Ok, which Demonland poster was the guy taking his shirt off on the TV?13 points

not much said about michie had a great game. 19 possessions from 60% game time. most inside 50's, no critical errors, no frees against conditions suited him being an inside player without great speed, but nevertheless very effective and composed12 points

Dismal 2 weeks and wasn't much better v GWS. To say he was OK tonight is a tad laughable. He's spooked. Get him out of the spotlight and try to get him some sort of confidence, it ain't getting easier against Freo. Give Pedo his chance, he'll clunk a few and hit some bodies. I can't recall a harder at it Melbourne team than this, you've got 3 and 4 gamers killing themselves for the team, Jack Watts hasn't bought in, and the pressure is mounting. Surely enough is enough, he just needs to go and work on himself, doesn't have to be any shame in it, just go and do it.12 points

I haven't got much to add about the game apart from that I enjoyed it thoroughly,....just thought I would add this cherry on top Was sitting on top deck of Ponsford and went for break at half time, as I was coming back up the steps was nearly bowled over by this big guy bounding down the steps He apologised, I recognised him and he recognised me, I asked him how he was going and he gave me big smile and said he was great, looked healthy and happy Name - Christian Petracca12 points

What an unbelievable effort from our back 6 last night. Its good to talk about the likes of Hogan and Vandenberg but I thought at times when we were under immense pressure from their inside 50s we just stood up to the task. Howe: Gave him a spray earlier on for showing Frawley like efforts but got better as the game went on. A great effort. Jetta: Unlucky to go off with the knock but the first half he was vital I thought. McDonald: Some serious man crush here. I thought earlier on Riewoldt was just starting to get on top but Tommy stuck to his guns and dominated the whole game. Continued to provide run and carry, just needs to fix his limitations and he will be a star of the comp. Another big scalp and a real general and leader down back for us. Dunn: A true Vice Captains game. Lead right from the front and was sensational all night. And just to think 18 months ago this bloke career was at the crossroads. Love it dunny! Salem: Was pretty critical of him last year but each week im eating my fair slice of humble pie to make up for last year. I don't know if anyone noticed when he went back with the flight of the ball I think in the 2nd or last Qtr and took a vital mark. I can see why some draft experts were comparing him to Luke Hodge. His toughness and courage is right up there. He tackles and harasses his opponents and and efforts are outstanding. Couldn't get over how clean and tidy he was under the wet. I seriously don't think he missed a kick all night? Another fantastic game by Salem. One of many Jason Taylors special! Garland: Back to his 2013 form. Must admit was worried about him at the start of the year but he is showing what a really important player he is for us. Provided drive and defended well. Well done Col. How about the pathetic holding the ball against him. Could not seriously believe that! We are building a serious defence here. Club are finding it hard to get an easy kick inside 50 because of how well these guys defend and also the pressure from the midfield. And we do NOT miss Frawley one bit!11 points

Too true, including the presser after last year's loss to us. And nowhere else to put this, but a big thanks to the Captain, Russian and Dunny, all of whom were at my nephew's Auskick early this morning, and sang the Grand Old Flag with quite a big group of boys, arms all linked around one another, decked out in their MFC jumpers. Awesome!11 points

A few observations ... Our constant pressure was amazing - best since I don't know when. Defence was extremely well organised & efficient and we made their forward line play in a dysfunctional manner. Attack on the ball and the man was first rate - we worried them into errors. Our counter attacking style had the Roos stamp and we often looked dangerous going forward. Tempo footy is building by the looks of it. Clearing the ball long from the last line of defense was also smart play on a wet night - because of that, they were often 3 or 4 possessions away from scoring. All the players seem to know their role and they have confidence in each other. We had a number of good players as others here have mentioned but a special mention to Jamar - he went hard at it all night and got on top of Maric as the match wore on. He toiled manfully and was quite influential. Our work at the stoppages was a standout - they couldn't get enough clean possession whilst we often did. Our forward line functioned well and was open for a lot of the night - another Roos stamp. Roos outcoached Hardwick comprehensively. A fantastic win!11 points

Also, I wanted to give a shout out to Dawes. He copped a lot of flak this week, and the majority of it was warranted. But I thought he really lifted tonight. Led by example in the forward line, did his best work when the game was at its hottest (first quarter), and used his body to his advantage. There's still more he needs to do, but on a night which wasn't great for talls, I thought he did a much better job.11 points

Salem has been excellent, his attack on the ball and his 1 on 1 work is fantastic for a kid. He's not receiving enough love if you ask me. McDonald, Jetta and Salem rarely ever lose a 1 on 1. I'd still like Frost developed and used back there, he'd be perfect for the tall athletic types like Griffiths, who could've been a huge problem last night.10 points

The Garland holding the ball decision makes me question whether or not the umpires actually know the rules. In no way was that a correct decision.9 points

Grimes in for Jetta is pretty straightforward. Either Toump or Bail in for Kent, whoever shows the better form.7 points

