Clarry is Gawn. It's done.

Being the younger of the midfield dynamic duo we better walk out with a massive gain from somewhere else and Petracca had better not bail as well in 12 months.

Otherwise pull the trigger now I say.

Is that your opinion that he's gone? Don't the club have to accept the offer that Geelong give?

I was worried he’d actually confirmed he wants a trade to Geelong but it’s just McClure doing McClure things again.

Pretty sure we’ve already traded Trac for McKay in McClure’s head haven’t we?

The club floated the trade. Not Clarry. Clarry is now convinced it's for the best.

The telling part is what we get in return.

Connors manage Clarry, Tracc and Houston and would have an intimate idea of what is going on. Let's leave it at that.

We spent all year backing him in.

As recently as last week he was all in for a big pre-season with us.

It doesn’t matter if he transgressed. We’re morons if we expected him to be a perfect model player after everything else. We had to know it was a risk, otherwise there was no point sacrificing our season playing him through his injury.

I find this all disgracefully poor management from the club. Not just Pert. Everyone.

I don't care if we get 5 first round draft picks for him, which we wont, there will never be another Clayton Oliver. We've won one premiership in 60 years and he wins the b&f and coaches award, dominates the premiership quater by taking out Bont, kicks the goal that seals the grandfinal and has been the best player of a generation.

I'd prefer us to stick fat with a club legend, who loves the club, family love the club and risk he doesn't get back to his best than let him go and see him get back to his best at another club which will destroy our culture more than it's already been

To misquote Damon Albarn, the club has no distance left to run.

If they dont have the stomach to send the circus out on another tour, we are not getting close to parity in any deal.

It's very, very sad.

Push has come to shove with Clarry, Chook? At least from the club’s perspective?

Geelong’s future first rounder for the ANB pick we get from Adelaide and us paying $300K of the $1 million average salary per year will probably be the most we could extract from Geelong.

Geelong won’t offer any player of note aside from maybe a Jhye Clark at absolute best.

So there’s a chance we could have nothing to show for Oliver for season 2025.

What a debacle. Breathtaking incompetence in the way this is being handled whatever the pros and cons of a trade. We are a laughing stock and Pert and Richardson must go.

If we haven't got sufficient nous, talent or people skills within the administration, football department ..... or whatever the [censored], to retain a player of Oliver's calibre then the MFC is a totally irrelevant and [censored] up organisation.

Norm Smith curse all over again. The greatest player of the modern era pushed out by an out of touch board.

Love Claz, but I’m pretty sure whoever the greatest player of the modern era is knows how to kick.

Our midfield was already paper thin for 2025, now it’s going to be absolutely cooked.

We’ll all watch Trac sit out the year and request a trade for 2026

Us!!! Be issue the media have already driven the narrative we’re ‘shopping him around’ therefore he’s worth nothing, well nothing close to what he’s actually worth and thus any trade would be CRIMINAL cus it’d be a future first, for an all time great level player all cus we don’t want the attention and extra care Clazz brings which even if u true is now the narrative!

Again, this is a case of the media driving the narrative to where we are now forced to either accept a poor trade or keep him and either way our list and culture are ultimately what suffers! Whereas if player driven, we could drive a herd bargain and ask for 2 top 15 picks — but media have ensured that the perception now is that the CLUB is driving this even if untrue..

if GP DID mention to few clubs ‘Claz is up for right deal’ so WHAT — it should never get out but clubs make sure it does cus (ie cats) if they leak it our market position is undercut and we become snookered!

The media! The media!!

I heard this phrase on an NFL podcast yesterday and it is very apt - stop pointing fingers and start pointing thumbs.

If we trade Clarry to Geelong for a future 1st and we end up paying anything of his contract, it shows how much we want him gone.

Would be disastrous, but telling...

You are correct, he was something we may never see again, particularly the consistency. He was the symbol for our club finally turning around.

But, never forget, the club is always bigger. Sometimes you need to move on.

I'm asking if you know for sure if he's gone. Sam McClure is the only one who has said that Clarry wants to be traded and even then he has said that Clarry knows that it will be difficult to get done.

I’m pretty certain that the media have completely fabricated this story just so they can use the pun, “Oliver’s Twist”, in all of their headlines.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
