  1. Wow i love that place! makes some fantastic food - i go there all the time!
  2. bails must be trying players out to see if their worth keeping on - chopper didn't play a great game by all reports and was thumped by ackland so this probably isn't a form based initiative.
  3. For anyone complaining about Jamar, i think we really have to look at the facts which are fairly simple. essendon have led the league in clearances over the past month and yet with a midfield without potentially our 3 best midfielders in brock, jones and moloney we still, for some fairly lengthy patches, really dominated there. Now i admit this is not solely to the credit of Jamar and a consideable amount of respect has to be given to dunn for this, but our mids weren't on fire and many clearances were only gained due to jamar's aggresive tackling and and smart tap work. For those of you ruing missed opportunities in the forward line the simple fact that Jamar gave us those opportunities was a cause for optimism - we can't expect him to kick 3 a game and if he gets a couple or even one it's a bonus. the fact that he gave us a marking presence there providing opportunities (realised or unrealised) that otherwise wouldn't have presened themselves was enough for me
  4. saw both injuries as they happened but there doesn't seem to be any news on the extent of the damage, anyone got any information that i might have missed?
  5. i had an impression it was no more than 25% of your list, but this may be more an advised target that a binding rule
  6. a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.” A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence and a mournful optimist. 1657, from Gk. oxymoron, noun use of neut. of oxymoros (adj.) "pointedly foolish," from oxys "sharp" (see acrid) + moros "stupid." Rhetorical figure by which contradictory terms are conjoined so as to give point to the statement or expression; the word itself is an illustration of the thing. Now often used loosely to mean "contradiction in terms." three different dictionary definitions. Conceed the point. i conceed that my comment can be taken as a personal attack and i apologise.
  7. oxymoron means two words that have opposite meanings used in conjunction. bitter sweet, loving hate, dark light. subjective means that you are involved rather then distanced, objective and disinterested. From that basis yes you can have a stupid opinion or, if you prefer a less perjorative term, an unenlightened or ill considered one, like making a comment that someone is one of the worst players in the last 10 years at the start of their career rather than the end in particular a twenty year old KP. Even Isaac Weetra deserves that respect. therefore my comment is not oxymoronic. attack me for my comments worth by all means go ahead, but if you want to attack my language and call me a moron on the basis of that then i think it is you who is the moron.
  8. although that is a subjective opinion that has got to be one of the stupidest things i have ever read. And i visit big footy.
  9. there is no way Hurley would slip to 17 or 18. Dual All Australian full back, won vic metro's MVP for the carnival has fantastic closing speed and last year played forward in a TAC cup game in which he kicked 6 goals. The kid is a gem and if his talent isn't his selling point then his consistancy has got to be. More on topic i'd go for Ziebell if we finish 3rd last and Watts doesn't nominate, Kevin Sheahan rated him a number one draft prospect and after watching him in the carnival and playing school footy i can see why. Won't happen though.
  10. "Melbourne put through 5 unanswered goals in the third term, then 4 to open and close the last to win by 7 points. 17.17 (119) to 15.23 (113)"
  11. wasnt our forward line good grazman because we had such a high efficiency!
  12. was savouring the win and ready all the articles on our homepage when i came across this: Harvey revealed his preparation for the match had taken a turn for the surreal when he received a phone call from an unlikely source. “I knew I was in trouble when I got a phone call from Nathan Carroll on Thursday,” he said. “He rang and left a message on my answering service saying ‘can I renew my membership with Melbourne?’” it gold. pure gold.
  13. im surprised more hasnt been said of Hurley as a possible selection, reading this got my heart racing. Michael Hurley Key Defender 192cm Northern 1/06/1990 88kg Hurley is a proven performer at both ends of the ground and produced impressive numbers in the 2007 season. In 17 games for Northern in the TAC Cup he averaged 18 disposals per game playing in key positions at either end of the ground. When up forward he was always a threat, being a multiple goal kicker five times including a haul of 6. He spent most of his time in defence, however having six or more rebound 50s on seven occasions and averaging four spoils and two marks from opposition kicks per game. He is strong overhead highlighted by his tally of 29 contested marks, of which he took at least one in all games. He dominated at full back for Vic Metro in the 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, totalling four more rebound 50s than any other player can someone who has seen him offer any more wisdom? is he worth pick one?
  14. There are changes, but they are subtle. Have a look, green, jones and miller named as forwards for a start bruce on the ball (interesting since many consider him a "negating" player), and the inclusion of 4 players (whelan, Garland, Buckly Bate) who all have a definate shot at playing this week. while i admit these arn't the massive turnover some envisaged and that positions posted before a match arguably mean nothing, it looks as if bailey is trying to restructure our forward line, which admitedly is a considerable weakness in our team. Make no mistake Bailey is experimenting, and i for one don'y mind it. oh and by the way Yze_Magic regarding your coment about not attending another game; go f*** yourself.
  15. anyone else interested by the fact jones is named on a half forward flank, Miller is at full forward and bruce is on ball? while i know positions don't really count at this stage, why switch it up for no reason? Bailey must have been impressed by Jones ability to kick goals
  16. i was right there when it happened, had a good view of the whole incident, wheels wil be gone without a doubt it was big.
  17. does anyone else think that this topic's name is kinda reminiscent of the video of that crazy weird guy on youtube saying "leave her alone!" about brittany spears?.... not a comment on the author in any sense - i just found it funny
  18. how about just bricks or bricksy for short "Magic" Maric? pretty unoriginal but quite frankly who gives a ****
  19. hahaha its funy becauses mrs robertson would perhaps be a better name for him nowadays.... Robbo was a champion, but over the last three weeks he's shown little to prove his place in the team. I hope this changes, but if not we must have no qualms about giving him the axe to let him get back into form at sandy
  20. MELBOURNE B: Paul Wheatley, Nathan Carroll, Jared Rivers HB: Clint Bartram, Daniel Bell, Lynden Dunn C: Brad Green, Brock McLean, Colin Sylvia HF: Cameron Bruce, Brad Miller, Paul Johnson F: Aaron Davey, David Neitz, Russell Robertson Foll: Jeff White, James McDonald, Nathan Jones I/C (from): Simon Buckley, James Frawley, Austin Wonaeamirri, Cale Morton, Colin Garland, Chris Johnson, Brent Moloney In: C.Johnson, Wonaeamirri, Rivers, Moloney, Frawley Out: Weetra, Bode New: Austin Wonaeamirri (St Mary’s)
  21. hang on davey is named??? he will probs just drop out come game time
  22. so with the extended bench who will get dropped for the actual game? i'd like to see rivers frawley wonaemirri and moloney play so who gets the axe?
