Without wanting to sound too much like a wet blanket but its hard to read a lot into the performance given the weakness of the opposition.

Our key forwards in particular weren't facing strong opposition and often had massive size and weight differentials in our favour.

That was cathartic, keen to see Casey push for finals. This team can go all the way.

One of the things I like in a player first is their thirst for the contest when it's their turn to go, but I have seen some signs in Jefferson that with the right coaching and game plan he might just make it. I know he made some mistakes last night, but there is a glimpse of light. I was also impressed with Fritta as he was prepared to make contact and run during the night. If he keeps playing like that for the last five games, he's a keeper.

Looks like a ‘shiny’ new man after his surgery. On that performance automatically improves the forward line.

With May likely to get half a season off (David King's calling for 6 weeks now - compare that to Xerri's stiff arm across Sparrow's jaw for 3) for fairly competing for the ball last night, you would think Petty might be coming in as his replacement yeah?

But he played forward all game again, is that right?

That might be so, but we won by 100. That doesn’t just happen because the opponent sucks - see, eg, us losing to Carlton or GWS “only” beating Essendon by 48.

Faced with a rubbish opponent, and with spots in the seniors surely (…surely…) up for grabs, today’s performance is precisely what we needed to see.

David King calling for 6 weeks that's a bit rich. Considering Archer and Pickett were taking no prisoners on a weekly basis.

Harrison Petty didn't put a foot wrong. He is the midas man can swing back. If forward line impact is a prerequisite, Aiden Johnson would have to be considered. That game would have to be his new highlights reel in one. Showed a lot more than in any previous game this year. Sticky fingers like Spiderman.

Personally I see Kentfield as THE solution to our forward woes.

He’s big, strong, agile, not afraid of body contact, can crash packs , and can kick accurately, unlike the work experience kids who are currently being gifted games.

Is there a reason Ricky Mentha can't be a sub and maybe give Kolt a rest?

David used to give his occasional wack behind play as well

I was just reading the VFL Match day site with the player stats and reading the DLand Casey thread at the same time made for a very enjoyable couple of hrs, apart from a few lulls in the game. I’ve been waiting for Casey to really hit their straps and today was that day. Exact opposite to last night.

Agree but the way they built the lead each quarter with strong connecting play is encouraging.

Bonner is the one who interests me. He's a ball magnet in an era that demands quick connection. I'm surprised he wasn't given a chance by an AFL team in the mid season draft.

For the remainder of the AFL season I'd be happy for Mentha to have a run in place of Sharp.

Perhaps Jefferson is playing for his spot next week if Kentfield and AJ keep it up

I actually agree re Jefferson. I thought he was terrible early but he didn't drop his head and often got to the right spots, competed relatively hard and is clearly as nervous as a kid on his first day at a new school. Maybe a new coaching staff would help.
