‘King-ball’

TM: Axis of Bob (2025)

In all honesty, I think the style will be quite different to what we’re used to and ‘King-ball’ feels like a good way to describe it. Like Bazball but less insufferable.

Hawks supporting mate reckons he is a jet, that just has not had much continuity due to injuries....says his kicking is not that bad, does run himself into trouble occasionally.

With injury free pre season reckons will be a real asset to us.

I hope he is right....Welcome CJ

do we know the deal yet?

I know some on here will be annoyed unless it is pick 90 but what do we think realistically?

Keep in mind he played 3 more finals than any Demons player this year (*mostly as sub)

mid-late 2nd rounder?

Just give us the flag now.

Apparently loved by his team mates but turnovers are an issue.

From watching some vision, I don't think people are talking about his defensive actions enough. He's not just a one trick pony using his speed to break lines. He actually looks quite well rounded as a defender (besides his kicking).

Loves an intercept mark, reads the ball well, lays big tackles, spoils hard.

Pick 42 is apparently going to get the deal done.

Wise move, Bob. Reckon I'll join you:

A new style to savour, however monikered! 😊

That's been my enduring impression from the games I've seen him in. One of those players who appear suddenly and squanch an opponent, ending what looked like a clear attacking run.

If I were his coach I'd have him playing a fair distance away from defensive goals, ready to disrupt any running approaches towards/across the 50m line. He's also okay at closing fast and getting up for a spoil, though you wouldn't want him matched up on a genuine tall forward. Being a bit further out also means more space to run and less risk from the impulsive kicking.

So, not quite as a defender but kind of like a defender's best friend.

Very quick and athletic. Needs to tidy up his kicking and cut down on turnovers. Could be a decent pickup. Thumbs up from me 👍

Happy with that.

That effectively turns Charlie Spargo into CJ.

Agree. Fair deal. Not a bargain but a fair price and return for both Dees & Hawks.

It’s our “Spargo” compensation which likely would have fallen to pick 50 by draft night and unlikely to be used.

CJ adds to our team with athleticism , versatility, pace and chase down, and will be a huge inclusion if we can fix or at least minimize his turnovers.

Good business Dees. I dare say the Lamb haters won’t say much

It’s okay, not unhappy with it.

I’m not sure I’ll say the same about Trac and Oliver, even though we are essentially making it impossible to get anything good with the way they say “you can look elsewhere”

Good deal. CJ can have an impact.

We need another pick around that mark to get Kalani White as father son though, so keep an eye on other upcoming trades where we pinch a late pick.

Sort of polar opposites in terms of strengths.

We are getting 2 top 10 picks for a 30 yr old, it’s great business

Big day for the MFC coterie, CJ will be the first South Sudo bloke they’ve ever met 😂

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
