Clearly around his neck. No free play on !

I reckon it will be looked at and we might need to argue the case but that it will ultimately be graded as low impact.  The action started as a smother and finished with a brace with the shoulder contact being pretty light.  We might also argue the other player ran into Kossie and therefore the contact was reasonable.

Yep and the free against him for insufficient intent on the Wing was comical

He is clearly out of favour with the umpires

Fine. $3750 downgraded to $2500 with an early guilty plea.

I'm tipping this because that's the outcome I want!

That was the worst of the lot, I'm glad the players don't go off their nut like me at home with decisions like that.

no you were not, almost torn his head off

I preface this with saying I love watching Kossie play. But I’m not going to be able to watch him play next week because he will deservedly be sitting in the stands. His bump last night was dumb and unnecessary. Let’s face it, he has form and should be trying to eradicate that stuff from his game. If you look up the word mercurial I’m pretty sure there’ll be a photo of Kossie. We need him on the field, not watching form the box. I hope they have a pretty stern chat with him.

Yes, but unlike where you actually knock out a bloke early in a final and end his career and get off, this light impact will see potential to injure invoked and he will cop a week.

Kozzie is not a Pies player.

Yes on 4-5 occasions Dees were grabbed high and no free.  Howes, Kozzy and Clarry to name 3 obvious ones missed.

Kosi has to learn, and I rather he misses games early on in the season and realises the MRO will come down hard on him, than get suspended ahead of or during finals again.

He is still young, but gees he has to just cut it out. He is not achieving anything except hurting the team.

And for those who say it's laughable if he gets suspended, well if the shoe was on the other foot and Maynard did that to on of our players, you'd be out for blood.

It is just not a necessary action, especially to leave the ground and then raise the elbow. That is, and will continue to be a suspendable action!

I love Kozzy.

He's a huge talent and such an important player.

I really wish he could get rid of some of that behavior.

Look at May. He used to get in trouble.

Kozzys young so he can surely do it.

Needs to start now.

He's letting his team and his good self down.

Hell get at least a week. If you think otherwise you having been paying attention  to what's going on in the world of footy.

I'm a bit disappointed there are many on here that have the red n blue glasses on given what we've been through in this area.

Yes, Maynard was a bit worse and I was one of many here who wanted him gone for a long time. No two incidents are the same but this is a similar action - one difference Koz has led with the point of the elbow to the temple. He is lucky the player wasn't hurt more badly as there is potential for serious harm here whether it looks innocuous at regular speed or not.

Gus retired due to an accumulation of hits - most of them different to this, some self inflicted, but some were actually a bit like this.

We should know this lesson better than any and we should aim to be a better supporter base than what is being shown on here - he deserves at least a week and will get it.

If it was Maynard you'd be asking for four.

To anyone having a crack at Kozzy saying he needs to change, I have seen numerous occasions this season where he was running towards a player and pulls up at the last second, so he has definitely changed the way he goes about it.

This incident was a bit different to the previous bumps, given he was going for a spoil and then made glancing, side on contact.

Will either be a 1 week suspension if deemed medium contact or a fine if deemed low. Going off the Max King one the other day which was similar I would say they will grade as medium, but who knows with the MRO.

Asking for 4! c'mon mate that's ridiculous. Even if that was Maynard I would not be calling for 4

Didn't see a replay of it, so you must have been "seeing things" Bitter 😁

The 'accumulation of hits' line was disputed in what Angus said when he retired.

If it was Maynard I'd definitely be asking for mroe than 4, say 8,  as back-payment for what he did last year which was so many orders of magnitude than anything I've seen in recent times.

But yes, Kozzie should be in trouble.   Sadly, I can imagine if he was in a 'top' club (as defined by AFL corporate) he'd be much more likely to get a fine than a suspension.

That was a f'ing disgrace....

And not one mention from Channel 7 showed who they were barracking for on the night....

That amazed me also - total silence from the commentators!

That was a shocker. He was clearly trying to actually kick the ball forward and collect it, something he dies often - usually successfully.

The whole idea of umpires being directed by the AFL to favor a team is ridiculous.

But if you are the conspiratorial type, last night was smoking gun standard grist for the mill.

Big SA club, needing a win in front of a sold out home crowd at the start of the AFL's annual cash grab from the SA government.

And right from the get go - Kozzy getting his head taken off dead in front and no free - it was as if the free fix was in.

It was the same all night.

No comment about that obvious missed free, Rivers being shoved in the back, maxy getting shoved in the back, any number of dropping the ball we weren't paid, or the stupid insufficient attempt free against koz.

And no comment about Walker blatantly staging for a over the shoulder free.

If we had lost that game, it would have been be hard to argue the umpires were not a major reason why.

Fair call bin. And a claim that every team could make at some point during a season.

For a billion dollar industry operating the highest profile sport in the country, the standard of adjudication of the rules of the game is just plain ****ty.

As to what should be done about that ? I have NFI !

FWIW Riley Beveridge in his AFL website match report said a fine was likely because the impact was so minimal. Hopefully the MRO agrees.

Absolute worse case he’ll have a two week rest, be back for Anzac eve and be freshened up for season defining games against Geelong and then Carlton off a 5 day break.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
