Can't believe what I'm reading here. There is zero problem with letting your hair down and having a few beers after a game - win or lose. I like the fact that these young guys clearly enjoy each others company and their bond will only get stronger. Armchair amateurs upset with another insipid performance expect the players to wallow in their misery until it suits them. Sorry, it doesn't and shouldn't work that way. And to draw the conclusion that they're not hurting as much as you because they can still function as likeable humans post-game is a visceral reaction at its finest.9 points

I tell you what Nashor, I sat through it yesterday and it was as bad as it seems!7 points

I'd prefer we didn't start stuffing around with him. Flexibility is a good thing, but he's a young player still who needs to become elite in one position first. I don't want to end up with a player who is a little bit good at everything but not great at anything - ala Lynden Dunn until age 27. Permanent defender for mine, to be used in other positions only when times are desperate, like yesterday.7 points

If you're over 30 stop commenting about social media. You don't get it. You don't understand it. Just let it go. For the rest of you move on. We will never get over the bad losses and negative culture by dwelling on more losses. The boys are close friends. That's a bloody good thing. Most of Hogan's pictures feature him at games, trainings, in MFC games or with team mates. Nathan Jones interacts with the guys on social media as much as anyone. Bernie Vince is out with the lads. They have the extra days break this week. They may as well the chance to have a Saturday night.7 points

I've never seen so many Dees players socialising together! This is a great sign. Look at all the new faces, the future. Surely a few beers can't hurt? Petracca looks awesome....will he play this year for Casey?6 points

If Demonland had its way, the players would be chained up in the dungeon and released only upon meal time and for training and games.6 points

From Casey your options are Jamar, Michie, Grimes and Toumpas. I like the defensive game that Grimes and Toump played. I really want to see Toump back in the side sooner rather than later.5 points

Hard not to be negative after kicking 8.17 against the Essendon seconds. Putrid is putrid which ever way you look at it.5 points

Why is it you keep comparing posters you disagree with to women? The sexist subtext is starting to get annoying.5 points

1. Grandfather played for them. 2. David Neitz. Loved watching him play and was a great leader. Him and Schwarz came to a family BBQ in 1994. They sandwiched my cousin (who was a pain in the ass) in between two couches and used his head as a handball target. 3. 2000 prelim. 4. When Schwarz went down with his third knee. 5. Answer to question two is closely followed by Farmer. I spoke to the guy at the bottle shop yesterday. I told him I was a melbourne supporter and needed something strong. He said he was a Fremantle supporter but doesn't mind melbourne. A lot of people over in the west say the same thing. At first I thought it was nice, now I see it's just pity. I want people to hate us.4 points

I am an old codger, she would have a further 10 years on me. No point in being suggestive because by the game's end it was almost past our bedtime and she had cleaning to do. Just having a red or two whilst I watch the Lions and Swans.4 points

I agree and appreciate that. But to be honest I've revisited that position at least 20 times. Like most of us, I'll stick with them like a bloody sap. But I'll defend to the death my right to express my disdain for the way they waste my time and money by turning in dog performances like that. Any self respecting AFL side should've belted that Essendon side into oblivion. We're back to being the second worst, if not worst side in the league. It's unbelievable really.4 points

Thanks guys for helping out - diabolical rain here and I fear for my iPhone. That was a nice soccer goal from Jaydn Hunt followed by one to Mitch Gent.4 points

Play him forward pinch hit in the ruck like Blicavs...Dawes to Casey and off we go. Frost &/or Fitz back, maybe pick up Tomlinson. If he was able to play against us I'm sure he would kick somewhere between 5 & 7 straight...4 points

You're nothing but a [censored] stirrer and a prude mate. Everyone, in all walks of life, heads out to something on a Saturday night. These blokes shouldn't have to change their plans to suit a win or a loss. Stop acting like a 13 year old girl and following all their instagram accounts looking for something to get stuck into them for. Get a life.4 points

Part of the problem is in the mindset of the mids, who try and barge through players. That is not a high percentage play as we see every week. Then when they are caught, they try the little handball, that is usually turned over. It is poor football and poor coaching to allow it to continue as it has for most of the year. If they want to learn how to do it, video Mitchell of the Hawks and see what he does. Geelong and the Hawks are famous for the quick release backwards, to a player coming forwards who then can dish off the ball. Effort and work rate are a big part of this, as when the first disposal is given off, other players forward of the ball are running to make space and give the option. We are poor at this. It comes from practice and game plans put in place by the Coaches. The same can be said of the loose man in defence, that has been used at least 3 times this year, that I can recall, to cost us a game, including yesterday. Why wasn't someone sent to Baguley by the Coaches to stop his clearances and cut off an easy way out for the bombers' defenders. Also why did our forwards play from behind the whole game, allowing the Defenders easy uncontested marks and possessions. Surely the Coaches could have addressed that early in the game when it became obvious. Further the long bombs into the forward line are useless when your key forwards are not marking the ball or bringing it to ground, like what was happening yesterday, yet we persisted with the long bombs.4 points

