The good :

Brown, Windsor, Verell , Picket in the middle, Viney, Gawn’s first half, Petracca when he could be bothered, Lever

The bad:

fumbling, poor forward entries, Rivers , McVee , kicking for goal, missed targets, May, little sustained pressure, Lawrie’s disposal , Tomlinson impersonating TMac’s lack of agility .

Jesus joeboy, T Mac wasn’t even on the field, unless he was slow getting in and out of the food stands.

There was a clear directive to use the corridor more. However, with our poor disposal by foot (which I hope is just rust), we turned it over which meant we were exposed with players free/defenders out of position.

Kozzy was impressive in the middle with his clearance work, however he burned a number of teammates by continuing to wheel around the corner and bomb it into the fwd 50. If he gives the handball out to our exit options like Langdon and Windsor, they would be better balanced to kick the ball inside 50, leading to more efficient entries.

Neal-Bullen was given a significant amount of minutes in the midfield which I am not sure about. We lacked forward pressure inside 50 which he is renowned for with his pressure acts.

I really hoped to see examples of us hitting up the short targets in our forward line, but more often than not it was the same old tactic of bomb it in long, and hope for the best.

on both these points, i think that koz at least puts the fear of god in the oppo when he breaks into space with sheer acceleration and crafty moves

based on the two quarters that have happened for the 2s, salem and oliver will definitely replace nibbler as players who roll through the guts

LIKES;

- K Brown did some good things

- Caleb showed something from the 3rd quarter (albeit disposal and decision making a bit iffy but to be expected for first game at the level)

DISLIKES

- we looked awfully slow when we turned the ball over. No run. Tigs generally stayed wide and even then they put together chains of possession with next-to-zero presssure. Yes it was a scratch match but for a team that prides itself on being difficult to play against (and for a team that has a growing reputation of rolling over in important games) it was the absolute worst case scenario for mine, injuries aside

Rivers sat 3 wide under a hold, and was eased down the last 50.

Petracca was better for the run, Sat midfield and was eased to the line.

Windsor jumped the gates, got In a nice position early, checked off of heels, and had solid finishing sectionals.

GOAT came off of a 50m handicap and still went to the post under double wraps, close to the place getters.

Bowey came out sharp, sat up on the pace, and shown a nice turn of foot, a black booker.

Negatives.

May looked as though he needed the run.

Brayshaw came out the gates slow, and stayed slow - despite looking good in the yard.

Schache might be looking for a picnic circuit.

ANB, despite looking fit for a first up run, doesn’t look to have come back well.

You do know Gus didn’t play don’t you? Still, I didn’t see him get one possession.

Like- Kozzie in the middle

Windsor and Brown

The Kolt and Verrall showed a bit

Cobwebs blown out

Billings worked his way into the game

Dislike-

ANB in the middle

Howes in the backline (don't think he's a defender)

Schache's game but happy to see more airtime against Carlton

Commentators chatting during the VFL quarters rather than telling us who the hell was who.

At least they made the regular game commentators look good. A difficult feat.

He was one of my disappointments from yesterday.

We're screaming out for a forward with Petty, BBB, Kozzie and McAdam out for round 0, but unfortunately he did very little aside from a nice set shot goal and attended a few centre ruck bounces.

Contested marking is definitely not a strength of his, instead he requires silver service on the lead.

Any impressions on Tholstrop yesterday? I thought he would be more ready made having played against men in the WAFL and having a bigger body.

Have the feeling he will play well in either AFL or VFL early on. His chance may come once the season gets underway. Has some skills in tight no doubt. Looking forward to seeing more of the Kolt.

Not sure why anyone would be expecting much different from him TBH, runs around like a baby giraffe with very little defensive pressure.   His strength seems to be standing the mark.
