For goal kicking the player with the best technique and accuracy is ......Ollie Sestan. Watch him at training with his setup technique and routine. JVR looks awkward but he is pretty good with his goal accuracy and Fritta has the runs on the board but occasionally misses one .

Did they define the best kick inside 50?

Was it the best kick from inside 50 or the best kick into inside 50?

I would probably agree ANB into but would bank Frittata from inside 50

Not surprised by this. Nibbler is consistently our most damaging midfielder linking up into the forward line. Petracca has flashes of brilliance, but usually is weight of numbers to aid scores. Our other midfielders are poor. Windsor hopefully develops this part of his game in future, as he shows promise with his short kicking to leading team mates.

ANB has limited opportunities, but he delivers when well-catered with time and space, plus the occasional set shot.

On his heels, in my humble opinion, Chandler can be an amazing 'outside, inside, set shot' wizard.

Of course, Sparrow has kicked a few from varied distances outside 50, but Goody does not seem to see his value in this attribute ...

This is best kick into 50, as measured by % retention - Nibbla’s had 20 kicks into the 50, 65% were retained by us (not turned over).

Tracc can bullet the ball 60m and create great scoring chances from nowhere, but he’s hit and miss.

The thing Nibbler does is play on or receive the ball in space, run with the ball, balance up and hit a target. He’s predictable to leading forwards.

And his run at a good speed combined with his ability to be patient and take a late hit if needed creates the targets he missed regularly earlier in his career.

Move quickly, with a purpose but without rushing is the lesson from Nibbler

Spargo was brilliant at this for two years and then it seemed to disappear.

ANB, Bowey and Windsor of our current players.

Salem at his peak, but seems to have lost dare and consistency.

I would love one of Eric Gulden, Jordan Dawson or Gryen Myers.

And deservedly so. It can’t have been easy to go in to bat for Nibs over and over, again and again and again in the face of set-in-their-ways, stubborn folks who refuse to give credit where it’s well n truly due, or rather, overdue. Binman’s a resolute and dogged supporter who knew all along that in Nibbla we have a consistently hard-working, loyal and valuable player. And a bloody nice guy, to boot.

Love Nibs to bits. ❤️💙

Jake Melksham peak 2018 could absolutely sizzle them 50m low and flat.

ANB

Trac

Bowsa

Melksham

Sparrow. Oliver. Salem.  Lingers.  Riv.
all struggle to hit a target.  Most float or kick sky high bombs.  Windsor also lacks the bullet style or direct pass.

Agree. It was a thing of beauty.

Best in no particular order: JVR, Fritta, Bowey, Chandler, ANB, Spargo, Melksham, Macadam, Jefferson, Billings and sometimes Petracca and Salem.

Not one of those named is defender.  Why...because they are at the other end of the ground!

The most likely to achieve this "statistic" are those who play just outside the 50m arc.

They are not necessarily the best kicks.

Let's make up another "statistic" of the best kicks out of 50m.  Just meaningless rubbish!

Pretty sure Spargs was the best kick inside 50 in the whole competition a couple of years ago. We need prime Spargo more than ever.

Kane Farrell, Brodie Smith say hello from defence. Karl Amon moved to half back in the middle of last year.

I would have thought plenty of coaches value retention of i50 kicks.  It’s an annoyance of mine that we are generally so poor at this statistic.  If we had retained 50% of our i50 kicks against Collingwood in the qf last year, we may still have kicked for goal dreadfully, but 7.22 would have got us over the line.  Like how the pies won the gf despite kicking 12.18!

Given this fact, wouldn't it be better to run ANB through the middle on a consistent basis.  And/or even sharing a winger role with Langdon or Windsor to have him bringing the ball in more often?

Yes i realise he's being played in the middle a tad more this season but it might be time for the FD to consider upping this substantially if poss...

Not sure if this is a compliment or insult

Reliable stylisation, on really good days, inspiring the whole forward line.

Assume it's a compliment and most aren't aware of who Vince McMahon is and his recently uncovered indiscretions!

Honestly, it was the name that popped into my head before reading..

ANB's disposal might have had some people in headbanging against the wall over the years, but the one thing he has always been quite good with is his kick into the 50. For whatever reason, he often seems to hitup a nice low and direct drop punt to only where his man can get it.

Not quite on the Melksham level of delivery consistency wise but you will never see Nibbler 'up and under it' with space running towards 50.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
