The only quote - which is from his manager and not Watts himself - just says they're waiting for a coaching appointment. It says absolutely nothing of the sort regarding threats to walk. But by all means, jump the gun, accuse him blackmail, call him names etc.12 points

Hey Everyone. I have finally managed to create an account here after so long being denied due to my email address. Id like to start by saying, like most of you, I have been an avid Demons since i was born. My father and his father before him. I drifted away from the Dees when I was in my teens and have only since found my love for them again since 2010. My partner and I are committed to remaining Trident Members for as long as we both can. I truly hope and pray that the Club will emerge from its Darkest Days and shine as bright as ever in the competition. It breaks my heart a little bit more each time we lose, but im hopeful that now, we are on the right track and success is within the foreseeable future. I look forward to being an active member here, and sharing thoughts and opinions on the current and future of the club. Regards, Jeremy7 points

spent the best part of 40 years copping it in the neck from everybody, and im sick of it after milking last night , had dinner with the missus. put fox on to make sure the dees had done nothing else to embarrass me and low and behold , after a sip of tea and an after dinner bicky. I flicked around to see what was going on in this world. and then it happened 40 years of average drained away, draft pick mayhem drained away, players shirking the issue -gone cows dying in the shed during milking -gone, kids not helping on farm-gone those two words that changed my life and gave me ammunition for the next 6years B L A C K O P S GLORY GLORY TO ESSENDON good morning bomber supporters good morning ,good morning good morning ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha6 points

The AFL commission was set up because the clubs were all about the themselves and not for the greater good of the game...Fair enough... It is a non profit organisation there for the betterment of ALL clubs The millions of dollars spent on establishing clubs all around Australia for a truly national competition....Fair enough. What annoys me the most is the unfair way the weaker Victorian clubs are treated. North, the bulldogs, us, are told to manage our clubs better but but are expected to play at the G against interstate teams on mothers day at twilight...Are given no Friday nights games against top sides so that we can generate cash flow, attract sponsers, and corporate members. The MFC has been treated this way for a long time, and I understand the AFL saying that you have to deserve it, and that the broadcasters insist that the big matches are played to maximise audiences. They cannot then say "We have to bail these clubs out all the time". It is because of them that a lot of these clubs are where they are. A Melbourne Vs Hawthorn game at the G at twilight would attract 30 to 40 thousand and help us to become financial. The same game time against GWS lucky to get 10 thousand. And while I at it, I have played and coached local footy and never in my time have any of the local clubs got 1 iota of help from the AFL,not a footy, not a red cent of financial assistance, not even a recognition of grass root footy club struggling to remain in existence. Sorry rant over.......except for the AFL funded trip to the USA for the big wigs...During the season and the Ess saga.5 points

Watts' time at Melbourne: 1. First game is played out like the second coming of Christ. He is introduced over the loudspeaker as the team runs out onto the field. He has absolutely mauled by a pack of lions. 2. He struggles to make an impact under Mr No-Accountability Bailey. 3. The club's CEO and football department cause a rift with the playing group. 4. Bailey is sacked. 5. Neeld is instated. He throws Watts down back to get easy possessions. 6. Club is belted almost every week from late-2011 to the present day. 7. Second coach in his short career is sacked. Watts clearly has very little faith in the club, and I don't blame him. The only thing valuable about Watts is his potential, and it's more the club's fault than his. Potential is enough to get you an average league salary. Unless you're Tom Scully. The guy wants to know who his coach will be. Why commit to a club that has failed so spectacularly to guide you through your employment? Why stay there under the uncertainty of another poor decision when you can bolt to play under Mick Malthouse, who provided more of a shoulder than anyone at the club at Watts' lowest point in his career? Some people need to wake up and smell the roses. The problem isn't Watts.5 points

If we got picks 1 and 3, If they'd take it, I would trade pick 1 to GWS for pick 2 and Taylor Adams, then use 2 & 3 on the best midfield talent in the draft. We don't need Boyd. We need midfield grunt.5 points

I'm not sure what the fuss is. If I was Jack, I'd want to sit with the coach and say "what are your plans for me? What position do you think you will play me?". Jack would have an idea of what he enjoys and he had been shuffled around. I wouldn't blame him from wanting someone with a solid vision. Also, if seems obvious he didn't get on with Neeld but loves Craig. I don't mind him waiting to make sure we dont get a Neeld clone personality wise.5 points

I'm happy to be left in the dark, as long as the right decision is made in the end. We don't need to be updated every five minutes.5 points

I have heard from a good source that Jack is holding out because he is disappointed that, although he has improved and is showing glimpses of being a future star of the game he still hasn't made it onto the Demonland banner.5 points

Without trying to be cynical or such there was nothing really world shatteringly landmark about that summary. I think a few of us here could have assembled all that just by observing whats taken place. I have no doubt though the really interesting stuff is in the report proper. Its all a process. Sad that any of its required tbh. Thanks John4 points

Stockdale has repeated that he will be President or walk away. He will not accept the Vice Presidency which apparently has been offered. To me he appears petulant and it is about him, not the club.4 points

