Slow start for Tigers. They only got half a game in at Ballarat and probably at a disadvantage as the Blues although thrashed last week in the 2nd half at least got a taste of the real thing.

I think Saints will have the advantage of playing last week.

I guess selectors can only go on what they see in a player throughout his games and training so far. I see a player who is tall, but agile, good decision maker, athletic and very effective disposer. A player who is growing in confidence, playing his role and complementing the game plan! I’m not asking you to tell me what you see because you obviously made up your mind about Howes when he first set foot on the MCG!

Pretty sure the three debut announcements today are just for the three who are confirmed in the starting 18.

Latrelle and Heath could still be picked when the squad is narrowed tomorrow.

FWIW I reckon TMac, Heath and Sharp miss from the extended bench, so I reckon we get a Latrelle debut announcement tomorrow.

As my mate said about Toumpas - no point if difference. Not tall, not quick, not skillful (a la Sam Mitchell), not tough (a la Viney), doesn't kick goals. Very good VFL player - and we've had our fair share of them.

Not really anything to criticise in that squad selection. It will be interesting to see who makes the final interchange. I think it could be Rivers, Culley, Pickett,Melksham and one of either Tmac and Heath.

Looking forward to the first of the season.
