If he was in red and blue this weekend he’d be our #1 midfielder

Not much contention about that, WSWS. For us, with properly coached support, he'd be more than very handy.

Can’t argue with any of that. The Game style needs a big adjustment..

That is true but you need the players who have run and skill to do, that 30-40 metre darts instead of flop kicks having the awareness to make decisions quickly seeing other options quickly big pre season coming up if they are going to change.

Recruit this man to play a re-enactment of his hit playing VfL on Maynard next year.

Parker's best was epic but I wouldn't see him as fixing any particular problem just now or, obviously, for our 2027-8 premiership double.

Parker is one million times better than Billings & Hunter put together

Billings yes. Hunter no.

Hunter’s been a disaster this year but last year he was a good contributor to the side (particularly in the first half of the year) to the point that he was missed vs Freo due to suspension.

The value we’d get out of 2025 Parker would be equivalent to 2023 Hunter IMO.

He's perfect for what North Melbourne were eying Jack Viney for, a leader with premiership experience who will still contribute on the field and provide some leadership and experience in the locker room.

My suspicion is he'll be at the Roo's next year.

Can you imagine the implosions currently happening at Essendon and Carlton?

They are media darlings tho, especially Carlton, so it’s radio silence from Tom Morris isn’t it?  🙄

Let's be honest. We aren't a big club. The media have been longing for us to return to the bottom of the ladder so they can dig the boots back in.

During our dark days I was longing for an extended period of success so we would become media darlings. I pictured all of our players being labelled 'champions' for simple things. Post premiership we got it for a short period, but it was fleeting. It soon progressed to something else.

After a big win I would search for media reports about how good we were. All I got was articles about the big team we just beat along with a small mention like "Not taking anything away from the Demons. They were great."

Now we are out of the eight and the knives have come back out.

I don't know what to think right now. If Petracca and Viney aren't disillusioned like Morris has reported, then why haven't they come out and countered his rumours?

While I'm having a good [censored]... Is anyone else sick of Perts rinse and repeat emails that we only get in these situations?

He doesn't have a leaker at those clubs.

Class player who is maybe past his prime but still plenty of value to offer, would fit nicely.

PS: Only here would we argue over whether he's better or worse than the players that want to leave MFC as opposed to whether he could help MFC.

Who will we get as a replacement?  Think through the many players in this move.

Jack has already indicated NO according to advice.

Anymmore suspicions?

Maybe that the sun will come up tomorrow morning?

Many layers not players sorry

Different scenario. Parker is struggling to get a game.

Getting Parker reeks of Hunter and Billings. All are past their prime, and their clubs were happy to get them off the books.

Different sort of player actually. More complete and no doubt an upgrade on Lachie and Jack

Don't know, his best is epic, by the by Deemonstrative has the best idea so far.

If he passed an exhaustive medical and the desire was real and not looking for a pension maybe. He can be the trouble shooter that Brayshaw was, who was never quick but had positional awareness. Is an elite problem solver.

Wonder how chunky his contract is, if cheap I see no issue picking him up. Known goal kicker, strong leader and good midfielder. Played some good footy this year.

I don't think Hunter will be getting an extension..

Parker's best is behind him and I believe he once rejected an offer to come to the Dee's but I think he would be an ideal soldier.

Was that around the Dom Tyson trade period?

Yes may have been a 'Grand New Flag' level rumour though.

So what do you want Pert to say then?

At the end of the day, the club, players, fans will all move on from the specifics of the current issues. But it is the leaking that will take longer. How do you trust the player(s) responsible for this?

It's a no for me. Parker doesn't fit the age profile our list needs as we need younger players with 50 - 100 games experience who can have an immediate impact and will be around for at least the next 5 years. We should be looking for a 23 - 25 year old midfielder who can do this.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
