Thought i would start a thread to make an outlandish prediction for the year ahead, good or bad.

Here's mine..

Lynden Dunn will become of the Demons best players by the end of this season and will be handed the captaincy for season 2009.

Rivers and Whelan will play every game

Bruce will actually kick straight this year :P

1) Dees to start the season slowly before coming home like a train winning our round 22 match by 89 points to scrape into the 8 of % over Collingwood.

2) Once in the finals we then proceed to the Prelim with ease before coming up against a red hot Brisbane side, TJ kicks 3 we loose by 8 points.

3) YZE_Magic makes a run at the Demons Presidency after PG does not reapply for the role. On the back of his verbose, slightly off centre all about me campaign he scrapes in by 3 votes and MFC never looks back.

I agree that we'll have a slow start to the season, sadly.

But our second win will come against Carlton in round 5, and will be a corker.

2-3 then doesn't look so bad. And after that a bit of confidence comes in, we'll be getting close to the full list, and start winning games.

Into the eight with about 13 wins, win a home MCG final against an overated Collingwood...

and that's where my predictions end, because tipping well into the finals is just daft!

Dunn to breakout, possibly as CHB!!

After a disappointing year, Neitz, White and Yze will all play their farewell games in round 22.

I suspect a lot of truth in that one. ( though not sure if White's contract runs next year.. but he'd be clever to retire anyway )

Before the NAB debacle I had us at around 7-8... Im not so confident just presently with that..and might think 9-10

Idont see it as a year of being perennial easybeats. I think we'll have some good games and maybe more bad ones.. But they will only really be bad for not gelling properly. I still think we're definitely two KPP short of serious .competitiveness ( FB really concerns me ) .

I see it as a season of moments.. There wil lbe somepurple patches as some players find their 'groove thang " and get rolling.. A few stalwarts wil put in final efforts and out game wil lstart to shape up. There will be a changing of the guard as more and more of the youngens step up displacing some of the 'furniture'

I think the year wil be remmebered as one of "finds" as a few emerge from shadows to lay claim to permanent starting 22 status.

Who knows what injuries may play in the big picture...hopefully not much.

Probably not the year we'd book for our 150th but far from our worst.

go DEES !! :)

even year will strike again and we'll go top eight after a big push in the second half of the year, and will sneak a win in an elimination final. Wheels will play every game and finish top 5 in the Bluey

aaron davey to prove that he is THE best aboriginal player in the AFL, winning the brownlow after a season in the midfield, kicking 30 goals for the year

quite sure that would make him THE best player in the comp fullstop

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
