Demonland 74,467 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Melbourne star Christian Petracca has sustained a cracked rib following a knock at training on Friday at Casey Fields. AFL Performance Manager, Selwyn Griffith, provided an update on the midfielder’s injury. “During today’s training session, Christian received a knock to the rib area in a contest,” Griffith said. “We sent Christian for scans this afternoon, which unfortunately showed a crack in his rib. “This is frustrating news for Christian, who was progressing well and had recovered from the rib and spleen issues he sustained during the 2024 season. “A timeline for his recovery will be determined in due course.” 3 1 1 Quote

Matt Demon 1,597 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Disappointing but he'll be back running in a few weeks and still plenty of time until round 1. He'll be fine. 11 Quote
Gator 18,055 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 A pretty common injury that won't effect round one. No biggie. 4 1 Quote

Demon Disciple 12,538 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Either he has done too many ab crunches (likely), or he hasn’t done enough (a scary thought). Quote

Deeoldfart 8,205 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) This is a disappointing setback for all of us, but I commend our Club for communicating the news immediately. This probably wouldn’t have happened a few months ago. Edited January 10 by Deeoldfart 9 1 Quote
Damo 3,466 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 No contact for a couple of weeks, then light training through Feb. Thats probable for tracc. The thing is we have had a very good pre-season otherwise. 5 Quote

DistrACTION Jackson 10,753 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This really would be almost a non-issue if he didn’t have the huge hit last year. Obviously the main concern is his mental capacity after this, but I guess it could go one of two ways, 1. It impacts him negatively mentally or, 2. He took a big hit, went to hospital and this strengthens his confidence. Time will tell. i guess the main concern outside of that is if his rib area is compromised as a result of the hit last year 5 Quote
