  1. This will be finished by the middle of October. It's this black and white - either he signs the 6 years on the table, or he'll be traded. Club will not not have this crap going on for another 12 months.

  2. What an incredibly naive post. Just because you don't know what's going on with the Hogan situation, and most people on here don't know, doesn't mean there aren't certain people who do. Jesse's family, his mates, and people close to the club would all know far more than us. CIP has given great information before, he's a fanatical Demon who gets tidbits of info from people at the club from time to time. If you don't believe this happens then you are kidding yourself. Just because you haven't heard a piece of information from one of your "mates" the players, doesn't mean it isn't true.

  3. Only on the football field. He never really used too, his twin sister stole all the grunt. But it's amazing how he can go from chillaxed to completely switched on as soon as he steps onto the grass. He used to be the kid who would pick the opposition off the ground before moving onto the net contest, but not any more. Like earlier this year in Casey's second game v Collingwood which they lost, Dec cleared the ball at one stage and Aish, instead of trying to smother, went for Dec directly to try and take him out. Well Dec still got the clearance and Aish bounced off of him and landed on his back. Dec looked down, saw Aish, and immediately jumped on him. Really gave him a good hammering before being dragged off by 2 Collingwood players. Don't think so. When he finished his preseason with Melbourne this year he had a meeting with Roosey and the coaching staff which basically said 'sorry but we don't really have a place for you.' That might've changed since then, but I doubt it. Justin Plapp did tell us at the start of the year if Dec has a good year he will be drafted. We know for a fact the North Melbourne, Geelong and Essendon are looking at him, and the staff at Casey believe there is one or two more. He was invited to the state combine, and he did a day of testing with North at the end of last year where afterwards he was told they would be looking at him as a Rookie if he played VFL Seniors all year.

  4. Realistically they don't know if he's staying or not. I imagine it would be standard operating procedure for membership depts to not use players whose future is in doubt. I don't think it means he's definitely going. But it probably does mean he's not definitely staying. Which I guess we already knew.

  6. I hope the Suns are right pricks about this trade. Ask for the world and don't budge. Sorry Jaeger - best we could do was Brisbane. I'm tired of restricted players declaring where they want to go.

  7. They do take risks 'Sat', think Garlett...very much a risk that didn't pay off. There were another couple but I can't remember names. Not all they touch turns to gold. I think they are punting now, at the end of an era and not a lot of currency apart from the destination factor. They haven't been game enough to make the big calls, going for one more flag might have just tipped them over. I don't see Mitchell (Sydney version) as a saviour of their midfield, to me he is a vanilla kick getter and not much more. O'Meara fit is a jet but as we've seen with Trenners, 2 years out is a big ask. Hopefully out of it this Friday night, straight sets and then the on the slide.

  8. Hopefully it was just a Facebook thing not including them all. I scoured the official website and found packages with a few more players: And finally, appearing only once under the Armchair membership:

  10. It is crazy to think that you don't believe that both players and officials talk to their relatives and mates. I had a few beers with my Cats mate after our mauling down there a few weeks ago. He discussed both potential player movement from his club (not him, he'd never leave Geelong) and injury details with me. That's me talking crap with an old school mate, someone I've known all my life. An actual friend rather than the tolerated acquaintance you are of the MFC players. But I am none of those things you mentioned above as the only possible people who could have inside information - I don't have sources within the MFC, I'm not "in the know", I'm not a player manager or club official or a member of Jesse's family. The info he told me isn't a guess, it's not a 50/50 chance of being right like you've said. There are a million examples of things like this happening. I repeat: you're unbelievably naïve if you think they don't.

  11. Wrong. A couple of years ago, I was given info by a close relative of a senior club official about the likely destination of a player on the move. The media were reporting another club as being the destination, and my source was proven correct. As Members Wing said, you are naive to think that information of this nature doesn't leak out.

  12. No longer a demon but wanted to acknowledge Jamie Bennell who has been delisted by the Eagles after 93 games for the two teams: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-12/eagles-delist-six-after-early-finals-exit A nice pic of him in his Demons jumper in that article. His instagram message: "Thanks to these two clubs for giving me the opportunity to play at the highest level and live out a childhood dream. #plentyoffootyleft". He is all class! Good luck with the next venture.

  14. What is the deal with Weller? People throw him up as if he is a key piece of a deal, but he's done nothing to suggest he is worth that a the minute. Minimum in any deal would be Fyfe and a low first rounder (inside Top 5) for me.

  18. People make it sound so easy lol recruit a dangerfield type, explosive dominant goal kicking midfielder outside of Danger himself, Robbie Grey and maybe Jake Stringer there aren't many players around capable of doing what Danger can do.

  19. I agree RE forward/ruck. In an ideal world one of your three tall forwards can ruck. Id still look to develop one in case Gawn gets injured or Hogan leaves. On a slightly different note, if actually like to see the AFL ban the third man up. No rule change is necessary: if a third man goes up when the other two ruckmen are engaged in a physical contest for position, then a free kick should be paid for shepparding in the ruck, which is already illegal. Too often do we see one ruck only attempt to negate the other, allowing a free run from a third player and an easy HO to advantage.

