  1. Thanks for selling him Filth. He is what you lack. Enjoy the Q stick [censored].

  2. Interesting to hear Watts talk about him on the radio after the game. Reckons he really impacts the team and is massively underrated. He said it affects the team on the ground even when he just goes to the bench for 2 mins! Always talking to the players and advising and cajoling and is big influence off the ground as well. Just about everything we wanted in a recruit I think.

  3. I am seriously struggling with the consistent perception that Terlich is a poor user of the ball. The stats don't lie he has been well above league averages all weeks bar one and has been at seriously high levels multiple weeks including 83% this week. The only thing I can think of is that he is a backman that gets 20+ disposals per game, most under heat and he has a couple each week that stick in peoples minds. Maybe he should just stop getting the ball and then people will stop this perception.

  4. Does this mean that we can stop bemoaning the fact that we took Jimmy before Ollie? I hope so.

  5. For all those who are somehow disappointed with this win (as opposed to bloody relieved), remember that just last week the greatest team of all time lost from pretty much the same position. Conclusion = Melbourne is now better than Geelong.

  8. wah wah wah... Watts was BOG Saturday night. Haters gon' hate, but they can also suck it.

  9. He will get heaps better and by the time he is 25 will be in the top 20 players in the game, mark my words.

  10. Gawn was shot in the last and Minson and the dogs mids sensed it. They just ran forward of the ball and it all started from there. Its hard for a team to know how to protect a lead when they never lead. Build on the first three quarters, learn from the last.

  12. Leadership - Tick Kicks goals - Tick Experienced - Tick I never rated the guy at the Pies, but he makes a huge difference to this side! Will be even better when Hogan and (if he ever recovers) Clark come back into the side. Love this guy!

  13. I don't understand why people here get stuck into Terlich so much. His run and attack on the ball is something we have been missing for a long time. Yes he may make mistakes but he is not on his own in this team. I would have thought his 80% disposal efficiency last night might have had people talking of his improvement with game time?

  14. For all the cr&p Rodan has got he has played really well tonight. His big body and positioning was excellent. Hopefully it will continue.

  15. I see Terlich poor disposal was once again not reflected in his 83% disposal efficiency.

  19. Looking at Collingwood today they made a big mistake here, Cloke is their only forward target. Lynch is useless and Dawes was such a good foil, their small forwards could really benefit from his attack on the footy.

  22. Jimmy's tackle on Will Minson was a standout moment for me. He's got great skills and that showed to me that he isn't afraid to go in hard. Minson's quite a bit bigger in both height and weight, and Jimmy brought him down. He'll only get better.

  24. Whats to be happy about? The bloke only kicked 4 goals and saved the game with a courageous pack mark..... Rofl.

  25. Terrible skills and decision making? Seemed to me to be very good last night and got in the right position and provided options well. I've saw him at Casey last year a lot and he has some very good attributes. It always seemed to me he needed to feel comfortable in the seniors before he'd play well and I think he's getting that. I'm not sold but he's on my watch list. What is impressive is the way he's stepped up and continued to improve quickly. It also needs to be remembered he's had (and got) some serious medical history. He'd be a real bonus if he continues to improve and Ben, in the nicest possible way, with your strike rate lately he's got and excellent chance!

  28. Hi Guys, have just blogged some pics on my website from tonights match > http://www.theaussieword.com/2013/06/melbournefc-demons-win-thriller-over.html Great win from the boys tonight - even though I suffered mild hyperthermia. Go Dees!

  29. That was a pretty awesome night. Starting off with a big win in the women's game was good, but to see us finally put the doggies away was sooo sweet. I find it hard to really fault anyone who played tonight. There were a few cases of bad fumbles/overrunning the ball, but not as many as we usually see and we finally started to string together the possession chains that we normally screw up after two kicks. I largely agree with the adulation being directed at Watts. He was very important tonight and played a huge role in the game. My one complaint is the point he kicked. It was the easiest shot he had all night, running into an open goal with no pressure, and he decided to run to the right and kick it sideways. All he needed to do was head directly at the goal and kick it forwards. Stupid play and not the first time he;s done it. Still, that is one relatively small issue in an otherwise really good game.

