There's a few other midfield captains that are receiving players.

They don't have to be Michael Voss

a captain who wont put his head over the footy...... um?

cracking game from bruce today in both ways - attack and defence.

he was also pretty good last week on brad johnson until he was moved into the midfield. not sure he had the engine to run out a whole game as yet...

he looks to be getting fitter with each game, after his preseason knee injury.

he is a smart footballer and would expect Cam to have a great 2008.

He played well against a side that was far from their best and was very open across the half-back line, which is where is played a majority of the game. I want to see him be out best player when we lose by 100+ points before I re-asses him as our best player.

Good game by Cam which reinforces that fact without an endurance base he is not as effective.

When fit he has elite endurance, but is not an elite on baller. Like Green, I believe he has not been utilised to get the team maximum. Green's mark in the last 1/4 when forward should be the norm, he is not a midfielder FFS!

With a couple of games under his belt he can do a job while hurting the opposition the other way by getting forward and kicking goals.

Give him Shaggers Grant this week and see if he can repeat the effort.

3 goals playing a defensive role on Steve Johnson is a tremendous effort no matter how you look at it. Backing it up in consecutive weeks is where the truth lies.

At this stage I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt by suggesting he is just running hismelf into form. The great Chris Judd did the same thing on Saturday night.

Bruce should be congradulated for the way he has come back after rnd 1. He was good on B.Johnson last week and was excellent on S.Johnson this week, if he keeps this form up he deserves the captaincy. He should play on Jones this week. Bell on Grant and Bartram on Harvey.

I am sick of people bagging Cameron Bruce on hear. He is our next captain and he has my full support.

I love your enthusiasm but they will rip you to shreds for that. Excellent game by Cam, best on ground for Melb in The Age and Sun.

He will be our captain next year, people are dreaming if they think he won't be. McLean, Jones etc are too young

Cam is a good player.

Cam is not a captain.

He should be running our midfield if he is our next captain, and he is playing off a half back flank.

If he can do that well for us then fantastic, but it will be because he cannot get a kick in the middle.

A flanker shouldn't be a captain.

Give it to the bloke who got the handball out, not the one who received it.

I'm probably one of the few that would get a kick out of someone with a user name of Don Cordner saying "awsum" and "lol". welcome to the text generation Don. :D

Garry Lyon spent a fair bit of time on the half forward flank. Robbie Flower was a wingman. John Worsfold was a reasonable sort of captain from a back pocket. Etc.

Did it ever occur to you that at times Geelong didn't look all that fantastic because we increased defensive pressure and cut off there options as i remember several occasions (3rd qrt?) where geelong had no options and had little run which was fantastic because if you shut down Geelongs midfield then your one big step to winning the game which we where close to doing!! Not saying that every mistake Geelong made was a result of Melbourne's pressure but rather we increased our defensive pressure caused turnovers rebounded and hurt them (Geelong also did this) which is the biggest aspect that any team needs in modern day footy!!

does anyone else think that this topic's name is kinda reminiscent of the video of that crazy weird guy on youtube saying "leave her alone!" about brittany spears?.... not a comment on the author in any sense - i just found it funny

I am a Cam Bruce bagger but i do think his game at Geelong on the Weekend was his best in a couple years...

the bloke may have found his calling down back on a damaging forward.....

However he is still soft and his disposal can often let him down.... He has been stealing money from the club over recent years but lets hope he continues on after this 1 good game and shows something this year.....

He is not alone, but he needs to continue.... For a bloke who is in some peoples opinions one of our best, why hasn't he won a best and fairest!!!!!!

A very interesting observation from a confessed "bagger".

Who is the ONLY player at Melbourne who has finished top ten in the club B&F every year from 2001 to 2007 including two runner ups and not having full seasons. A reasonably fair record I would think.

If that is stealing the club's money what would you describe the other players as doing?

Well spoken 'realist'. I couldn't agree more. Bruce is a class player and gives his all EVERY week. I wish we had more like him.

Ill will be the first to admit that he is not alone.

However let me ask this, Do you think Cameron Bruce is soft? Can his disposal often let him down?

The answers are YES......

Cameron Bruce has had 2 standout games after his Guerra pulled his AC in recent years..... they were a shut down roal on Tarrant on QB a couple years back and last Sunday on a similar role against Steve Johnson.....

Lets not get to excited!!!!

I used to be his number 1 fan years ago, the days when he kicked 7 against Carlton but quite simply the bloke is overpaid.... Again there are plenty of others.....

Even though we must pay 90% of the Cap i think our players worth should only accomadate about 70% of the Salary Cap...

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
