McVee and Gawn escaped with no sanction from the Match Review Panel

Unusual to be on the right side of the MRO or tribunal.

Thought McVee was gone for all money.

i thought reid would have gotten done for a week too, they are obviously all on paid holidays to Europe or some bs

How can you win when the opposition have 3 or 4 players getting around 30 touches each week when only Oliver looks like getting around that on a regular basis. All our midfield can get that many, but only once or twice a year. Most of them struggle to get 20. What happened to the string of handballs and run instead of dumping it long.

I feel like you can’t have Fritsch Johnson Jefferson and van Rooyen in the same forward line

Petty must be in the last chance corral, or close to it. No idea who replaces him if he goes out, feels like it's just shuffling the deck chairs.

A forward line of Jeffo, El Jeffo and El Jeffo Cantina would surely get the job done!

Time to gel the backline for future years - disco, petty, adams, lever as talls. If May has another year use him forward instead of flicking disco and petty all over the place.

Might as well play Jeffo, JvR up forward for the rest of the year to see what we’ve got. Maybe even Kentfield.

No real point in playing TMac or Melky now if retirement is on the horizon.

Umm

Hows this for a wild idea.

Why not try Petty in the backline where he was a premiership defender?????

Why not have Langdon on a wing where he can use his endurance, run and carry out of the back half and into the forward line?????????

And may try the young bloke Windsor on the other wing where he almost won the rising star last year??????

I wonder if any of these would work???????

How about a week of Goal kicking and a new plan for forward entries.....

Ban the Bomb

It's because we suck again, so they are not after us. 🫠

Looking forward to seeing Petty, JVR and Disco kicking 10 between them again at Gold Coast.

Bring back T Mac to stiffen up our defence. If the club was giving him a mid season rest to recharge his batteries, then that's totally understandable. However he'll be needed next week.

Swap May and Petty.
bring in sport psych to deal with kicking.

Be thankful I haven't spent money on flights/accommodations/beers for the next few weekends.

Haha I saw that! Gave me a good laugh

Wonder who Clam is on here!

I want to see the following side for the Gold Coast game (assuming fitness).

Ins: Jefferson, Sestan & Tholstrup

Outs: Melksham, Salem & Sparrow

B: Bowey May McVee

HB: Howes Turner Lever

C: Windsor Oliver Lindsay

HF: Chandler Petty Petracca

F: Pickett Jefferson Fritsch

R: Gawn Langford Rivers

Int: van Rooyen Langdon Sestan Tholstrup

Sub: Viney

I know this won't happen, but I want to see Goodwin get some gonads and make some tough decision.

I also wouldn't be opposed to Adams playing ahead of Lever and May at some point.

If Viney does play a full game, GET HIM OUT OF THE MIDFIELD!! Play Trent as the primary mid and maybe give Viney 20% of CBAs max.

To be fair, Demonland is full of criticisms of Goodwin for not trying different things. It would appear he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.

We have one, alongside Ben Crowe who also covers this area.

Both presumably working overtime at the moment.

More he flip flops if it doesn't work straight away. You need to stick to a plan. Not just rotate players in and out continually.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
