Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Was he 3rd in the 2km time trial ?

Wasn't aware he was that quick over distance. Seems to have a few evasive tricks up his sleeve, Can see him bedding down a spot if he gets some confidence . Has always looked a bit nervous with ball in hand.

He was recruited with Bowey as one of the two best kicks in the draft. We haven't really seen that from him yet.

Bailey if your reading this, the time is NOW.

Interesting that jnrmac and you both mentioned confidence, when I look at Bailey I see a kid that doesn’t look comfortable in his environment. So it probably is a lack of confidence, hopefully he can get inspired during this preseason perhaps focus on the Duke and the Kolt they both look very comfortable in heir own space.!!

Laurie is another who doesn't win enough of his own football, and who isn't tall or quick enough to compensate for that.

I honestly don't see a single AFL standard trait in his kitbag, and for that reason I don't think he'll make it.

Going a glass half full here. Baileys? Pleased the Club has stuck fat with this bloke. His performance for Casey v vfl sCats at Kardinia Park round 16 2022 sticks in my memory, as it was match winning IMHO . In less than optimum conditions his ball handling and delivery by hand or foot was self-assured and influential. Young Laurie should bottle it, because that’s what he needs to succeed.

You’re obviously in complete difference to the experts at the Club. JT and Lambie saw what we have seen ( you have missed ) in small doses admittedly so far but his injuries have definitely hindered his progress.

I thought his last quarter vs Swans in Sydney in Round22  was his best AFL form but was not really on song in the QF vs Pies.

Has this year to make his mark and looks super fit for the first time and I hope he gets a good run at it. Half forward or maybe in the centre or on ball are spots he would be suited to in a role that Sam Mitchell made his own for the Hawks.

Wish him all the best as he competes with McAdam Billing’s Spargs ANB Kolt and even Kossie so he will have earned it if he succeeds.

While not fast he has very good skills and disposal is one of them.

Like Jordon, not favoured by being at Melbourne.  Behind Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Sparrow, Brayshaw and probably Kossie as well in the middle.  That is the only place he has played at Casey, because the fore mentioned don't play there.

And please don't come up with the ...."he can play half forward" line.  He is too small and too slow, and sits behind a lot of other players currently in the 1sts.

Jordon is a capable AFL player. Laurie has not shown that yet and he has none of the athletic traits to have strong belief he will be good enough.

If he plays he will (and can) play half forward and up at stoppage similar to ANB I suggest. He is taller than Chandler and PIckett and ANB only has 3 centimetres on him. He has shown this preseason that he has built endurance (only behind Tomlinson and ANB in time trial) and whilst not quick he is not slow and makes quick decisions. I have not written him off surprising a few in 2024 and if he does that will be the role its in.

All 44 players on the list can make it, that's why they're there. And every year without fail, JT and Lambie are proven wrong about the 3 that need to be delisted to make space for the players that are brought in. Sometimes complete difference is proven correct. They're experts, not infallible gods

I should keep my trap shut, but when I saw your avatar had posted some news, I clicked on the thread dreading that it might be a contract extension. Hope Bill proves the doubters, including me, wrong this year!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
