  1. Macartney could get the best out of Lennon I reckon.

  2. Geelong are always good with the outfits. Mitch Clark is going to rock up dressed as an AFL player this year which will be a hoot. Can't wait to see what Terls brings to the table. Trengove was planning on going as Usain Bolt But that idea was quickly shut down by H. Pedo apparently will be coming dressed as Cardinal Pell.

  4. 5 year deal? I don't blame Prestia for jumping at that with his wobbly knees. I do like how the Tigers said they got their rebuild all wrong... so they throw away a high draft pick for an injury prone midfielder who doesn't fix any of their problems. Well done Tiges...

  8. What talented youngsters are left at Tiggerland? Legit question. Rioli, Vlastuin maybe.....and? Prestia is off his nut going there. The place is a complete shambles.

  9. Close to if not the worst young list in the AFL Dimma at minute to midnight. More board challenges in the wings Brendan Gale on the way out rumoured as the next boss of the MCC... What could go wrong???

  11. Why in the world would a club be nervous about the AFL and their so called drugs policy? What may be missing here is that avoiding a drug test may be a test for (so called) harmless recreational drugs, or for PEDs, which is why avoiding a WADA drug test (is supposed to) carry heavy penalties ie 2-4Y. If the AFL are serious about "clean sport", which they have given little indication that they are, then they need to follow WADA's strict code re testing and missing tests. The players sign on for this, the clubs and the AFL too, yet they all whinge and run for cover when push comes to shove.

  12. This is the irony though. If he'd just stayed home, even if he was tested, the results would have been confidential. By trying to avoid the test (which didn't eventuate) he opened himself up to scrutiny. On a more general note, how long do we think it'll be before the AFL starts with the vilification of the ex-girlfriend? 'She's got an axe to grind, she's not reliable, she's making it up, looking for revenge' etc. Nice way to distract the punters from the real issue eh? I'm already imagining the radio call-backs: 'I know Lachie, he's a good guy, he wouldn't do this.' 'Lachie's a top bloke who stuck his dick in crazy' 'Where is the investigation into this ex-girlfriend is what I want to know! She's got a lot to answer for!' 'She just wants her 15 minutes of fame' I'd almost put money on this happening within the next few days.

  13. According to the AFL, his departure means that there is now not a single listed player named 'John'. Thought you'd like to know.

  15. "It's been an incredibly detailed, forensic investigation", McLachlan said. "You can't use any old carpet. You need something with a weft and warp that will make things under it not noticeable. It takes time and study. "And if a memory stick gets run over by a car, can a computer still access it? Or do you need to hit it with a hammer? "Is it sufficient to set a phone back to factory settings or should it be thrown in a fire? These things take what they take. They work methodically through it and they don't rush to reach to an outcome."

  16. Per Caro's article, they were all highly aware that the illicit drugs could well contain a prohibited substance like the Collingwood boys. Hence why trying to stay out of the testers way.

  17. Richmond now get the fun job of trying to find 5 quality assistant coaches, get them on the same page as Dimma and get them to build a rapport with the players in time for pre season, with the huge potential Dimma gets sacked half way through next year and they all get moved on anyways.

  18. To be fair to Adelaide, they have perhaps lost more players than anyone. They are doing remarkably well.

  20. I have no argument against the charge that Whitfield (and Allan and Lambert) may have broken the rules they contracted for and should feel the full weight of the consequences.
    4 points
  21. Purely hypothetical. Keefe and Thomas test positive for PEDs after taking party drugs laced with Clenbuterol. (That's not the hypothetical part.) Whitfield panics because his dealer is the same dealer. Gubby keeps quiet. Girlfriend dobs. We're off and running. Whitewash.

  22. The girlfriend went rogue. Lachie doesn't know what he took, but he's knows it's not illegal. What a shame for the lad that Slobbo, Blowin' Connolly and various other media stooges don't barrack for GWS.

  23. Prestia has officially nominated Richmond as his preferred club.................the chump
    4 points
  24. Wow, that was fast. Thanks for the link, I don't normally read the herald sun. Now that that article's there, the implication that she's out for revenge will seep down into the punters' psyche and any evidence against Whitfield will be seen through that lens. This is sickening.

