It's the same issues that we have had since 2022, our forwards do not lead so we bomb it in. We then fail to bring the ball to ground or are out marked in a two on one.

Our players need to display some composure

we handle the ball like its a hot potato and blaze away rather than assess and take better options

the boys emptied the tank today. cannot fault the effort. but we are our own worst enemies

I'm really proud of this team today. Premiership players stood up, Max was incredible, Clarry and May brilliant. We just lacked that cutting edge.

It sucks because near enough is not good enough right now, we had to win. But credit where it's due that was effort for 4 quarters.

That soft 50 cost us the game. Hope the AFL is happy with that disgraceful display by those umpires.

Oh, they are. You know it.

Commentators drooling over pies all day.

Dunstall is not my favourite commentator but he was fair and balanced all day

Blaming the umpires is easy but lazy

We are hopeless with composure and kicking for goal

Fritsch not spotting the free player in the goal square

Petracca and Oliver losing their minds with 2 mins left on the entry - turnover

Hopeless

I’m sacking everyone involved with our goal kicking ailments

100%

I ain't even mad.

I'm gutted because we COULD have won it.

But I am really proud of the group, and their effort.

Some skills errors and brain fades, but we can work on those and build for 2026.

Just gotta keep Maxy fresh for one more solid tilt at it.

Free kicks 15 to 24

But how many of the dinky Pies kicks less than 15 mt were called?????

NONE!!!!!

UMPIRES.......F$%$##@ing BS!!!

We really should have won that, the better side lost today.umpiring was atrocious. It simply has to be fixed. It’s so amateurish to have umpiring ruining great games.

Did anyone catch what happened with Max right after the siren?

It looked like some players were trying to calm him down…

Some naivety and lack of finesse when it counted, the endeavour from the Dees was great though and they should have won. Make no mistake, the umpires steered this win, its nauseating 🤮

I hope May gets dropped. Going Gawn after the siren for his missed kick. That’s not the love Melbourne plays with. Bring back TMac.

Max knows he f’ed that up and he knows May knows no other way than to say how it is, at the tone in which he’s feeling it. They’re big boys. They’ll be fine.

May was outstanding today by the way.

The club remains silent on it though though so it mustn’t be an issue?

Stephen May is not the villain, providing direct feedback - even to the captain, is why we have had one of the best defences.

I know Maxy was frustrated but I think he’ll wish he had that moment back.

And the deciding factor…….the umpiring. It’s a blight on this great game, and the voices that matter aren’t allowed to talk about it.

Sorry disagree. Its the composure of Pendlebury and Sidebottom V Clarry and others in the heat. And poor decisions and kicking. Should be proud of the effort. May was lucky Max didnt floor him. He is the GOAT. Dont blame him.

Own worst enemy & either players are thickhead or Goodwin just can’t get them to stop bombing it long, ignoring free players over & over honestly it’s just stupidity! Decision making by senior players, Petty going for glory on the boundary, Fritsch playing on. The umpiring was total BS

The effort was outstanding, but we're just not a good enough football team to overcome the breathtakingly bad skill and decision making errors that we throw in every time we get some positive momentum. It felt as though almost every Collingwood goal was the result of a Melbourne turnover.

Geez we play some DUMB DUMB DUMB footy sometimes and it’s cost us another W.

So FRUSTRATING (and we don’t [censored] learn from it).

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
