"Godfrey, in the top three at Melbourne for aerobic fitness alongside Cameron Bruce and Nathan Jones"

the story is actually about godfrey and was posted elsewhere, but im amazed that bruce is in the top 3 at the club. i believe godfrey and jones, but i thought other players up there wouldve been bell, jmac and davey before bruce...

nah davey would rule the anaerobic, but yeah i could see why bruce would be good. he's got the physique for aerobic exercise. to be honest i've never really seen him sprint, even at full pace he doesn't look to be going to quick. so maybe his body isn't very good at anaerobic exercise.

This thread is bizarre

Bruce has always been one of the AFL's fittest players Probably covers more ground than any other Demon

Shame he cant kick

i just wouldnt have put him in our top 3. he never seems to chase hard, and he doesnt seem to have the run all day capacity that godfrey has. im obviously confusing the ability to run all day with the ability to run hard. he probably spends more time on the ground than many of the others...fair call...

with regards to davey, he is definetly anaerobia, ut as we saw last weekend he has the ability to just run around all day...he found himself in the back mid and forward and various times so his aerobic capacity must be pretty good too.

you cant fault bruce on his application, his work ethic, his willingness to do the team things (i.e. negative roles), or his commitment (just because he isn't brock mclean doesn't mean he doesn't get his own ball, and go when he needs to). unforetunately for cam his kicking in recent times is one thing you can criticise.

he will finish his career having at least been AA once and probably a B&F

Why is it hard to believe he is top 3 fittest at the club? I'd say he was THE fittest, and top 3 in the LEAGUE if not injured. The guy was a cross country runner, and one of his main strengths as that he can run all day. He doesn't have the best pace, but he covers more ground on our team than anyone except maybe Junior I'd have thought.

easily believe it

I'm with Rogue, who seems to be with condemned.....

It really isn't that hard to believe.

it is not only easy to believe, it is easy to see it on the park every week.

considering bruce is not a quick player, how do u explain him consistently getting 25 possies a game. he runs his arse off all day, that's how he attracts the ball

Not chase hard?? Did you watch the Dogs game? He chased Griffin from half back to half forward, and while he couldn't match him for pace, it was a gut-busting effort. The constant Bruce-bashing amazes me.

Its amazing because it is a load of nonsense, I just dont understand how supporters can bash their own players. As much as I hate Collingwood they are at least passionate and u would rarely catch them bagging their own players

hey guys im sorry this thread went this way. it wasnt a bruce bashing thread - i love the guy, just wish his kicking was a little better. i can be an yze basher at times, but certainly no bruce basher.

obviously my mistake regarding bruces aerobic capacity, isuppose its just not really something ive ever really noticed before. i'll look closer before i post next time ey :P

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
