  4. Clarko got set up. Hence the phone footage that these thugs now want to sell. It's only an issue because of attitudes like yours No wonder coaches get paid such huge wages.

  5. Never underestimate the thrill of responding to your own post..... Anyhoo... Jonesy was miked up and they ran a small highlight's package of his leadership on the ground - the guy's amazing and inspirational. Spoke about the mental state of the players (this is for you, SWYL) and he coped with the situation by digging in further, but he admitted that he wasn't 'giving enough of his time to help...' Was asked the perennial JW question and he responded by saying internally, everyone's backing him every week. In his 3rd B and F speech, he publically thanked the coach for challenging him even further and cited Christian Petracca as the most exciting coming through. Loved Jesse, Salem, Brayshaw and Vanders. Spoke about the 'intensity' and how much 'they wanted it' (players mentioned) I love him......there, I've said it.

  8. It looks like playing Melbourne is a recipe for tired legs. If only we could play the team we play each week the week after we play them. We'd win every week.

  9. I know its a different era. But amongst the reasons I love Jamar, Jones, and Watts is the loyalty to the club they have shown. Others as well, committed such as Grimes Trenners. Jeremy Howe, should be wanting to see the good times with these players he has been through so many struggles with. If he doesn't then let him go. Its gonna be his loss in the long term. Stuff him and any other 'premiership window' hunting player that doesn't want to win for the Melbourne Footy Club. get rid of them. Actually what also would be good is to let his manager know how much of an oleaginous (great word this - means creatures that have slime - like snails, slugs and leaches) creature he really is by going public with Howes 'open to offers' stance. Pathetic management that lacks any trait of uniqueness whatsoever. What a [censored]! Note to J Howe: sack the [censored] 'managing' you, get yourself into Pj's office and say "rightio Pete, $450,000 a year where do I sign mate" Pete will respond with "right here Jezza. Cheers mate. You can go and tatt yourself right up with that income now get the f@#% out of my office young champ as i have a lot of work to do. Go on...p**s off" everyones a winner.

  12. "“One hundred per cent I want to be here,” Howe told the Sunday Herald Sun. “That’s the situation my manager and that will work out, but my first priority is, of course, I want to stay. “The way the article came out it does look a little bit sh--, but from my point of view it’s not." http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/jeremy-howe-says-he-wants-to-sign-new-contract-to-stay-at-melbourne/story-fni5f91a-1227320576786 This weekend just gets better and better

  14. Which goes to show the quality of commercial news in this country - over 2000 people have died in an earthquake overnight and we have the Clarkson story leading our news bulletin? Terrible "journalism" on the actual story - they interviewed to a mum who had her son killed by a king hit. There's no way Clarkson's action was anything like a king hit and for Channel 7 to suggest otherwise is a disgrace.

  15. No they don't. This wasn't random it was clearly set up with smartphone ready. The AFL should do these guys for harassment. Clarko should have broken the pr!cks nose.

  17. The thing I really took out of the interview was Jones talking about how just getting the footy was not having a good game and Roos has been disappointed with some of his higher possession games in the past. They even used to disagree about if he had played well or not. I had heard as recently as early last season that Jones was one of the poorest at the club at blocking for others as per the stats our internal statisticians do. Obviously this has been rectified and he is leading from the front and Roos is building a culture of good habits.

  18. Someone comes up to you and starts berating you for being bad at your job. He's so close that he is bumping you and you can even feel his breath on you. You feel intimidated by him. You ask him to move, not once but three times, and he doesn't. What do you do? Completely with Clarko on this one.

  19. They would have no fame if Clarko hadn't punched the guy. I can see the defence to assaults now, this guy annoyed me so I hit him. If you think Clarko had the right to hit a bloke who hadn't touched him and was clearly a drunken moron, you are dreaming. What if every player did that, in similar circumstances? Would Roos have reacted in the same manner?

