pretty incredible. to sum it up: - the club has been all-spin, no action for too long - this rebuild is genuine not spin - we have been a drag on the competition for a long time - we have no leaders in our club - players have a belief that they are 'wasting their careers' at the dees - our players need to understand that pj is pushing to undergo massive change and they need to be part of that - our staff are young and inexperienced (football, admin, both? it wasn't made clear) - if we are unable to interview prospective coaches due to their current engagement at their own clubs, so be it - it doesn't change the basic planning that needs to take place - pj is in regular contact with the afl but they are NOT 'driving the car' - the afl is now the major financier of the club - they will have a say on the board - they are backing pj's plan for the dees pretty full on, i've gotta say. everyone on the aunty panel basically says the dees are in good hands. neeld has already had approaches for 2014 according to parko. parko is still a season ticket holder for the dees, and says neil craig has a clear vision for the remainder of the season.12 points

I live well north of the Brisbane line so watched game via foxtel. Watching footy on the tele is inferior to live but I can faithfully report that Gerard Healy is a certified,100% anti-Melbourne [censored]-head.8 points

"The MFC members voted for the merger". I am sick to death of this statement being made in the media. It is used to denigrate the club and members. The truth is that many MFC members were denied a vote on the issue, many were refused entry to the meeting and the vote, if one can call it that, was carried by proxy votes, kept in a safe, for a time they were needed to stack a vote. The people who provided thoses proxies, had absolutely no idea they would be used in a merger vote. They were obtained from people who were given free memberships and told to sign over proxies. To call that a proper vote, on the most contentious issue in the club's history, is nothing short of a disgrace and an insult to the members of the club at the time. I wish someone would make this perfectly clear to the media and get this stopped once and for all. We should not allow this denigration to continue.7 points

From what GNF and a few others have heard about us landing Roos and extra picks we will be one of the most hated teams in the league by opposition supporters. Thank god for that.7 points

Lots of Garland love again from me. What a game. Back to the wall the entire game, but I'd love to know how many spoils he affected. He took the game on as well. There were good and bad signs from both Watts and Toumpas too.6 points

Don't understand the anti Terlich people on here, the man's been one of our best this season, and I'd be keen to see any stats that suggest he turns the ball over any more then anyother of our defensive 6. As for today I was as happy as you can be with a 35 point loss. Take out the first 4 minutes (3 goals conceeded) and Riewoldts two charity goals from the umpires and you've got a game. Players ran it out and showed a bit of fight after being 40 down mid way through the 2nd term. Under Neeld we may have gone on to loose by 80. And St Kilda although not great aren't as bad as people are making out, they're a pretty capable side. Garland was sensational and Tommy Mac killed Riewoldt. Watts played with aggresion and N. Jones, Rodan & Sylvia battled it out in the middle. Spencer & Clisby both really showed something today also. Best game I've seen from Spencil ever and I think we've found something in Clisby. Also was happy to see Matt Jones show he's got potential to play as a tagger helping slow Jack Steven down after quarter time. Could spell trouble for McKenzie With a bit more composure and less turnovers we would have won today, make no mistake. Add in Clark, Frawley, Viney, Grimes, Evans, Jamar & a fully fit Dawes and we'd of had their measure comfortably.5 points

Continues to defy logic wearing the clash jumper against St.Kilda. It is an even greater clash than if we wore our traditional jumper.5 points
-
Watts was good today. FMD everyone here enjoys giving Watts a beating no matter what he does. Given its his what, third game of the past two years as a forward, and given he was without Clark and for all intents and purposes Dawes, he did bloody well. GET PEDERSON THE F OUT OF THE SIDE. HE IS MAKING ME WANT TO DIE!5 points

He said "we will see?" I'd take that as a good sign... Actually I'm sure a bird poo on my car spelt roos coach of MFC.5 points

The AFL, believe it or not, has our best interests at heart, because a successful MFC is a successful competition. I'm glad somebody with money, power and most importantly a clue, has stepped in to save our sorry arses. I love this club to death and I want to see it thrive. I couldn't give two sh!ts who makes that happen for us.5 points

Was the best brand of footy we have played in goodness knows how long. Our spread was still rubbish as was our execution but the style was there. Garland, Sylvia, Tmac and Watts were excellent. Byrnes and Pederson appalling. Look forward to seeing us build on it next week.4 points
-
Certainly a lot more love for Spencer now than there was before the game. He does some things that make you cringe, but he also gives 100% and has a bit of aggro and speed that we seem to lack. Good game today Spence.4 points

My observations from this game (although clouded withh a little too much red wine. What I Liked: Jimmy Toumpas makes great position and will be a big player for the MFC. Great effort from Tom Mcdonald. He has a fantastic motor. Massive effort from Kent especially in the early part of the game. Excellent second efforts. Another good game from Terlich. makes a few errors here and there but considering his AFL experience, very promising. Garland putting his hand up for captaincy. Liked the effort from Rodan. Love the attitude from Dawes. Other observations: I think new coach will delist Shannon Byrnes.Doesn't bring much. Liked the effort of Nicholson once he came on. Need an investigation into why Trengove is so slow now? Pederson may be petrified. Sometimes pretends he is going hard at the contest but squibbing the physical contact. Watts a 50/50 for me.Sometimes suffers from perceived umpire persecution, but can play.Needs a visit to club psychologist. Aaron Davey-confidence shot.Visit club psychologist. Players still haven't shaken the negative game plan mindset.Wil take a few weeks. Love Sam Bleases attitude! Please play him every week. He moves the ball forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!4 points

from gameday thread Neeld was working on the problem, its just that we all had,,, & most still underestimate, how big our soft culture issue is... Neeld & the club was working on eliminating the biggest problem our club's got.. our ongoing culture.. we had softness before Checker fixed it up, & we lost the firestorm when Barass left & Smithy was axed.... that culture removed Smithy. If we had of had a coach like Neeld instead of Bailey, we would now be a strong club. unfortunately patience was burntout,,, after the latter years of Daniher, & the Bailey Era. Neeld is the one who copped it, for the previous administration's poor works. whether or not you don't like his charisma is beside the point, when someone has to come in to clean the septic out.4 points

