van Rooyen has has a terrible season but heโ€™s played two reasonable games in a row where heโ€™s been attacking the ball in the air and grabbing a few. We are relying on him for the future. Dropping him when heโ€™s finally starting to get going would make the entire season a waste.

Adamโ€™s would be pretty stiff to be dropped after a reasonable debut.

K Brown for Windsor?

Mentioned maybe but for whom?

I thought Adams was ok but he did have 5 kicked on him, so hardly proved that he is guaranteed his spot this week.

Calling for this 6 weeks ago but better late than never.

This has all the hallmarks of people calling for Fullerton to play.

Adams was filling in. He showed enough to say that heโ€™s worth persisting with for development, but thereโ€™s no way he plays with May available. Itโ€™s not harsh, itโ€™s just how it is at the top level.

Agreed. He's had a taste...which should inspire him in the off season. Id give kentfield the same kind of taste in one of these last 2 games as well.

Dont ever make Howes the sub.

I might be in the minority but I rate Howes pretty highly and I think over the last few weeks he's taken some really big steps forward.

Him being the sub was genuinely an odd decision. Make Sparrow the sub if we have too.

Out:

๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿป Kozzy's horrid field kicking and lackadaisical high school level intensity.

๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿป Lack of forwards making multiple leads (with decent timing) into space as players break from center / wing contests forward and almost always won't see anyone leading into clear open space on the fat side / in front or 45 angles for easier shots at goal. Instead seeing players sitting back inside 30 and/or pointing leading to the right hand pocket and then having the ball kicked there to see it either go OOB or, on the odd occasion, hitting a player on the boundary and have him try to kick the lowest percentage shot at goal.

This is my view. Adams was just ok. Got his taste but not good enough to keep May out.

Agreed I am not sure if we made him sub with the plan of taking Adams off, but it made no sense as height wise they are not like for like.

Sparrow is actually a good sub option as he can play multiple roles, half forward, wing and inside mid. Even half back at a pinch.

He is a low impact player, but will be happy to fill any sort of role.

In: Lindsay, May

Out: Windsor (inj.), Adams

McVee May Tmcd

Howes Turner Bowey

Langdon Rivers Langford

Trac Petty Fritsch

Melksham JVR Pickett

Gawn Trac Oliver

Lindsay Culley Viney Chandler

Sub Sparrow

JVR out???? No chance

Do we need Casey to win next week for them to play finals, (they are 8th) and is there any player that needs one more game to play in the finals? Do we make AFL team calls with this in mind too?

I could see why Howes was the sub. It provided backup in case Adams completely failed (which he didn't) and allowed the option of moving one of the running defenders (ie, Rivers, Salem, McVee or Bowey) to midfield when he (Howes) came on.

No. Casey serves purely as the 'feeder' team for our AFL club. It's simply a matter of what's best for the MFC. What's best for Casey runs a distant second.

Some fun positional changes could be

Lindsay in > half back. Rivers takes Windsor's centre bounce minutes.

Lindsay in > Midfield. Howes moves to the wing. Langford forward. Adams and May play together.

Lindsay in > wing. Harvey takes Windsors centre bounces minutes. Culley stays on the opposite wing.

I like Lindsay at HB as he has neat skills, leg speed and a superior marking game to Windsor.

I get this but may I ask one thing. If part of growing our culture is about developing a winning mindset can in not but aid us holistically to allow players the journey of a winning team and experiencing such ??

Whilst our last two games are not inconsequential in terms of the overall competition we aren't going long this year.

I'd like to see Luker get a gig or two but maybe he's as valuable to us next year ? Im not sure atm who he would replace.

If we move into next season the place will be a tad different. New Coach(s) , some new players ( some less ) ,another preseason and things tend to start sorting themselves out as to who's who in the paddock.

Lindsay in the guts instead of Windsor?

No hasn't the leg speed. Great football brain though. In my opinion he will be better than Langford!

He certainly does have the leg speed

Does everyone in the guts need absolute leg speed ?

Good mid oufits have/need good footy IQ.

You can be super quick... and super wasteful.

Just an obs

Someone does apart from Kossie who spends half his time in the forward line.

I thought Adams laboured well all day and whilst beaten showed promise, so he will be stiff to miss out. Maybe May to FF and JVR to CHF. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fullerton is not AFL standard.

While Big Kent is unproven his game is developing well and looks to be the player we've been searching for and has an added touch of mongrel to go with it.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