  20. Good on Clarko. Would have done the exact same thing.. except harder.

  21. I like the target idea, 12 points, and when you hit it m m m m multiball! For 5 minutes 3 different coloured balls are in play, the regular red/yellow, blue and a black one. Regular ball - standard new age scoring applies. Blue - double points. Black - triple points or you get the win if you can kick it into an umpires head. - for Richmond games only, there'll be a 4th pink ball, for them to play with gently amongst themselves.

  23. The commentary around Watts is a disgrace (not you specifically, but the issue in general!). Both Mitchie and Newton 'short-armed' marking contests on Friday night and not a thing has been mentioned about this. Chapman did twice yesterday and nothing was said. Actually Newton did a number of 'hesitant' acts and has escaped a bagging. Watts gets bagged for things that everyone else does a bit and some do a lot. We all expect more from him and i'm not sure why. We hold Watts to higher standards than any other player. Now standards are not bad, it is their implementation and consistency that matter. The scrutiny and criticism is massive. Dunn played scared for years and has copped less. Garland panics and we just put it down to "poor form" and move on. Watts will never be the player I want him to be. I've accepted that he is a flanker with the potential to be a massive asset as we improve. Everything needs to be done to retain him and see him become that asset.

  24. Dom looks like he is labouring. He had been playing lower minutes in the first 3 rounds. He spent a lot of the last quarter at half forward. He seems one step off with his disposal. If he clicks into gear it will make a massive difference.

  25. Corked hip. Will be fine. He finished out the game. He was knackered at the end because he had not been off the ground for the lat quarter and a half. Ran himself into the ground.

  30. How about Newton, Dunn, Michie etc... are pulling their weight, their positive influence far outweighs the negatives they are doing at the moment so they're escaping criticism. Lumumba you can have, I don't like him, never wanted him. His last 3 weeks reminded me exactly why. Watts, however, is in such poor form his positives come nowhere near his negatives, he's cost us momentum against Adelaide, brought the spotlight on himself with questionable marking attempts in that game, then backs it up with another in the Richmond game. A skill error? He looked down and closed his eyes, that was the error. I get it, people are sick of seeing him cop it, we want to defend our own, but some of you are going to to extremes the other way in doing so and are coming across as delusional. It's bad luck for Jack, but the criticism is warranted and there for a reason.

  31. Lumumba did worse than Watts in our first game. He ran under the ball, he didn't even stand there to mark. Watts at least stood there. Westoff last night in his first marking attempt last night did a "Watts". I thought Carey's comments on Watts dropped mark in the first half of the third quarter were unfair. It was pizzing down, the ball was slippery and Watts stood under the ball to take the mark and dropped it. It was a skill error, not one of courage. Lumumba would have been a yard closer to the kicker and not got anywhere near it. Watts has been done to death, there is nothing else to be said really, we just watch and see what happens.

  32. He retains his spot in the same way other players who have had patchy form this year eg Tyson, Dunn, Dawes, Garlett and even Lumumba. The spotlight is always on Jack and it seems only Jack. Until he stops following the coach's instructions he stays in the side...he gets the same deal as all the players. For all DL's and especially in the media, I hope all the anti-Watts rubbish stops this week. He plays his 100th game next Saturday. Lets focus on that for a while. A worthy and loyal achievement at a club that has struggled for his whole career. Most people acknowledge he would be a better player at Hawthorn, Geelong or a better side. Have we all forgotten the relief when re-signed a few years ago? He stuck by us. Now its for us to stick by him. I hope the cheer squad honour him on the banner next Saturday. I hope Melbourne supporters come out in droves to celebrate. I hope we cheer him loudly. It may just be the confidence boost he needs.