  30. I knew he'd go back and slot that goal in the last quarter. But what I noticed more about tonight was his leadership. At half time he spoke to the group before walking off and when the dogs were coming back I just saw him speak to the ruckman and the midfield then ran back to the forward line. Im rapt we got him

  31. Dawes was universally bagged by Pie supporters over the last two seasons. They where to thick to accept he had a hand injury that was restricting his output. Look back at the 2010 finals series and you will see what an importand contributor he was to there flag. Reckon he was involved in just about every goal in the GF replay and he was also the bloke at the bottom of the pack that fed the ball to Travis Cloke that tied up the 1st 2010 GF. We have landed a ripper here, can't wait until he carves The Pies up on QB in the coming years. Dawes will help form a very potent forward line from here.

  35. To me, that Jack Watts mark in the backline in the dying seconds kind of validates the time he spent down there over the past few years. To be able to do that as a forward (probably without having been instructed to do so) will be very handy in the coming years.

  36. Mark Neeld sucked the life out if this list. Neil Craig just might get it back. We won tonight thankfully. The belief will come. Mark Neeld what the F did you do for 18 months???????

  38. Gawn being knackered didn't help, probably should've thrown Fitzy in there, although he looked knackered too. But anyway, we [censored] won. We played exciting football, took ripping marks, kicked ripping goals and laid some big tackles. Finally a match worth watching. First time I've been impressed by Watts since he kicked that bullocking goal against Richmond. Presented well, actually jumped into aerial contests, finished well, and that Leo Barry mark was the icing. A year and a half wasted under Neeld. Toumpas' first half was stellar by foot. And that front on tackle on Cordy was a beauty. No Gawny, no Melbourne. Hopefully no more toeJamar. Fitzy is more fun to watch than YouTube. I love Chris Dawes. Not as much as Clark and Hogan, but I love him and his superman jumper. Terlich is a [censored] ripper. Don't many (if any?) damaging turn overs today, great game. Tommy the Mop is back. Yeah he does stupid things, but the solution is spread for him so he can kick it long to you. That'll do. What a great day of footy watching. Oh and I put a bit on a Port Adelaide/ Melbourne double. That should pay for the heart surgery that I need after that last quarter.

  39. For someone who quite literally looks like a baby giraffe, he is remarkably fast and coordinated. His goal kicking too, very very nice. He's played under 10 games. That's some good progress and I hope he keeps his spot for the rest of the year. His ruck work needs improving but around the ground he is already as fruitful as Jamar.

  40. I'd rather Fitz in our side than Pederson or Sellar. More upside for the big fella and he deserves a crack at it. Was impressive in patches today.

  41. Fitzy is edging ahead in the race for a regular spot against Pedersen and Sellar. I actually thought his decision making tonight was pretty sound and his skills had improved notably. His confidence is growing along with the rest of the team.

  42. You know how most weeks Melbourne players turn it over regularly coming out of defence, as if they're intentionally kicking to the other team's players? It was like that, except somehow it was the opposition doing it instead of us. I thought I was dreaming.

  47. Just lost the priority pick. We dominated that game, but for the final quarter. Would've necked myself, and possibly a few others, if we lost that one. I feel numb. But relieved. And maybe even a bit happy.

  48. Not often that we win a game let alone a side that isn't GWS or GCS, so I'm going to keep things positive. Great team effort to 3QT. Disappointing that we still leak goals uncontrollably but there may be light at the end of the tunnel! Remember our best player isn't even allowed to play until 2014 ;-) Positive for mine: Dawes: Didn't rate him at the PIes, thought we paid overs, but he is worth every cent at the minute! Love him! Toumpas: Faded after half time, but his skillset is amazing. Rodan: We effectively traded Cale Morton for him, I can't remember Morton ever impacting a game the way Rodan did tonight! Maybe not a TOTAL disaster getting him to the club. Watts: I bet he is really missing the Nerd!
