April 15Apr 15 Just now, whatwhat say what said:why do we assume that goodwin wasn't reaching out to the petracca and has, prior to the last month or so, been rebuffed?he's not petracca's family - he's his coachthe stories around the petracca family's approach to their son's career are plentiful and they sound like they require a lot of special care and attentionI have it on good authority that Petracca’s parents rating as “Difficult” is an understatement
April 15Apr 15 Relating to Tracs injuryi've been seeing a sports physician recently. He happens to be a pies supporter but has worked with AFL teams previously. We got talking about the trac injury. He said there was no way the dees medics on the day could have known of the severity of the injury. He also laughed at the notion the pies players could have known. He said they would have had no idea.It was a terrible freak injury Trac sustained. Perhaps our comms with trac and his parents could have been better but my bet any investigation will exonerate our medics.

I reckon my parents would be exactly the same and would demand I retire from footy immediately. I’m from a European background and have always found it interesting to witness the differences between European and Australian family dynamics growing up.
April 15Apr 15 It isn't really about contracts but I found myself intrigued by the way Oliver's 'headline' stats are barely a slice off his epic 2021, and yet the perception - which I agree with - has been that his impact has been a long way short of that level. So, I did some stats digging. Here's the rub, compared to 2021;His total possessions are only down two a game, and those two missing are contested. Curiously, his tackle count and clearances numbers are basically the same. His disposal efficiency is also basically unchanged and there's actually been a meaningful drop in his turnover count. But the impact is gone.Metres gained has dropped from 420 to 290, Inside 50s down from 5.2 to 3.0 and score involvements are down from 7.2 to 5.4, and he hasn't had a goal assist yet this season.Meanwhile the once uniquely useful part of his game, the intercept possessions, is just gone. Was 4.3, is now 1.8. Interestingly, even the umpires are seeing him differently, with both frees for AND against now half what they were in 2021.Fantasy Football nerds will understand the meaning of his 'Fantasy' score being relatively stable while his 'Supercoach' score has dropped by 25%. Supercoach cares about the impact rather than just accrual. His time on ground has also dropped from what was a very, very high number for midfielders of 88%, to a more regular 80%. Not such a major drop but notable that he's out there less while also, apparently, getting around less when out there.

A horrific incident and I don't begrudge his family for initially feeling some ill feelings towards the club. When it's your kids all sorts of feelings can swell up, I'm actually glad the club saw their way to breaking bread.
April 15Apr 15 The issue across arose from the fact that while Tracc was receiving a life saving blood transfusion and genuinely fearing for his life, the club out a statement suggesting he will be back in 6-8 weeks while making no contact to check on his condition.Gawn is done for mine - last season. I think when Tracc replaced his manager for one more experienced in brand marketing it suggested that he has given up on a trade. The Clarie situation has always been more complicated than is public but is there tradd value now anyway?I just wish we could some how create a package or something to attract Butters. Serong another perfect fit between the two main age demographics.

Coach, players and coaching staff are taking the [censored].All I know is the last part is seemingly accurate and a reason we lost a few with no like-for-like replacements.

IF AND ONLY IF HE WAS OK WITH IT, what would you trade him to the cats or a pies in 2026 if we were bottom 3 again. 2nd rounder? That would ,killthis club, we are weak at best, remember shafting McDonald after he was our heart and sole.?The young blokes need people like Max.

April 15Apr 15 I wonder how much of this Petracca news is related to his move from Connors Sports to Anna Scullie. She seems to have her head screwed on.

Not such a major drop but notable that he's out there less while also, apparently, getting around less when out there. One thing I noticed is that he slowed down a bit with his lightening quick disposals in the packs which used negate instantaneous pressure on him. That’s where the loss of impact comes from IMO. And also a slight decline in his pace. I saw him give up on several chases on Saturday where he could have done better.
April 15Apr 15 I have faith that they're both good enough to turn it around, and I love that Petracca backed away from all the investigations and just committed to the club and playing footy with less outside noise, I think that's very important and a great step from someone who is quite important to us. Would love to see him get the captaincy, and love to see Oliver just keep working because I think he will rediscover some form. The whole footy world knows what they're capable of, its in there somewhere, just need to find it again and I think they're genuinely trying and they care. That's the optimist in me anyway, I'm sure no one hates how things are going more than they do!
April 15Apr 15 Club stuffed up on the day of injury. Anyone who has watched a lot of footy knew it was a very bad one. Looked like the one Dipper copped which nearly cost him his life in the famous GF.

Of course his salary is at ~$1M per year. Other clubs would have likely paid him higher.I'm realistic in that he's not worth 3 x Top 10 picks. But a Top 10 and a Future 1st is fair value. Its a similar story for Trac 2xBF; 4xAA. He's a bit older (29) but probably will have a longer career given his professionalism and standards.
