Resources coming our their wazoo and they have been mired in the bottom half of the ladder for years - incredible since the crows played in a GF in 2017 and the Eagles won one in 2018.

We won a flag the year after we last missed finals - something that can't  have happened too often in VFL/AFL history.  

Surely to Goodwin we get some credit for doing so in terms of clear evidence of our ability to bounce back after a poor season.

Or do we just ignore history and parrot and ampifly the media's doom cycle, club in crisis narrative?

True. ANd make sure you re-watch it late in 2025 because who knows what will happen in 2026.

Main takeaway from the new Tom Morris comments was that he said that Tracc wanted to go to Collingwood, not to a big club. Thought that was interesting. 

Maybe he has realised that the only way not to sustain a catastrophic injury playing the pies is to join them.

I wouldn’t be too worried. AI soon will be able to delete him from the 2021 premiership video. We will just see the ball that formally was in his hands do amazing things by itself.

Brilliant throughout this ordeal. He was as honest as he could be, he's a fantastic example of a leader. But not only about this issue, but his involvement in getting Clarry right, premiership captain, 7 time all Australian - Melbourne's greatest leader and one of the best on and off the field.

The places Tracc wanted to go weren’t willing to off anything realistic.

Im sure Carlton thought about Harry McKay but I’m also sure Harry thought about Melbourne for 1 second before saying ‘get stuffed’.

If there was anything remotely worth accepting on the table I think Tracc’s camp would still be pushing it.

All I am saying is that the media do not know either, but are incentivised to dramatise the situation as much as possible to get clicks/listeners/viewers. 

My position is that we do not know the true story.

All we know is that, for now, Oliver, Trac, Petty, Pickett are staying and Windsor, Roo, Kolt, Viney, Max re-signed,

which indicates to me that the club is not in disarray as the media wants you to believe.

I don't think Carlton killed this off, I reckon Harry and his management did.  The deal would have got done with Harry and picks.  Harry saying no way killed this for Carlton.

We will never know the behind doors conversation, I could imagine MFC saying to Petracca you want out get us a trade that works for us and we will consider.

Tom Morris reported that they said something about the club's communications around Trac's Noosa trip.

Did old mate sub Christian with Lever and May? 

Perhaps brand Petracca found out there was no market or way for a trade to a big Melbourne Club.

They should focus on cooking Tik Tok's and leave the footy side of things to the actual sports management team.

If he came out and stated that all the medi fuss was false then i would give him the benifit of the doubt.

It would be hilarious is Trac is not happy we didn't attract any talent in the offseason as he has made it almost impossible to sign anyone of quality

It may have been a mistake in terms of on field performance, but it wan't a mistake in terms of managing and supporting Oliver. With ADHD, he needs the routine and responsibilities of week-to-week games and of being part of the playing group. All of his issues surfaced when he was stuck alone in rehab for 8 weeks last year.

At his best, Oliver is one of the very best players in the AFL and in working to keep him in the fold and healthy the club made the right decision.

Yes Trac was told no trade could eventuate and kept going. I have posted that in here a few times

 

But the media also knew no trade could eventuate and still made him leaving the crux of their story

Today's Age has a further "fizzed" up story about CP5. As much as I admire CP5, his response was two weeks too late for my comfort and belief. I had almost (but not quite) resolved in my mind that his behaviour was rapidly becoming a distraction and a liability. He owes us big time in 2025.

But why do the media love picking on us? Is it because for 57 years we were not much good or is it because in the 50s and 60s we were so good? Or is it because we were part of the MCC or that we played on the MCG? Or is it because it doesn't hurt sales when picking on the dees?

I don't know but it is surely some sort of envy and lack of respect for us.
