Petty was poor last week but Jeffo was far worse last time he played.

4 touches. clangers

Jeffo needs to earn it for a couple more more weeks at casey.

Petty has been ok at times. contested marks. 11 goals and frustrating defenders. No way Jeffo can play that role yet

He did break his hand early in the first quarter.

Not pining, just want some common sense to prevail, but common sense selection based on FORM and the coach /footy dept dont match! WHILE im at it Brown Dog and Woey are in the same boat. We simply MUST reward guys that are playing well consistently in the magoos, but we dont

Any chance of Will Verrall? GC are quite tall after all

Agree with Lever out, he’s not fit & has had a terribly injury interrupted season, Tmac should never have been dropped

If the coach has even the slightest bit of selection integrity Petty should be dropped!

Finally Laurie needs some extended time in the seniors & not as sub, he deserves a chance, he has been treated very poorly

great call with lever out, its not like everyone has been saying that for weeks. put him on ice for the rest of the year

your Icon/Avatar is somewhat at odds with your message here.

Wow - both big calls and ones that I back 100%

I love Lever but he was brought back in way too quickly and has clearly been hampered by his injuries - McDonald should never have been dropped to make way for him

Windsor has also struggled this year due to injuries (and being played out of position in my opinion) - reckon getting him playing on the wing at VFL could do his confidence a world of good

Julian DeStoop on SEN said JVR was also dropped (along with Windsor and Lever). Anyone else heard that?

Haven’t heard it but @Ghostwriter confirmed that they were essentially told this at training today (thanks for the scoop 👻)

Wow, that's a big call on Lever and Windsor, especially given Rivers was the most likely out after being subbed out against Port.

Sounds like Rivers will be sent back to defence in place of Windsor.

I assume T.Mac is back in for Lever and Jeffo in for JVR with Tholstrup in as likely sub - Lindsay back starting.

I especially liked hearing that Goody intimated that Viney may play forward - been calling for that for some time as he actually is a very accurate shot at goal - he just can't hit up targets with ease.

Goody showing the guts to make tough calls where it matters.

Key defenders with 0 mobility, who can't get close to a ground ball are a massive liability.

Fast, agile, athletic defenders are where it's at.

Excellent call by Goodwin and Co.

Finally some selection integrity.

Dropping an inform T Mac after the club's best win since the 2021 grand final for an injury riddled veteran off a singular VFL return game was anything but integrity.

Way too late for selection integrity.

Its been a major issue for several years.

Dropping Fritsch 12 months too late cost us big time

Lever wasn't right when he came back.

Windsor has 2nd year blues & JVR is going through a bad run. However it could have given him an opportunity to play on a Rowell or Anderson or even touk just to give him an insight on some great players

But fritsch still holds his spot. Mind youu his defensive pressure is a little bit better.

FWIW worth Petty was slotting them from everywhere at training today. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't play forward

Windsor gets played out of position all year and then dropped. If I was him I’d tell Goodwin either play me in the right positions or fukken trade me.

Agree. Windsor was incredible in his first year, they move him elsewhere and his performance suffers. Coaching issue imo.

There's not even anyone exciting to replace him either. What are we going to see, Billings? Laurie? Henderson? zzz, none of them are the future.

He did the same with Fritsch, played him half back and all he did was ruin a whole season. It’s moronic.

He'll drop Windsor for the prelim this year, just you wait cool

While I agree that Windsor has been played out of position, I think his disposal has fallen off over the last month and it looks like he's struggling to run out games (hence the sub selection a couple of weeks ago).

I think a few weeks at Casey will be good for him.

Lever on the other hand should never have been recalled over TMac. Hopefully the latter gets his chance back on the seniors this weekend.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
