Do we get him in as an assistant coach in 2025?

Depends, will it help or hinder a potential pursuit of Harley Reid in two years?

salient point

depends on who was sending texts to whom...

“OMG! He’s done it again!” “How does he know so much?” “Who’s his contact, I wonder…” “Handsome and amazing” “He really is the #tradewhisperer”

Ok ok.. calm down. Not one to blow my own trumpet, peoples.

  • Whispering_Jack changed the title to Adam Simpson departs West Coast

After his weekend presser I'm not surprised. My guess would be Don Pyke is next in line.

open season on meth coke players now, or does this actually make it less likely that they'll leave?

middle aged blokes i'd be keen to have a chat with:

  • tom barrass
  • jake waterman
  • liam ryan
  • jack petruccelle (vic lad)
  • alex witherden  (vic lad)

young'ns:

  • harley reid (vic lad)
  • rueben ginbey
  • campbell chesser
  • jack williams

a lot of their players are wa born-and-bred - given our sheer number of wa lads, they might feel right at home with us, weather aside

he's the ceo, so he's going to be appointing the next coach, not taking the job

Time to start putting some respect on Simon “Oppo coach career-ender” Goodwin

I'm all for getting ex-head coached as assistant coaches.

Dew, Sanderson, Simpson would all be good people to have in the coaching staff.

Suspect Simpson will be a head coach elsewhere though.

Isn't he CEO? I'd think Dean Cox

Before the meat market begins, I'd just like to pay tribute to Simmo.

10 years coaching in the west with a flag to his name. Like Goodwin, a philosophy based coach who doesn't like to swing the magnets around on gameday but believed in his system. I don't know what the overall feeling was among the fan base but the few WC members I know very well were right behind him until the very end.

He was up for the rebuild and seemed to do the best he could and up until recently it looked they believed in him. Don't know what happened behind the scenes but a good coach has lost his job and that's never nice. All the best Simmo.

How many is that now Smokey?

That'd actually be a good question for SirSwamp...

i expect he'll be back as a senior coach by 2027 or so

Lets not forget he coached the Eagles to a flag against the pies by under goal. Glorious day. We all should love him a bit

Most of my dodgy messages seem to come from Linkt or Medicare offices. They seem to originate somewhere near Bangalore. So I think WC should start their search there.

Can he play Ruck????

Nah. He just goes around kicking them in the leg. Just as bad as Darcy Moore.

After Tanking during covid years

he was never going to last

Unless he’s headhunted by the AFL for a certain area they have been having trouble getting to grips with?
I think the kids are pretty well grown up so he should be able to re-locate.
Might have to leave his dozen Hungry Jack’s franchises with a management trust for awhile.

Rich clubs like the Eagles can afford the million dollar soft cap hit.

I think Port would like their time again but I'm not sure they have the money to pay Hinkley out.

Questions could be asked at the end of 2025 if Dimma doesn't get the Suns a finals berth.

Beveridge.... who knows

Quite an unsettling time in coaching land

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
