GAMEDAY: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda

On 3 occasions they have had 2 players unmarked ahead of the ball.

Latrelle looks dangerous...

If our bunch of kids manage to knock off the Saints somehow I’ll pissing myself.

Media and the club themselves have been preparing to engrave the premiership cup all pre-season. Been laughable hubris from a side that has achieved nothing.

We look alright when we get the ball moving, but contest is a concern. Very much in this game right now though. Some good moments from our kids already.

He has been pretty good though. Not perfect but I am liking his game so far.

Sharp will be out of the side by round 4.

The Duke is playing beautifully. His foot skills have improved a lot since last year.

Checkers would have kicked that against us lol

Imagine thinking Lever is an AFL footballer. All he wants to do is point and avoid contact.

Got scared of his own shadow

Been guarding GRASS for the last 5 years when do they think it's appropriate to man up whenever they don't have the ball. Hoped that disappeared with Goodwins game plan.

Maybe give a Premiership defender more than a quarter to write them off Poita.

Both teams have looked excellent and poor, with little ordinary tight footy in between. The game might settle a bit after half time but I'm unsure who looks better.

Noticed ex storm player Ryan Hoffman on our bench in Melbourne attire. Anyone know what role he has with us?

1st quarter

Dees 21 Saints 28

Windsor

JVR 2 goals

X lever 🤢🤢

X Throlstrup on NAS🤢🤢

X sharp double shot and fumbles

X Goal umpiring 💩💩💩

X Umpires 🤬🤬🤬

Lever is a liability against small, fast opponents

When is a coach going to decide not allow the switch of the ball across the half back line to uncontested players shut it down, man up for god's sake.

Getting killed when Saints take it to the outside.

Goal umpires may as well be replaced by AI

Watching on TV but generally we seem to be a couple of metres off our opponents when the saints surge forward. Like we just don't have the pace to go with them.

Great to see JVR start well. Some nice touches by Latrelle P and Windsor just has so much time and class.

I guess you'd have to take the scoreline considering our start.

2 frees to 6

We are older and more experienced than them I believe? Getting thumped in the contest and are way off defensively. We look scarily like the Goodwin team when he let them be more attacking for a few weeks (when we don'thave the ball). Very limited in our ability to defend and win one on one contests.

Langford needs to get moving, started slow.

Overall even qtr where we missed a couple of shots we should have got.

The big question against a round 0 opponent, can we run it out?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
