PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond

Confirmed -

In CJ

Out Petty

I like it. Heath allows Max a break pre Grundy hit out. CJ adds pace and dash and whilst he does turn it over at times, he plays the way King wants to play and as a team we turn it over no more than he does. XTaylor gets another run as does Laurie. Expecting a good win and some good ins for Sydney.

One change off a 5 day break vs Richmond's 5 or 6? This could be ugly....

That Lions game will have taken it out of some of our guys. I'm staggered with the team

One forced change, that’s fair enough to reward the team that beat the reigning Premiers

Do we know what’s wrong with his foot yet?

Wondering if it’s something they should/can sit him to give him that rest or if it wouldn’t help.

If anyone knows it would be @Ghostwriter but my understanding from reading various threads is that he's a week-to-week proposition with his foot.

Remember RaBF Richmond Played on Sunday as well, 1:15 vs 3:15, it’s going to come down to recovery and mental toughness. CJ offers additional pace and who knows we may throw Moose around if needed.😁👍

I think this is good.

For a start, as a general principle, after a win like last week only injuries or availability of stars should force changes. Reward the winning team.

Heath in the team is important. He may not make our Grand Final team (!!!) this year but giving him 25% game time not only gives Max a solid rest to get him thru the season, but gives Moose the experience and know-how of the seniors should the unsaid ever happen. Whether we ever give Gawn a rest I doubt, but I'd rather have an experienced ruck replacement ready in case we want or need to.

I don't think Laurie has ever been given a clear run of consecutive games. He's been the sub and in and out of the team. This was perfect timing for him.

Likewise for XT. His first game was pretty quiet, but particularly as a high draft pick we want to get games into him when we can. Bowey will return soon (playing VFL this week?) and Rivers may soon after, so XT will probably be back at Casey after that. He'll be better for the 2+ games. (maybe he'll surprise ala Bowey in 2021 whose debut was obviously so good immediately he played the rest of the year).

This 'rebuild on the go' is very exciting.

Loading.

Was Kings comment in the presser about bringing in fresh legs a ruse?

Who would young have rested?

Fresh legs ??? What bs

Who plays on Tom Lynch ???

Lindsay was rested or managed ?? So why not back in (especially as Laurie showed very little)

Hmmm. We lost to the Dons who were winless!! Don’t let lightning strike twice 🤬

Looking at the teamsheet, and I mean no disrespect, but I genuinely have never heard of about a third of Richmond's current side.

With that being said, Richmond by 34 points.

This is true. Right up until gameday for the past few week (since the Freo game) it hasn’t been certain that he’ll play. It’s been a pain management issue, which has been steadily improving. But the Lions game saw him back to 100% before, during and post-game. Fingers crossed that’s the end of it.

OK I get the change. Lever can help turner out & I guess we just have to try to stop the tigs mids kicking it to him.

I just saw the coach on the news at the dogs 10 year reunion & handy to, as we're playing the swans next week so he can do some homework to.

I think Lindsay is carrying a mystery injury along with Rivers...

No, because he didn’t specify how many fresh legs would be brought in. And there’s at least two fresh legs coming in this week, both belonging to CJ 😁

Staggered that Adams is an emergency, Two weeks ago he was beaten by not one but two players and had about 8 or 9 kicked on him. Staggering really!

You think it’s something more than his groin?

No excuses there - both teams off a 5 day break (Sunday afternoon). Their game was 2 hours ahead of hours but at Docklands. I seem to remember hearing once that the type of surface there takes more out of the players than the G. Anyone else heard that?

🤦

Tigers had 3 injuries, that’s the only reason they changed 5

Yep its true coz its built on a concrete base!

Ghostly Delight, Just speculating here but the groin injury stated could be a adductor longus, brevis or magnus. Can take some time to heal but if it is worse than that, it could be the start of Osteitis Pubis, which can take a lot longer to heal. Pubic Symphosis is just as bad and I watched him after his injury and he looked very sore and favouring his side, which is classic for the worse case injuries! Hopefully it is not as bad but dont hold ur breath!

CJ

1 change and 5 day break

Tigers have made 5 changes

Where’s XL? Cross is fresh, hopefully comes in late. King did work under the best ‘late change’ coach going around.

Three of Richmond’s changes are forced though, they’d love Taranto, Rioli and Banks to play, if they were fit they wouldn’t change them for run.

I’m more staggered we haven’t gone with someone to play on Lunch but at the same time I love that King backs in what we’re doing and plays to win.

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