It's game day and it certainly feels different. For starters, it's a Saturday although the game is buried in that twilight zone time slot I refer to elsewhere in this week's match preview. Then there's the matter of the new coach (although I'm sure that we've gotten used to the idea of a caretaker coach by now. After all, our last four have all been sacked without seeing out their contracts). It's not as if I have great expectations today, only that, in the words of the great John Kennedy (the coach, I mean), I just want them to "do something"!4 points

Yep, has been clean and the possessions decent. Can't really remember a bad turnover he has done.4 points

Give it a rest mate. How about giving him more than a couple of games to settle in? Comparing him to Morton is ridiculous at this stage.4 points

He also indicated that appointing the two Jacks was a mistake, and that there is no one on our list like Hodge who leads both on and off the field. Also said that the club would no longer leak like a sieve to the media - used the example of no one knowing Neeld was being fired on Monday as the example. Very, very impressive interview.4 points

Pity we didn't empoy him in 2008. CS should be remembered in the same light as Waldren. Disgraced and unemployable in this country.4 points

Jackson is a clever operator - no doubt. I just hope that we, the paying members, are kept honestly and openly informed of what is going on.4 points

I hope Cameron Schwab was listening. The tunein app goes everywhere. Can i have my $7,000 back please CS. out of your pocket. Look what you have done?? I am so angry at all this.4 points

This is the most disturbing part; hopefully they have genuine faith that this time the rebuild will come to fruition and they have not become disillusioned thinking "here we go again".4 points

RP my intent on this is not to go back and have a go at people who held certain views. As you say that is past and buried. My beef is with the lie that keeps being perpetuated and thrown at us, that we in fact voted for the merger and deserve virtually to not exist. There was never a legal, proper vote, held by the members of the MFC. Therefore a rigged result is not proof of what the MFC members did, wanted or decided. To keep repeating it indefinitely, is a disgrace and a stain on the members and the club.4 points

Nothing against Mark Neeld but the effect of his sacking is already evident in the confidence of my younger grandson in the under 8's basketball. He had a breakout game today and scored a basket. Of course, his older brother, in true Demon form, missed through injury. All in all though, I'm getting more and more confident as the morning wears on.4 points

youd think theyd just throw a Premiership in as well for the hell of it !!4 points

Not Rumour, big news. The AFL has, for all intensive purposes, taken over the MFC. The AFL alone will determine who will be Coach, President and CEO (Jackson). In my opinion this is a good thing. The AFL/MFC have had further discussions with Roos and the MFC in conjunction with the AFL will make him a very lucrative offer which will include full power over the football department and priority or mini draft picks. The AFL/MFC are currently working on the offer after feedback from Roos and have informed Roos that the role is his if he wants it. The AFL/MFC are confident enough that they will not look at other coaches until Roos rejects the offer. I understand that the AFL/MFC feel he will likely accept the offer and consider him a better than 50/50 chance. Make no mistake, If we land Roos it will be our Chris Judd moment (aka Carlton). I would argue this would be even bigger than Carlton's moment. Interestingly the AFL have rejected Kennett, Stockdale and Freeman as President. All have had meetings with Demetrio, all have been told they don't have AFL support. Although the AFL can't stop these people standing and winning, the AFL has let the MFC know that getting their choice in President is part of the rescue package and if their choice does not get the role the AFL support can't be guaranteed. It is understood they have their own very high profile President in mind. Still no word on who this is. Again this is all confirmed and not rumour. It comes from the same sources as my previous comments (for those who have been following)4 points

Peter Jackson is amazing.. What a professional. He would have absolutely zero respect for that clown Schwab.3 points

Individually our board members look outstanding. CEOs and self starters with a variety of talent. Somewhere it has fallen down as a collective As others have said the AFL does seem to be on our side this time although I think we can thank our lucky stars that this came to a head towards the beginning of the media agreement rather than towards the end3 points

As an employee that is valued I would love to hear that come from a CEO. As an employee that knows they've been on the gravy train for far too long I would be looking for a new job already on the back of those statements. Great to see someone grab this club by the scruff of the neck at long last and shake the hell out of it.3 points

Was watching fox footy last night and Eddie spaghetti, Barry hall, Jono and Roos were on it. They were discussing how Roos can basically go to AD house for a cup of tea and leave with a bucket load of cash and other things. They all laughed and Roos said "we will see". I'm no body language expert (except of the female variety!!!) but that sounds positive.3 points

Can I commend you both for discussing this topic without it descending into the usual creep on here? Fantastic to see discussion not abuse. It's amazing that people can have different interpretations and opinions, and be able to admit that the other view is valid (even if they don't agree) without name calling. And all this on an internet forum! Well done.3 points

There are no regular elections of the entire Board anyway... Members have every right to organise a call an election - but the AFL is not relocating us here, they are not merging us - they are trying to organise a Board of Demons that is industry standard and attempt to get us a very good FD head and one of Roos, Williams, or Eade as coach. I am comfortable with this scenario.3 points

HT the problem is that bad. We need a large injection of AFL money. Blame Schwab and Don for all this.3 points
