Sharp, Chandler, Pickett x2 gives us speed and running ability.

Also unpredictability. None of those players are going to be standing around.

If I were Tom Mc Donald I would be very Peezzed of. The wildcard was always gonna be Moose Heath but ....

Genuinely surprised they went for Howes over T.Mac. Tholstrup is overated and doesn't do enough but does more than Chandler! Other than that not a bad side which will become better once Jeffo returns!

Great for Sharp to get an early look in.

I think he is our best crumber of the ball, from off the pack (reads it well), and will work hard to get front and centre.

McDonald is competing with Lever, Petty and Turner, he's not competing with Howes.

Sam McClure says the club is expecting 50,000 on Sunday.

He also mentions that we’ll be coming out of a different race before the game. We should also be expecting an NBA style atmosphere.

Guerra is livid with our pathetic membership numbers and is promising a totally different game day experience to attract membership.

We shouldn't be too concerned with wins and losses because we'll be rebuilding for five years

Interesting that one of the first things King did to assess the list was to ask for GPS data to identity the runners and is now picking Sharp along with no talls on the bench. King Ball.

Pleased with the selections - have decided to go with younger players which is understandable. Should be good to watch.

Yep. No way you can have all three in the same side - partly because we'd be too tall down back but more significantly we'd aldo be too slow down back, which was a huge issue for us last season.

I cant see Turner coming out of our side, so i reckon in reality Tmac's competing with Petty and Lever.

I expected Howes to be selected. He's flexible in that he can play medium and tall. Makes good decsions, is a neat kick and has good wheels. If he maintains his preseason form he is a best 23 lock.

And i'm not surpised Tmac is out - unfortunately he's not quick enough.

And above all he is an aerobic beast with good wheels. Slow coaches need not apply under King methinks

Based on the little footy I have watched so far, the games anre all about rapid ball movement and players who can run and run and keep running! So early on at least the “speed/endurance athletes” are going to get a run, Sharp and Tholstrup come to mind.

Totally fraught with danger, would have picked MOOSE definately, watch this explode like a Thunderbird episode involving a fire over the Hudson Tower! Like Sharp but Toltoys and Chandler lucky to be in the side IMV

No offence PF but I think you might be the only Dees supporter who thinks Chandler isn’t a best 22 lock every week

Happy to be proved wrong, but feel he is overated!

Overrated???? He is a role player, I don’t see people claiming he is a star

Whilst it’s clearly a sign from the selectors, we just have to be careful IMO to not pick athletes for the sake of athleticism.

Sharp, to date, has been in that category at AFL level. Obviously a new year/system so we’ll see what it looks like in 2026 but aerobic capacity can’t override the ability to find the ball and use it.

Don't disagree, but he seems to have upped things a notch under the new regime. A game style which suits his strengths?

He has quite good goal sense. Maybe a more offensive role in mind by King for him

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