  20. Im high school friends with a Collingwood player and every summer we catch up for beers too. He too will spill anything regarding off season moves and other issues. I could tell you whos currently on 2 strikes at Collingwood. Its human nature that players will spill anything especially when your close friends with them. Its just typical aussie mates that talk [censored]. Unfortunately Saty is so delusional that he thinks because players won't tell him anything that then has a net effect on everyone else.

  21. Hello, President of the Hawthorn Football League here and I'd just like to clear up a couple of misconceptions you lot may have with regard to some of these trades etc. Hogan, Fyfe, Fyffe, Gaff, yes, yes all good players I'm sure but I have to make it perfectly clear all trades must be ratified with our board. I repeat ALL trades. Fyfe and Hogan will be coming across next year and Gaff as soon as he becomes a Hawthorn (sorry I mean free) agent. We brought in that work experience kid this year O'Meara. Played the old Burgoyne bung knee card there ha,ha,ha. Anyway back to your little games. I'm working with Fitzy and Gill (terrific chaps, very ameniable to our cause) to let you lot have a cameo appearance in 2018 or 19 in the top four. On the proviso of course that we never leave the top 4. Talked about a series of exhibition matches next year (you might call it the Home and Away) before our games start in September. Anyway toodle pip.

  25. i love how the weird and slightly creepy dude on the scooter is convinced that he would be considered inner sanctum. lol. He would in fact be humoured at training and laughed about behind closed doors. i take nothing he says as any more than the players being told to humour the guy cause hes the die hard that turns up at training.

  26. And it's was Jesse who said it. Something like, "Hopefully it'll be sorted in the next 6 months, if I re-sign or whatever"
    4 points
  27. Ok, but I never understood the rationale behind GNF's 6 month timeframe. As CIP has stated, only Hogan's signature before tradeweek is a desirable outcome for the club.

  31. How is Pedersen not the player we want for this role, at least in the short term? He can ruck, he can play forward or back, and he has a big body that can take a fair amount of punishment. Next in line should be Spencer if he can develop his forward play to the point where he can make a contribution each week, even if he is not necessarily kicking a heap of goals. Watts is too valuable to play ruck, and doesn't have the body strength to ruck around the ground against bigger opponents. I really don't see Weideman as an option long term either, for much the same reasons. There is no doubt that Gawn needs support, but I don't see that we need to over complicate things.

  36. FWIW - here is my 2 bobs worth on this Hogan fella. The Melbourne Football Club has spent the past 3 years under Roos and Jackson together with the blood and sweat of numerous hard working people at the club, getting this club off the bottom of the ladder into a position to have a crack at finals. I have watched Hogan closely, at training and on game days. To be perfectly honest his body language is terrible and hardly looks like a team player. Perceptions can be meaningful and frankly he comes over as a me me me type! I hope Goody gives him a reality check before pre season. As for him and this poxy contract situation, word from the wise Jesse! Many an AFL champion from interstate has stuck fat with their football club and given back to the club who nurtured them. Hogan can be a legitimate champion of the game if he fixes some attitude adjustments. We want him to be a bonafide MFC hero, but if he is a me me me sook who wants to run home because he is homesick, then the club is better off without a sookie mummies boy. On the other hand, if he shows maturity and sticks fat with us, then thats excellent. I'm a bit fed up with players been drafted and then picking and choosing after 2 or 3 years to leave. It makes a mockery of the draft system, just look at what it did to the Lions. I want Hogan to stay, I don't want him to hold the club to ransom in 2017.

  37. this has turned into a footy mates penis measuring contest! I cant be bothered reading through the last few pages. Any new news at all?

  38. No, this is what you don't seem to understand. If YOU ask a player about an injury during the season, YOU get a straight bat. My mate has whinged a number of times to me about how bad his back has been over the years. I am a million miles away from being high up in the food chain in these sort of things. I've only got a mate as a player and a couple of other acquaintances around the league, as I'm sure a number of people on here do, or did when they were that age. As I said earlier, Chook in Perth has decent sources within the club, and there are many others who know people in high places, people who know much more about trade scenarios than players do. The purpose of my post was not to denigrate you but to ask you to open your mind and realise that just because players and officials say one thing to certain people, it doesn't mean that's what they say to everyone.

  39. So you've gone from "UNLESS IT IS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED, NO PLAYER OR OFFICIAL WILL DIVULGE CORRECT INFORMATION ON EITHER INJURY OR CONTRACT" to "what I have written above is more the norm". There are so many parties involved, and each of these parties have friends, relatives and work associates. It's not hard for stories to be leaked. BTW, the info I was given wasn't a guess.

  41. Ok, I relented and tracked down my post: Nonsense... as has already been mentioned in this "discussion", the news that Hogan would like to remain a Demon is NOT new information at all... it was in the press on July 21 and the only difference is that GNF is claiming that he got the info from the inner sanctum:http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/melbournes-jesse-hogan-shuts-down-dockers-advances-20160720-gqaa8f.html

  44. Agreed, much harder this year as the AFL significantly reduced the Northern teams' ability to combine lower picks into an academy bid. You now need to have spots on the list equal to (or greater than?) the number of live picks in the draft I think. Very glad we were able to take advantage of it for the 1 year it was possible though, it shows our team are thinking. I'd back them in to pull off another surprise.