The writing was on the wall when the bombers got belted by the saints and with Melbourne being Melbourne it went to script. We are such a pathetic organisation its unbelievably frustrating. They r trying to increase membership but IMO they are damm lucky to have the core of 30k odd that stick with them through this shitz. Like my young daughter said yesterday "it's like we are never going to improve".4 points

I have no idea why people are so harsh on Garland? He performs consistently, he is a good user of the football, he goes hard and gives his all week in week out He has gone through the same hell as a lot of the other players, and has stuck it out. He's had a decent season, and it's beyond me why people would want him gone Howe on the other hand, can take his speccie highlight reel and back the truck out!4 points

Be ridiculously disappointed. Tell myself I won't watch another Demons game this season then watch our game the following week.4 points

INS: Grimes Newton Fitzpatrick OUTS: Stretch ANB Dawes I Think Grimes has been stiff this year and when he has been in the side he has actually played well and defended properly. Need a bit more experience down back aswell. Newton for the outside class and hardness. I have lost patience with Dawes. He adds nothing to this side and is such a liability. Mcdonald showed more as a forward in the last QTR then Dawes has all year. Bring Fitzy in as the defender to go back. Should have played today. Was very stiff to been dropped in the first place. .3 points

Easy to forget how great he was in the first six weeks, isn't it. He's a defender. He's not in form, but if we keep moving out of form players into new positions we'll never settle as a team.3 points
-
Can't bring myself to watch that show (plus Play School is currently on :s) can someone give cliff notes.3 points
-
The only reason ANB, Stretch or Harmes should be go back to Casey is if the coaches said...we will play you for X games then give you a 'recovery' game or 2 at Casey. ie # of sequential games played is part of their development. No point having them in and out of the team like yo-yo's. Its no way to build form or confidence or trust.3 points

It amazes me how dumb we are. It didn't take an Einstein to realise that once Joey awoke that he was ON!! Where was the double checking a the solid thump or two....NOWHERE...thats where. One bloke kicked 5 straight...had he not...somehow we still win. In reality only 5 or so of their blokes were playing ok...but they were enough to beat ALL of us....how the f... can that be ??3 points

It's actually a bit embarrassing and shows the posters' great lack of awareness of their own weaknesses. They might as well be saying "I don't have the emotional control to function after a loss, so the players shouldn't either."3 points

If we lose to Brisbane, I'm smacking $100 down on us to finish last. If we can't get up for that match, we won't win another one for the year. Holy [censored], this is EXACTLY like last year. have mercy on me, flogs, for I am lost.3 points

I think what it boils down to is attitude. I've been anxious about this game all week and have been absolutely filthy and miserable about the result all night. Even now lying in bed there's a sinking feeling in my stomach at what transpired in that game. So seeing the players on the [censored] and boasting about it on social media kind of rubs me the wrong way. In a way I wonder if the players are even all that upset by the performances they put up? That said, everyone has a different way of releasing and putting myself back in the mindset of a 21 year old, I can understand. I also see the benefits of the young brigade bonding together like this, so the long-term picture probably outweighs how I feel right now.3 points

I mean FFS people we want Hogan to go home with a melbourne bird tonight and settle down for the rest of his life here!3 points
-
Yes.. That's because and god help me. HE CALLED FOR IT TO BE BOMBED IN ALL DAY!!! Not once did he lead to space.. God forbid he lead more than once and double back to make space for the rest of the forward line.. Which we are told he is just "playing a role" Today that role was to plant his fat ass in the goal square and play marks up.. I love him, but I hope he learns he has to more than just clunk marks.. You can lead up at the kicker and demand them put it infront of you!3 points

Only Melbourne supporters could be broken enough to want their own players suspended just to see them out of the team. In a team full of peahearts, keeping the biggest peaheart of all just to maintain currency seems a wildly shortsighted decision in the midst of a "cultural overhaul."3 points

Pick 5, as much as you'd like it to be a bankable star, is just as likely to produce an O'Rourke, Plowman, Morton, a Jarrad Grant, a Bennell, a Scully, a Hurley, even a Toumpas (don't get me wrong, he has time & I like the progress the kid has shown this year). A Gumbleton, Hansen or Leuenberger, even a Gibbs, who took longer than Watts to show enough. Plenty of solid players, but few of those names are stars. I think for a top 5 pick to turn out to be as good as Prestia is a very good result. Any better is pure luck and quite rare.3 points
