Highly unlikely Luker will play before at least one game at Casey. It’s not like this is a new development… Fritta did his foot vs Freo.

I agree.

What I meant, was I would much rather see Kentfield be picked ahead of Jefferson once available.

Hopefully isn’t 6 weeks but I prefer caution rather than playing through a foot issue.

Hopefully they scan it fully and get him looked over by a good surgeon. We don’t want to see the repeat of the days where we just wrecked players careers with foot injuries.

Silver lining if it is an extended period that’s a huge chance for Jeffo especially (after a VFL hit out or two) to come in and own that role.

In the mean time I’m feeling it’s Heath time.

All of AJ, Kentfield and Jeffo are due to return from injury, just as Fritsch goes out

Fierce competition for that 3rd tall spot

HIS left foot?

A sequel?

Just rest him.

Foot injuries are just recipe for disaster if overworked.

I’m playing Kentfield ahead of Jefferson but imagine both will be in Casey colours this week.

Appreciate people sharing what they know, but can we please try getting our stories straight before posting?

Sam Edmund has already confirmed that there‘s no break following scans, so hopefully it’s only a minor issue

Regardless, rest him this week and get him right

My prayer to the footy gods: play Melky this week and next. He’s on 248 games. His 250th would be vs Essendon, his old mob. We’ll smash ‘em and Melky will be BOG. Coming home from Adelaide would be chef’s kiss.

I like that, it has a nice ring to it.

Is it my just my dee bias or have the dees had waaaay more foot injuries than other clubs?

Maybe I never got over Trengove and Grimes or Petty just before the finals in 23 but already this year its Viney and now Fritta ( for the second time) Is there a foot god we can pray to???...and dont suggest Achilles as A./ he was only ever a demi god and B./ he never got over his injury.

Agree that hopefully it’s only a minor issue, but I think the experts on here will confirm that there are foot issues besides bone breaks, that can still result in longer term rest from competitive sports like footy.

So while it may not be a bone break, it could still be a medium term injury, but hopefully not.

Agree. And I just wanna point out I never said he broke his foot… I said he did his foot. No surprise that I knew about this when it happened but since DogBiteGate… well, you know what they say: Once (Dog) Bitten Twice Shy. 😁

And now ima moonwalk outta this convo lest I’m harpooned twice in as many weeks 👍🏽

Yep, I'll throw some prayers towards that. Love the Melk, he deserves that for his 250th!

(And how sweet v the bombers)

Melk was maligned by our own supporters when he was nearing 200 games. Folks didn’t think he deserved to play, he’s Goody’s favourite etc. It was infuriating. This milestone match, when it happens, will be very different. ❤️💙

Same thing I was telling my mate on Sunday. Carlton is [censored], that's why we had the chance to come back. No way you can do that against Top 4 sides.

Would imagine Melksham gets a run as a more like for like replacement of fritsch as that medium forward, BUT wouldn’t hate seeing Heath come in to have a go

This is what I find really frustrating.

People jump the gun and share their 'inside info' and then have to walk it back when they are caught out. People are reading these insights and being led down a path.

Pays to read posts. Broken bone in his foot. Unsure if it’s the same foot he had troubles with last season. Terrible news either way

Not a broken bone, according to scans

It does pay to read posts

Fritta has had his foot bitten by the same bloody dog!

Can't see either Melk or Heath being selected.

As i noted in the Casey v Box Hill thread, with King's game plan he selects a bunch of what are essentially utilities with no fixed positions as such (except at centre bounces when everyone starts in a fixed position).

After a restart, players like Langford, Culley, Sharp, Chandler, Langdon, Latrelle, Kolt (if not tagging or playing at HB) and Cross (though he did play pretty deep) play roles similar to that of high half forwards across the comp in the previous 2-3 seasons - ie pushing up the ground deep into defence when required, running ahead of the ball on turnover to provide an option and tonnes of box to box running.

So, i think under King the idea of a like for like replacement, except for some very specific roles such as key defenders, key forwards and ruck is no longer relevant. Meaning not focusing on who might come in as 'replacements' for CJ, Fritter and Cross.

Kolt could go forward, play as a utility or play at half back. Culley can play as the medium tall forward if needed.

Laurie would be a good fit because he can play the utility role, and whilst not particularly quick is not slow and has the tank required to cover the ground utilities need to cover under King.

If they are 100% confident Disco is good to go, he'll come in (and i suspect they'll be keen to bring him in to play on King). If Fritter wasn't out, my guess would have been Tmac out for Disco. But Tmac might stay in and play as a key forward and chop out Maxy.

My guess on selection:

Out: CJ, Fritter and Cross (and pos Tmac)

In: AMW, Laurie and Disco (poss Riv instead of Laurie or Tmac if he comes out)

Who is being led astray by info posted on a fan forum

Not confirmed, just saying.

Wasn’t gonna partake in this conversation any longer but changed my mind purely to annoy old mate Bowser Power. 🤣

If Fritta and Turner are both out, what am I to do?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