  35. There are many skills in football. Each player has a set of skills and weaknesses. Exercising these with an oval ball extreme pressure and particularly on a wet field is harder than the comfort of your lounge room couch. Plenty of mistakes last night particularly in the first half but we kept recovering enough for a comfortable win. Time to celebrate the sublime skills a Salem, the excitement of hogans markings, brayshaws maturity, JKH elusive agility, VDBs brutality and skill (wait till he has a summer of training) the untiring dominance of TMcD. All make mistakes but the upside is now far outweighing the down

  36. Love him! He's having more impact this season than what Petracca would have had, and we can inject Petracca as a new recruit ala Hogan in 2016. Not saying I'm happy Petracca went down injured when he did, but from a team perspective it hasn't worked out too badly. To pluck someone from the Canberra leagues and see them impact AFL games straight away in this manner is rather impressive recruiting...

  37. It was obvious last night and in previous games, that we don't handball properly. We belt handballs to team mates as hard as we can, making it impossible for the receiver to take the ball and then play on. The idea of a good handball, is to make it easy for the receiver to take possession. Somebody needs to teach these guys the correct way to handball to a team mate who is a few metres away. It will improve our chances of retaining possession and lead to more scoring.

  41. Hmmm.... That's a huge criticism of Roos if he stays in this week. I'll watch with interest. Oh, and I'm astounded he's playing without confidence, couldn't imagine why.

  42. I am Watt's harshes critic. A part of me is saying he should be dropped until he pulls his finger out of his ass.But at the same time i look at Lynden Dunn and Justin Westhoff from day dot struggled with their potential and wasn't until they hit the 100-120 game mark that they really started to come out of their shell. I think Wattsy should sit down with Lynden Dunn and talk about how he Got through all the expectations. Roosy won't drop Watts. I don't agree with it because someone like a Jimmy Toumpas rarely gets the abundance of chances Jack gets. But i think we just have to continue to play Watts and hopefully he has a break out game. Dropping him will just hurt his confidence even more.

  43. In fact, with the appalling umpiring and the 5 posters we should have won by another 6-8 goals.

  44. One day the Watts haters will get their wish. Until then they need to acknowledge one thing, the coach does not agree with them. For all the vitreol and angst stop and ask yourself, do you know more about football than Paul Roos? Probably not would be my guess. If Roos wants Watts in the side that is good enough for me. Edit-fix typo

  45. Yeah, let's change the scoring so when we lose its by 300+ points instead of 100

  46. Agree on the umpiring, it was horrible, obviously inconsistent and I was watching with a tiger supporting mate and even he said, when his side has a rub of the green like that and can't win the game, serious issues down at tigerland, having said that we also gave away some absolutely stupid free kicks through trying to be aggressive. the other thing I hate is high contact when a bloke drops his knees, as far as I am concerned that should be no different to staging, they are magnifying an action to draw a free kick, how is joel selwood ducking his head any different from a bloke taking a dive, the end result is a bloke doing something to draw a soft free, if they duck their head and get hit high, too bad, unless they are legitimately head over the ball attacking it, no free should be rewarded for a bloke buckling at the knees to draw high contact

  47. I think this was the most complete game we've played in years. We won every quarter for the first time in I have no idea how long. We controlled the game for most of the day, and when Richmond were ascendant we closed up on the defence and shut the game down until they ran out of puff and we could take it away again. Whole team defence, some real quality in attack, multiple scorers with no one dominant focal point. This was a close to a modern game as we've ever played. Just an amazing effort from the team.

  48. Agree, the Carlton people thought Eddie wanted too much and now are regretting they didn't pay the cash. On another note apparently PJ is not happy about how this has played out in the press. If Howe does go we will be wanting a super trade as he is not a free agent.

  49. Another thing I enjoyed last night was when Brayshaw got flattened on the tigs bench and he just got straight back up and ran to the stoppage ready to contest it. He didnt stay down and throw the arms back like danger did last week. Also how good is his tackling. They just stick. On the radio last night they asked Jones what he said to the players on the ground after the game when they were in a huddle and he basically said after the Gc win we have have got caught up in it and got a little to excited about it for a few days and there was a let down the week after and he doesnt want it to happen this week.
