Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bizzell and Brown announce retirement

I would just like to say well done to both of these players for their achievements and efforts over the years.

In particular, Bizzell whose bandwagon I was well and truly on this year, after I felt that he was unnecessarily maligned by many Melbourne fans.

Good luck Biz and Doggy, for whatever the future holds.

I still remember Brown's first game against Carlton in 98 at OO. We won by 2 points. He had the long, gold hair and reminded me of a young Tingay (kinda). Turned out to be a great service man, though the game past him 2-3 seasons ago. Is good to see him retire rather than be delisted. Good luck on the fire-fighting lines next year, doggy!

I was also at Brown's first and I think Bizz's, I will check that one and will be there for there last. Well done boys you have had fine footy careers.

PS. Think there will be a few more retirements to come.

It'll be especially sad to see Dogga Brown, he's one of those players that you like to see do well, but he's had his moments where you wanna just tear your hair out. But you'd never question his endevour and passion, and it was a nice feeling to see him come second in a B&F because he really deserved it that year (an it was close too!).

For Bizzell, that moment he got his face smashed against the roos a few years back he was never the same. His injury was aparently just as bad as Hird's when he feel on to his teammaters leg V Freo. When he came back in this year, i expected him to stay there because he was filling Rivers's role nicely, but nfortunately for him the youth policy moved him on.

It'll be sad to see you guys leave the club, and i have a feeling that they'd both be welcomed back in a heartbeat. Good luck for this weekend, and i sincerely hope we get a win for you to take with you.

well done to both, always loved the bizz.

Me too, Bizz has been a favourite of mine since his arrival.......

But to both I would say thank you for the loyal years of service to our club, especially Browny, who always put in 100%.

It is sad to see it when players hang it up, but they have done the right thing by the club and probably themselves.

Thanks to both for the years, it is now and always will be greatly appreciated.

And I would wish them well with whatever they have planned for their futures :D !!!

Congratulations to both Bizzell and Brown.

It's particularly sad to say goodbye to Browny, a player who has gotten the most out of his abilities and his body over a long period of time.

If only every player bled for the jumper the way Browny does, and represented the side with as much hardness and determination.

I wish both the best of luck in their future endeavors.

I imagine Pickett, Ward and maybe Holland are next.

Like others previously , I also recall Brown's first agme against Carlton , when he saved the game with a sensational , and foolhardy full length dive and tackle which halted a forward thrust by the Blues with only seconds to go .

He always put the team ahead of his own safety and I would always marvel at his heroics .

Furthermore he has not overstayed his welcome and was probably our most consisitent performer over the last 4-6 weeks .

This is a shock to me...I thought both had at least 1 more good year in them and would of served us well. Sad to see you go boys. Thanks for the memories

C'mon Golly - Embrace the new era

This is NO shock, several more retirements, delisting's & trades to follow

Well done to The Bizz & Doggy on stirling careers.

Watching the Fox Sports News bulletin on this it stated that it was expected that Pickett would follow soon.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
