Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Clash Jumper - Bring back the royal blue

Am I the only person who thinks adding white to red and blue causes more confusion than it solves. Is there anyone else who thinks we need a third jumper, either a red one or the old 70s/80s jumper as a clash strip. Would have worked much better yesterday

Must have white as the primary colour. That's the rule.

The white clash jumper makes the clash with St Kilda's normal jumper worse. Really would like a second away/clash jumper. Keep the white one I don't mind it, good for kids to get autographs as well. but add an all red one or the 80's Royal blue for when the white one won't work. Much like the EPL home away and clash kits.

Our best "other" jumpers were based on Red.

Tending towards ; stuff it, just play in our normal jumpets. It worked for years...even in the mud.

Yes Martha , they once got dirty ;)

I've always believed that we should merely reverse the colours. That is have red instead of the navy and navy instead of the red.

In other words red jumper with a navy yoke and white shorts.

That's my two bobs worth!

We've tried predominantly red jumpers before. It didn't work. The AFL believes we clash with Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon (and I suppose St Kilda too), due in part to the red, not the blue. Swapping blue to red doesn't help that.

Change is not going to happen. We're going to have our normal jumper and the white one. The only areas we can meaningfully impact will be the games in which we are required to wear white. I don't understand why we needed to wear white against St Kilda, for example. But the clash strip is going to remain white, the AFL dictates that.

Don't even try to use logic when discussing the clash jumper. There's absolutely no doubt that the 80s royal blue guernsey solves any clash issues but good luck trying to convince anyone at the AFL.

Guys get used to the white jumper.

We are now in so deep with the AFL that whatever chance we had of changing this has sailed away when we begged the AFL to save us.

Raise the subject again in 2020 when we have some strength on and off the field.

Until then suck it up Guys

Spot on

What power do we have to bring about this change?

What about Doggies this year being allowed to have all red as an alernate clash so effectively they have Blue as primary and Red as alternative

Tigers - what is there second option, still black with a bigger sash and yellow trim down the side

Small issue yes but common sense must prevail, there is no side if we wore Royal blue against where it would be an issue, it's not close to Meth Coast and if they want us to change against Carlton because both jumpers are predominatley blue then Red as an alternative, same for the Doggies if they have an issue with our navy blue against their royal blue.

I agree that it absolutely defied logic to wear the clash jumper against St.Kilda, but the royal blue should never, ever return to the MFC. It characterised another shocking period in our history, and highlighted another example of weak administration when we caved in to the league and abandoned our traditional navy for a colour that was 'meant' to look better on colour TV. It didn't. Throughout all the years that we wore that jumper, we didn't play in a single final. Ironically it was the year that we reverted to navy that success returned.

If we need a clash jumper, we need to look at something with a red base, that looks strong. If the Dogs can do it, surely we can too?

As long as we don't ever ever go for the [censored] powder blue that the Cheaters wear...........then contradict by singing that they are the Navy Blues.

By the way. Does anyone know what the reversing of the colours on the Hawthorn and Nth Melb jumpers was all about a few weeks back? (Hawthorn wore it in their match against us.) Just seemed a bit odd, and wondered what the story was there...?

Hawthorn is like the Gold Coast in that they have a home jumper, an away jumper, and a clash jumper.

Hawthorn has its regular jumper (predominantly gold, with brown stripes), but has worn a variant this year, which is the reverse (predominantly brown, with gold stripes). They also have a clash jumper (white). GC is similar (home and away are different, with the away having an extra wave/sash on it; their clash jumper is white).

North has two jumpers - home and away, with home being white with blue stripes, and away being blue with white stripes.

My understanding is that North has these because in some games where they are the away team, their regular jumper is too white (e.g. against Geelong). So they change it so that it's mainly a blue jumper. Collingwood has done this for a few years now, with their away jumper being white with black stripes, instead of the standard black with white stripes. I don't know why Hawthorn has the variant jumper - it's new this year, I think. I think it's just an excuse to have a different design to market and sell, but I don't know.

Thanks, Titan. I was aware of the Collingwood situation, and reckon it works well for them. I was just mystified as to why Hawthorn would use a variant against us. As you say, maybe no reason other than marketing. I suppose there's logic the the Nth one, although I wouldn't have thought it to be all that important.

I think North's is quite important - against Geelong their regular jumper clashes heavily (effectively white on white). The variant removes that clash.

The Hawthorn one is a mystery. I guess it's just like the Gold Coast one - an extra jumper for the sake of it.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
