Totally agree with Jon Ralph. They won the premiership six years ago. Just on that fact alone, they ought not be given assistance.

You don't

They spent two first rounders on Kelly. They have had the number 1 pick in 2022 and 2023. (They could have had L Jackson for example.)

Sumich's comments in this article in the Age are insightful

Weagles need to languish for 2-3+ DECADES before any assistance is considered.

Let them rot on the vine for at least another ten years.

that’s why they’ll get it. The AFL protect the strongest. Except when it was Melbourne in the 60’s.

Nope. They win a flag in 2018. Should be minimum 10 years before any type of assistance is offered. I’d be happy to watch them suffeR for a few more year.

Watching this new show Midweek Tackle and the panel just discussed it.
Sam Landsberger spoke to several clubs about this possibility today  and said one club came back with nah cause of  “self inflicted incompetence”.

Wouldn’t give it to them just yet.

Regardless of what assistance if any you think they should get, this is just further evidence this competition is not ready for / can not sustain a 19th & 20th team.

When we didn’t get anything after 2014 then no club ‘deserves’ to get any assistance ever again.

But NM gets assistance so WCE should as they are just as [censored].

Agree poor list management. Overspent on Kelly, paid too much to keep Nic Nat & his last years he struggled & overspent big bucks on keeping Darling & McGovern.

This is the only draught assistance WCE should be getting. image.thumb.png.a03a37ff4fa7e844b16a2bcf845e3c2a.png

As I understand it, they had more 'assistance' in 2005/06 than any other club. Hand back the 2006 flag and draft assistance will be considered - after which the answer will be GAGF.

They need it, but they should not get it.

The arrogance of that club 🤬. We might as well ask for draft assistance since we haven’t won a flag since 2021.

I certainly don't think they should be entitled to any top end assistance, if anything perhaps an end of first round selection that they're required to trade might be a good option to get some extra talent in the door. it's easy to forget West Coast are one of the biggest and most powerful clubs in the AFL, coached by a guy who's taken them to 2 grand finals, a premiership and has an incredible resume, they're in good hands, but it'll take them another 2-3 years before we see an upward trend in my opinion

I am not knowledgeable about the history of the club but, what happened between the MFC and the VFL/AFL? How did it fall from grace in two decades?

Very hard to imagine such an historic club and winning club could be left to wander in the wilderness for so long.

Genuine lol

In the last 3 seasons before this west coast won 15 games.

North: 9 and a draw. In 3 seasons.

By the way, in 2012-14 we won 10.

Tell em to get stuffed.

It was open slather. No salary cap. Collingwood almost went to he wall.

MFC was a division of the MCC just like their lawn bowls club etc.

In 1967 Richmond became a co tenant at the MCG. (Before that every supporter of another club would always come to the MCG game against us because it was the only ground where most could sit and watch a game in comfort)

The list goes on

Our zone was not as productive as others is another factor often mentioned

1. They are the richest club in the AFL and the complete opposite to North on the afl spectrum

2. They won a flag 6 years ago and played finals as short as 4 years ago - compare that to north or any of the expansion teams

3. Their on field predicament is purely self inflicted through sheer arrogance, poor list management and poor use of their recent draft picks

No [censored] way they should get any draft assistance - I genuinely hope they languish down the bottom or go Essendon mediocre style for the next 20 years !

The book ‘Between the flags’ covers this in quite a bit of detail if you're interested

thankfully there’s a happy ending too !

We went from 1964 to 1987 without playing in a final series and of course in those days there was not even a hint of assistance .WCE has been in existence for 29 years and played in 20 final series .Pretty obvious what my view is on any assistance to them .
