Hopefully they are building a bridge over troubled waters

I'd rather be a Sparrow than a snail.

So any actual detail on training times at Gosch’s this week? Nothing on the official web site that I can see. Is it just me or does the Club treat their fans somewhat differently than the President Steven Smith’s message to fans today emphasising how important we are to the club?

Just saw on instagram that at every home game we will be playing songs(picked by players) after a goal. I don’t mind it. Gets the kids up and about. After a few bevs I’ll be up and about too! Haha

If anyone has chosen ‘Country Roads’ (or whatever its proper title is), I will personally get off my deathbed, use whatever means available to me, to drag myself down to Melbourne, and stick the USB, SSD or whatever media they are using, as far up the person responsible’s aaaass….sk your mother for sixpence, as possible.

And that goes equally for anyone using ‘Bohemian Rhapsody!!

I’m really unsure of how I feel about our chances in this game. The ‘Aints didn’t look too inspiring on Sunday, but Nasiah (“no, he’s just a naughty boy!”) looked very very good; dangerously good!!

I have this nagging feeling in the back of my mind, that is telling me that we are going in with a lot of players who don’t have a wealth of experience, and we are going in with a new coach and new game plan, and we are yet to see just how well they have adapted and are able to consistently carry it out… yes we saw glimpses in the pre season praccy matches, but let’s see how they go when real shots are fired.

The other thing that hit me, was that I barely recognise the game of AFL anymore! The speed of the game and the ability of players to close opponents down in the blink of an eye, the ball rebounding like a giant game of pinball, leading to a lot of ground-ball handling errors and so many poorly judged passes by foot… I just hope we are able to compete well in this kind of environment.

This however does give players like Windsor, Langford, Lindsay, Culley, Howes etc a real chance to shine (from what I’ve seen, they all seem to be taking to the new game plan, quite comfortably)…I don’t know, maybe it’s just my Inner MFCSS speaking, but I won’t be able to relax until around 6pm on Sunday.

I don’t think he looked that good tbh. Not to the standard we all know he could get too. Hopefully that poor performance continues into Sundays game.

Thanks I have saved it. Cropped a little, and use it as the wall paper on my phone but i loose the 4 players on the right. Most important young men.

But it looks great so thanks

I saved the screen shot and got rid of the bottom words etc

I agree. Was waiting for his 'stamping' on the game.... never came.

Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite.

Much is made of Naz but I'd put Kozzie a few steps ahead of him. Trelly is the new wonder boy on the block.

My thinking about our game style now is the playing against us will be like WackerMole. Shut us down here, we'll go there, and so on.

Kingy in his Gazza interview said exactly that,, well not the wackermole ref but that we aren't a one string to the bow team now.

Will the new empowering of the players pay off. We're about to see.

Last year Bill Laurie said he hopes one day we do players’ songs after goals. He said he’d be “ironic” and pick something “…funny, like classical music” (not knowing he was talking to a big fan of classical music). I suggested he choose the third movement of Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 35 by Frédéric Chopin. He asked if it’s “funny” and I said Yeah it’s hilarious. What I didn’t tell him is its title is Marche funèbre, commonly known as the Death March. 😁

How great to hear Ling this morning say that Culley and Fritta are good to go for the weekend — saying Culley could e even played vs Richmond.. brilliant!!!

really excited for our brand and to see our best 22 have a good crack at saints whom embarrassed us badly LY.. really confident & looking at the 22 it’s gonna be tough to further all in with Checkers, Culley, Fritta fit — means Moose def misses for mine and Culley takes back up ruck.

Langdon spent time on Nas in Alice Springs and got flogged.

Absolutely murdered. Also, when asked what happened in the last quarter against St Kilda in that game, Goodwin explicitly said they sent Langdon to Wanganeen-Milera. Again. Same result.

The biggest hope I have from this game is not necessarily a win - I'd love one, but it's just too hard to know how these teams stack up against each other - but the beginnings of a complete shift away from the Goodwin era.

His gameplan and system were magnificent in 2021. By 2025 they were anything but.

I think this is the team we go with now that Culley is good to go.

B: McDonald, Turner, Petty

HB: Salem, Lever, Lindsay

C: Langford, Steele, Langdon

HF: Sparrow, Van Rooyen, Fritsch

F: K Pickett, Mihocek, Chandler

R: Gawn, Windsor, Rivers

I: Jiath, L Pickett, Tholstrup, Culley, Howes

I dunno. Having an inexperienced ruckman (Culley), who's missed a season with an ACL, jumping head first into an opponent, is fraught with danger IMO.

That type of contact is far different from flying for a pack mark.

Culley a shoo-in. As will be Sharp as we need his run

Keen to have Cully in the R1 team, he was in fine form prior to break.

Mihocek and Friita clear to play means we’ve no excuses and should be solid up forward.

Starting to get excited for Sunday.

Culley did his ACL 3 years ago..

Gawn has done two ACL's over his career and hasnt stopped him from being one of the all time greats.

He'll be fine.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