Isn't this the fear that many had? That players were not happy? Whose fault is it? The last coach wasn't great for, and apparently to, young Jack who has the biggest decision of his life to make. He can't wait to see whether we screw up the next appointment? I really don't know how we can all lament the basket case we have become but expect blind faith from the players whose careers are affected by this club's malaise. Get off your high horse and get down in the mud where the club is.4 points

I don't get it. "Top 4 clubs have approx 14 midfielders". But somehow Casey only has 2, that aren't giving everyone else a look-in?4 points

Correct me if i'm wrong but am i to understand that our number one draft pick, (who has been nothing but under whelming since the day we drafted him) is waiting to see if the club (who has been patiently waiting for years for him to actually fulfil or even look like coming close to fulfilling his potential) is able to sign a coach that is up to HIS liking before he even considers putting pen to paper?!!!??!!! Excuse me, i just need a moment to myself here:4 points

Tx to all D2D volunteers that made it last night & those that tried to be there. 25 volunteers & we exceeded the target set for the night. Several hundred members that agreed to take the club's emails & strengthen our sponsorship value. Great work team.3 points

I love the club and I'd be doing the same. Gee, what a disgrace he is - worrying about his development and future. Particularly after having coaches who feed him to the wolves, publicly denigrate and humiliate him etc. Let 's kick him to death.3 points

From that I deduce a number of things but the very clear one for me is the AFL is our administrator. Not news but is clear that they are approving every move we make. I am happy with that. Roll on Mr. AFL and Mr Jackson we are in your hands. If you cannot save us no one will.3 points

I say we listen to the AFL because we need their help, and I honestly believe they have our best interests at heart. So many independ boards have tried and failed, it's time for something new. The key is stability and unity. We can't afford an ugly battle.3 points

Oh, this isn't good... Does anyone else feel ill when someone uses "the fans right to decide" and in the next breath wants the AFL to install them immediately? He doesn't want the AFL to be puppet master unless he is the puppet. I guess we are headed for an EGM and an incumbent AFL-endorsed ticket and a ticket led by Stockdale. Unless sense and unity intervenes.3 points

Massive backward step IMO if "Eyebrows" becomes MFC President. As this is a total rebuild I'm not for a step back to the unsuccessful past. New blood required for President. Vote "No" to Stockdale.3 points

After listening to what Jackson said on The Couch the other night, where he revealed that the club had stuffed up the development of all our recent top draft picks, and that we just expected them to help revive the club without investing much into their development, I am not surprised that Watts might wait to see who is appointed coach before signing. If we have failed he and other recent draft picks with their development of course he would like to see if we appoint someone who is going to help get the best out of him and the team. Players like Watts have never been part of a successful winning team. Our club has had a poor culture, got rid of our best leaders too early (Jnr McDonald, Brad Green) and proven to be all show and little substance from the top, with an obscene amount of instability thanks to the continual sacking of coaches. If he had a club like Sydney or Geelong, or even to some extent Carlton, of course he would consider moving. Those clubs could potentially have more to offer any player, from a success standpoint, than ours at the moment. If this club wants success, and we know that the players want it, then the coaching appointment is vital. Totally understand this view from Watts, even if I really wish he'd just sign already.3 points

I too would want to know who I'll be working with before I agreed to go work somewhere. It's fair enough. He wouldn't be alone. I'm sure Frawley and Hogan would sign an extension sooner if Roos signed on.3 points

I disagree 100% If anything Casey helps. At the very least our juniors get to feel what winning is like.3 points

I just dont see how having someone who specialises in being secretive and out of the limelight does a lot for Melbourne. We need an Eddie everywhere type thats on the front foot and in the faces of people whos faces he needs to be in.. Sounds like a brilliant bloke, but not for the MFC presidency. Maybe as consultant to our money people2 points

What Alan seems to focus on is anything BUT winning football matches. I don't care about the trumpeter. I don't care about the shade of red on the jumpers. I don't care about people whinging about the clash jumper. I don't care about "building the brand." I don't care about building the membership base. I don't care whether a player has grown 2 or 4cm over preseason. I don't care whether the stats on the website are up to date as of 12pm yesterday. I don't care about some members feeling the need to "have a say." I ONLY WANT TO WIN GAMES OF FOOTY. Whatever that takes. And I want the board to get the club unified and working in a manner that makes sure that will happen. Like a well oiled machine. All the rest will fall into place in time, once we are winning games of football. Financial stability comes with having a team that gives hope, that supporters can get behind and have faith that the team is going places. Get the right people in place to get the footy right, and the rest is a lot simpler. You've got a long way to go to make me think you're capable of that, Alan Stockdale. At the moment, your MO seems to be anything but.2 points

I think it's known to everyone, us as supporters, the media, and undoubtedly the players, that this is GWS' best chance for a win this year. They kicked us around for 3 quarters at our home earlier this year, and will use that as evidence and motivation. Make no mistake, this is the Giants biggest game for the year. Our team knows it, and how we respond will reveal just how damaged we really are. If we're all honest, our psychological form this year would suggest we will crumble like the crumbliest of things.2 points

You'd rather a young and vibrant 48 year old president who gets along with the AFL as opposed to an old fart 70 year old politician who's just there for an ego boost, I would've thought.2 points