Its no wonder Jack lost confidence this week. Every day, every newspaper, every tv and radio program has talked 'Jack Watts' and even those that meant well did so by highlighting his weaknesses. The young man has had this crushing pressure on him since day one. Yet he goes out into the cauldron week after week, cameras and lights blazing. That my friends takes courage! I wish I had the time to compile the stats for other recent #1 picks" Kreuzer Gibbs Murphy Scully Whitfield Patton Some have played more games, some less. Some have had injuries some not. But crikey Jack is one of the best performers among them. He is what he is. He is one of us. He plays the role asked of him (which may not be what DL's want of him). Embrace him, warts and all.7 points

Who is the genius who dug up vandenBerg from obscurity? Needs a medal. A big bodied tackling machine with skills. I feel really sorry for the likes of Jordie McK who is all heart, and has stuck through the very dark years but will really struggle to get a run.7 points

What an absolute pleasure it is to consider the prospect of following the remainder of this round knowing we have the four points from last night in the bag? The first game today starts in a little more than an hour at Westpac Stadium in Wellington NZ between two of my least loved opposition clubs in Carlton and St. Kilda - it promises to be a boring contest. I hope the players follow the example of those Collingwood players and eat lots of steak in the land of the long white cloud6 points

Just got home from game - tired (not used to big crowds departing these days), elated and now really looking forward to see how we fare with Freo. A few ramblings - note, I am yet to see replay so may need to be corrected on some things. It is possible that by next year we will be able to pick a side that will have only two players left from our 2012 list and we will win. Everyone has commented on vandenBerg - his tackling was immense although his disposal tonight was a little off - tricky conditions though. Michie had a huge third term as well - he's not a tackler but with Tyson injured and forced to play out of the goal square - he really stepped up into the ball winner role and his low flat passes were superb. Brayshaw - another big bodied courageous mid - big tick to our recruiters and probably only Heeney or Hoges can beat him for Rising Star award this year. Newton - another absolute bargain - he almost scored about three goals but kept getting cut off by his own teammates. I wasn't sure about him until tonight. He's another big body with a booming left foot. Hoges - if you were there you couldn't believe what he did. Rising Star nomination this week and with Tom Mc - the best bookends we've had since Wight and Jakovich. Then there's Garland and Salem - no wonder poor old Grimesy can't get a game. Garland took Martin or Cotch when they drifted forward and smashed em. Who was it that used to say he wasn't fit in the pre-season? Howey also had a huge second half - providing dash that we needed. Even Wattsy figured out that it was OK to put your body in to play during the last term and possibly did enough to keep his spot - I have a feeling his 100th game is pretty soon? There were six injuries and three of them should be fine, two will be out and one in doubt. Jones (copped a big knock to his shoulder) and McDonald had a tight calf that hindered him big time, but with nine days off he might be OK. Michie also looked sore towards the end - remember he only had a five day break so hopefully nothing major. Jetta (concussion) has had quite a few knocks of late, so I'd be very surprised if he plays against Freo. Lucky Walters. Kent tore a hammy in a chase down early in game and will miss for sure. The biggest worry to be honest is Tyson, who had his knee taped and clearly isn't moving right. He may be nursed along but let's wait and see on training reports this week. Final comment to the guys that will say that our balance was right and similar to how we structured up against Gold Coast. Yes the balance was right, but it's a case of horses for courses and if you think going into the next three weeks - (Sandi and Clarke, Pyke and Tippett, McEvoy and Ceglar) with just one ruckman and Dawes backing him up, you are deluded. We will have to play Spencer or Gawn with Jamar and a decision on which one will be made on Sunday night after the VFL game I suspect.6 points

Just got home from the game - bloody brilliant. So proud of the boys. I enjoyed the whole experience. Had a cry when Ron held up the flame, sang the national anthem with gusto, screamed my lungs out, watched the Richmond supporters leave in droves and listened to the Richmond supporters ring in to the radio threatening to microwave their memberships on the way home. Great start to the weekend. The umpiring was terrible but the biggest laugh was listening to Hardwick saying Richmond "could beat anyone". He is in la - la land. We were fantastic - they were pathetic and soft. Just setting Foxtel to record the game so I can watch it tomorrow. Go Dees ❤️6 points

I was at the game. Sat in the Ponsford Stand - we have some really loud, passionate and humorous fans!!! Jesse Hogan is the best young player I've ever seen at this club. And what ever we're paying Paul Roos... it isn't enough. I haven't forgotten how bad we were in 2013. To not only get the side to compete but actually beat opponents and the way we are doing it. Our side is now harder than a cat's head. What a coach.6 points

Not sure if you're familiar with the old British comedy Not The Nine O'Clock News hardtack but they had a sketch where a soccer player kicked a penalty goal, only to have it saved on the replay. Rowan Atkinson et al. Anyway, can't get the smile off my face. Four quarters of good pressure and intensity, and we didn't drop our heads despite a very sloppy first half. Kent was playing really well before his injury, and Michie was superb when he came on. There's a lot to like about this new MFC, but it's hard to look past the sheer awesomeness of Jesse Hogan. And to the coach, and PJ: Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Go Demons!5 points