  25. She allegedly did it out of concern for his safety - may be true if they were still together at the time, probably why they're no longer together

  26. Aside from the disgrace that this has been left to fester for so long is the timing of the leak of this scandal to the public domain and questions to how it got out. A conspiracy theorist may link this to the Grubby/Balme power struggle that is currently going on at Collingwood. Highly plausible.

  27. You are missing absolutely nothing at all. This is yet another AFL whitewash, an abdication of it (so called) drug free policy. Could you imagine their embarrassment if one of the stars of one of their franchise clubs were banned, especially on the eve of their first ever finals appearance? OMG I hope the Swans crush them into oblivion this weekend, never to be seen again (and I am not a great fan of the Swans' promotion by the AFL either) On the contrary. AFL have learned to bury skeletons even deeper than usual.

  28. So what about St Kilda? 12-10 record but a percentage well below 100 and they didn't make finals. In your black/white world, is that a pass or a fail? The answer is that things aren't as simple as pass/fail. In some respects the year was a pass, in others a fail. Overall, given we improved, we won more games with a much higher percentage, only one non-competitive loss (meaning we were in every other loss for the year until at least three quarter time), we were a legitimate finals chance until the second last week and we did all that with a young list (not an old one, like Carlton for example), I think those who want to argue the season was a pass have a pretty good case.

  29. The more you play for frees the less you get them. You even start missing the ones you should get. Gary Lyon became embarrassing late in his career. Someone should have a word in Hogan's ear.

  30. Well it sounds like we've given up on Hogan re-signing.. What's with the talk about him holding us to ransom and having an ego? He put off contract talks until the end of the season. Most of us were fine with this when it was announced. The season for us has been over for less than a week and already posters are losing it. He's gone home and will probably discuss his future with his family. I don't think we're going to get an answer within the next couple of weeks so probably best to just relax a little.

  31. Sure not all drugs are performance enhancing. Coke and ice are not supposed to be but players can run through brick walls and think they are bulletproof. That makes them performance enhancing in my book. As for weed well I have a simple response. It's illegal and they get paid well to play a highly competitive sport. If they want to indulge go find another career.

  33. I bet Roos knew Frawley was leaving. That's why he played him up forward.

  34. I suspect the development at Richmond has been very poor. He played some terrific games last year but for some inexplicable reason they dropped him for the Elim Final. He was looking to get out last year but they talked him into another contract. Didn't get many games this year. A surprise since recently Hardwick says he has been playing kids. Lennon probably figures he won't get many chances with Hardwick as coach. I think he will be a very good player, especially with some good development. Would take him at the Dees; just not sure he is any better than the young guys we have and we have more important needs to fill elsewhere.

  37. I have mentioned on here before my best friend is quite good friends with Jesse and the info i've had for a long time is that he loves Melbourne (the city) and the club and loves the direction but there are factors in WA that are a consideration, i am 90% sure he'll stay and that that'll be locked away before round 1, but until the ink is dry on his contract noone can be certain. i think the club is now in a position where losing Jesse wouldn't set us back 5 years, it'd be a dent but i think we could cover it.

  38. As far as I am aware all (most?) illicit drugs are banned on match day anyway which covers most of your points above. If you play a match while under the influence its the same as having PED's in your system if you're tested by ASADA.

  39. Seriously? Avoiding drug testing will become nothing! I hope not, I have given up on the Olympics I'd hate to give up on footy.

  41. Why is that? We had a higher percentage than them but won 2 fewer games. Indeed, we could have lost to Geelong by 60 and our percentage would have stayed over 100. So I don't think that's right. I am wholly confident that if we had finished with St Kilda's record you would have called the season a fail: no finals, percentage under 100, 0-5 on the road, three blowout losses.

  44. So the AFL have been caught almost literally burying a body. Their excuse: "Good timing! We were just digging up this body ... to take to the coroner ... valuable evidence ... Thank god, the criminals might now be brought to justice." Meanwhile at AFL house, Mark Evans receives the secret code and starts warming up the shredders.
