! It's Friday and nothing has happened!!! Josh where are you, why are you so fixated on just the Hibberd deal? Why are you so passive??? I feel let down. Why are you not tweaking my bits when I need it?! Not serious, just getting it in before old mate O does 3 times today.
