  1. Stop. Next fish pun gets the thread closed. It was funny for the first 5 pages, if I'm generous. Some of us come here for our dose of lies, innuendo and non-events you know!

  4. Aware that it's now quite common knowledge that we will take Angus with either our 2nd or 3rd pick. Just thought I'd put my two bobs in. Been lucky enough to be employed in an environment which gets me quite familiar with the recruiting side of AFL, watching a lot of TAC, VFL and NEAFL. Having keenly followed Brayshaw this year knowing that we would be up around the mark again, I can comfortably say that this kid is the best pure mid of the draft by quite a stretch. Watched Eastern v Sandy late in the year where both Petracca and Brayshaw were playing, and even better were matched up on one another for about 60% of the match - Brayshaw won the battle, not hands down, but wore Petracca into the ground over the duration of the match with a work rate I've only seen in one other kid before and that kid is Joel Selwood. Absolutely elite disposal on both sides of his body (both hands and kicking), much like Sam Mitchell where you really are bemused as to what his preferred side is. Clean hands and a freakish ability to be where the ball is after the initial ruck contest. I think we are going to get an absolute gem in Brayshaw and I will be keen to see if we can develop him into the player I know he's capable of becoming over the next few years. Go Dees.

  8. It's interesting visiting the Geelong forum on BF and reading them whine about being bent over on the trade table. That they won't get full value because he's had recent surgeries, wants to leave and "has issues". That they'll get low-balled. Sound familiar Cats ?

  12. Brayshaw is no Mitchell, he's a long way off they can't even be compared its that far, I certainly didn't see him on the bottom of packs like Mitchell constantly hand-balling it out. Each and every year I see the same few posters claiming that draftee X (predicted draft range 1 - 3) "will be a star!". I read the same for Coniglio, O'Rourke, Aish, Kelly and Toumpas (1 of these could probably eventuate to stardom but certainly not all). People dramatically overate the draft as they get immersed in the hype of the "unknown:", it's nothing but a lottery with a decreasing probability of selecting a "future star" as you go through the order. Brayshaw is nothing more than an 18 year old prospect with "potential" of becoming a high quality AFL player. From his highlights above very little got me excited, at one point I liked his attack on the ball and a tackle, but was about it. I constantly watched him receive the ball and blatantly bang it on the boot. His pace, agility and ability to evade players looked very average as well. I'm just not going to get carried away in the hype on this one.

  15. I just ran into a Melbourne person who is employed at the club, know him very well, there is nothing happening behind the scenes. Players we targeted have not wanted to move, and at this stage a sit stands, we are taking 2 & 3 to the draft. He did say, there are still 5 days to go, but its all very quiet at the moment. Just passing on.

  19. Dangerfield, 24, said the success of dual club player and current Demon Cameron Pederson was key to his decision to defect to Jolimont. “Every player plays footy to try and win a premiership and be in a successful side and that’s what I see here at Melbourne,” the All-Australian midfielder said. “Pedo has had some good luck coming here from the Kangaroos two years running for two seasons, that’s a pretty good strike rate.”

  25. 2010 Elimination Final vs Sydney (5 point loss) 16 disposals, 4 marks, 2 goals 2 behinds, 2 tackles 2011 Elimination Final vs Essendrug (62 point win) 16 disposals, 3 goals 2 behinds, 4 tackles, 7 inside 50's 2011 Semi FInal vs West Coast (3 point loss) 9 disposals, 2 goals, 5 tackles 2013 Elimination Final vs Richmond (20 point win) 10 disposals, 2 goals 2 behinds, 3 tackles 2013 Semi Final vs Sydney (24 point loss) 3 disposals, 3 tackles Bit of a mixed bag, loved the game vs Essendrug but last seasons Semi was a shocker (was he the sub?) Lets not forget he was a big part of his team getting to the finals, you cant just say you dont want a player because they dont dominate finals

  29. I think I hear d what you heard, I laughed at Barrett saying we will go hard to trade picks, but there is not much coming out of Melbourne. In other words, he is just making it up. SO bad its funny the unaccountability of Media in this Industry. They simply make things up, say whatever they want and no one can call them on it. Honestly, the Journalism levels in Footy are like the players' in the AFL. There is so many of them that the quality has dropped. The talent pool has been sucked dry and now, so many have a voice. Sorry for my rant!

  34. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/port-adelaide-looks-at-legal-option-over-ryder-20141007-10rkf4.html#ixzz3FTNMMwuN It's staggering the level of stupidity at all levels of this farcical club. He's either staying retired or playing with another club. This leaves you with two options: A. Let him move to another club and get a free compensation pick, potentially ~38. or B. Refuse to let him move to another club, so he stays retired and you receive nothing at all. Geez, hard choice that one. Naturally, they've chosen option B.
