lol. I interpreted it the other way and at the time was wondering why Schache and Kolt were mentioned at all not thinking there were coming over particularly because they just played at Casey.

Poor Casey might need to pick some Demonlanders to play for them this week.

If Chandler is in doubt would they consider AMW? Has been consistent in the VFL and seems a like for like?

McAdam still seems a week or two away.

Didnt fly to Adelaide with Schache, McAdam and Kolt so I wouldn’t have thought.

has also been playing off half back in the 2’s so don’t really see that role being needed.

koltyn would be the perfect replacement for chin in the pressure aspect.

Am i reading the tea leaves correctly?

If the Kolt gets a gig this week, he has effectively leap frogged Sestan, Laurie & Moniz in a matter of one pre-season and a few games (Rnd 1 & 2 plus Praccys) at Casey.

I don’t see Tom going forward now he has slotted in down back, BUT that is obviously a possibility.

I am just unsure who Goody has less faith in now, Tommo or Schache.

God help me if we have more faith in Schache v Tommo

Schache is uncompetitive at Casey, please never again

I don't find that too surprising given he was a first round pick, and Sestan and AMW were both rookie draft players, and as such probably don't have the raw talent of Kolt. (That being said I understand that Sestan probably has a lot of raw talent including kicking skills, it's more a question of fitness capacity/ceiling).

Leap frogging Laurie is notable, but I suspect they see Laurie as more of a mid/forward, whereas Kolt and Sestan are both power forwards in the Petracca mode and are probably capable of playing closer to goal as a forward in Chins role.

BBB may be rested for Schache, as no point in destroying what's left of his knee, with a 5 day break.

Crows are not strong in key backs, so Schache could go ok.

Given the training reports of Chin looking upset, it could be Kolt in for his first.

I think Woey will get a full game, as he was sub and is fresh from Saturday.

As usual, I think you are right on the money, Red

Perfect time to rest BBB, if there is a perfect time

Wild stuff but I heard yesterday that Trac was sore. Is Kolt there for him? Laurie or Woewodin would step in for Chandler.

Side note; I loved Chandlers game. It’s exactly the type of game I think he can play consistently if healthy. He’s a tough little bugger.

Perfect time to rest BB sure, not for Schache though😂

Are you suggesting a debut for Jeffo, or just go with Fritter and JVR, who hasn't had great impact of late?

It's fair

Look on the bright side. We are playing Adelaide when they are in a slump and the same with the Lions. Win those two and we are setting up a solid launchpad for top 4.

Five weeks ago few if any would have thought we could win all three

Yeah I didn’t expect us to start so well. The next two games are no walk in the park. Both clubs winless and with the ability to play finals based on talent.

No. Petty can go forward as May will come in and if he doesn’t Tomo can come in to let Petty forward. As for Chandler, Koltyn could replace him or Woewodin could taking Billings wing/half forward role and push Billings further into the F50.

Slow start, Melk working really hard with trainers, looks super fit, players wandering out now. Tom Mc is in runners with left knee strapped. May and Clarry with main group. Clarry wearing hand guard,

Can I just say that I'm loving the commitment and spirit that Jake Melksham has shown since his ACL. He could've proudly retired last year, but has the hunger for one last shot. His professionalism in rehab is showing the rest of the list that we must not take winning for granted, this is our time. He's going to be an asset in the back half of the season

Thanks Bendigo D, Jibroni and all posters great training updates and you have thrown up some interesting scenarios regarding who will come in for who on Thursday night. Looking forward with great anticipation.!!

I completely forgot about training today at Richmond Oval, 🤦 i went and played mini golf with my kids instead.

Won't be able to make it Wednesday unfortunately.

Sound like a lot of sore bodies floating around will be interesting what sort or performance we get Thursday night.

The Crows will throw the kitchen sink at this one, they always do against us, they view us as the benchmark.

He is one of the best "team" players at the Club. He is in super condition and ready to go as soon as the medical staff give the go ahead. It was great to see him in Adelaide with his family. A great innovation by the Club to have all the families together for Easter.

After listening to a number of players speak about how they prep for short turnarounds vs standard weeks over the years, i suspect this week will be mostly about recovery, skills/touch, a bit of gym and ye olde strategy / match ups.

Certainly very little stuff, if any, that resembles the usual match sim or scrimmage / tackle type work.

Some very tapered tailored running / training loads (for some)

A significantly lighter week all round., especially for the more senior guys.  And also a focus on freshening the mind by not keeping the boys on the track for long and instead letting them do other freshener upper recreational activities that still keeps them exercising like a golf day / swimming or similar non-footy track stuff.

Obviously 5 days is a very short turnaround.

For me a win by any margin will be a super result, especially after the effort given on Sat night.

With a normal 5-day break during the season, teams need to consider the next run of games. Thankfully for us, we have this game, then the Lions 7 days later, followed by a 13-day break into the Tigers game.

It means we can be especially light on the track this week and not worry about long term fitness, given the larger break from our bye after round 5.

@Bendigo_Demon’s insight about how light todays session was, makes me think the players will look pretty fresh on Thursday come the first bounce.

I would really love to see Jake with a premiership medallion around his neck on the last Saturday in September this year. He could retire knowing he helped will the team to the holy grail with his dedication and persistence.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
