Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

At least he’s into footy, albeit not the Dees. I have three sons, all born in Melbourne, not one of whom is even remotely interested in footy. I figure I must’ve committed a heinous crime in a former life… mass murder or something. That said, I sometimes wonder if their lack of interest in footy altogether is better than them being passionately into footy, but for another team. I guess I’d handle it ok, unless the other team was 🤮 Essendon 🤮 in which case they’d be dead to me. Simples 😉

Your healthy hatred for the Dons is commendable compared to mine.

Does it stem from 2000 ?

I don't barrack for the Dees either.

I'm a professional moderator and this is the only job I could get.

But I'm learning lots about Aussie Rules and it seems like a really great game!

The Demonland Lost Souls Club 😁

I am a Carlton supporter, checked out this forum and stayed after I saw numerous TISM references splattered around. Take that [insert balaclava clad emoji].

It is probably anathema to many, but I do have a 'second club' I support and it is MFC. I don't just keep an eye on their scores and catch a quarter or two here and there on tv. I catch almost every match on Kayo/C7 and even catch some live matches at the MCG (I had a 3 game membership for last season).

I wasn't born into a footy family, my parents are migrants and they followed the Saints as the first suburb they lived in was St Kilda. Most of my extended family followed Richmond, St Kilda or North Melbourne. There was pressuure/bribery on little No. 31 to follow the Saints, Tigers or Kangas. I rebuffed all of these overtures and threw my lot in with Carlton (more on that later).

In primary school in the 1980s I grew up in one of Melbourne's traditional recruiting zones in the South Eastern 'burbs and Melbourne footballers used to come to our footy clinics. I remember being excited that Robbie Flower came to one of our clinics and he taught me how to handball, afterwards I always kept an eye out for him in games. Ultimately that lead to me always having some sympathy for the Dees and I actively followed their rise in the late 80s and late 90s and was a fan of footballers like Stynes, Lyon, Schwarz, Farmer, Neitz, Yze, Leoncelli and Woewodin.

As for Carlton, I declared them to be my club as I was born in Carlton (at the old Royal Women's Hospital) and my local junior club were the Ormond Blues. It certainly helped that the Blues were a powerhouse in the early 80s. As a child I found the Navy Blue with the White monogram to be so stylish and elegant and having been born in the 3053 postcode sealed it for a young No. 31.

Had the Dees been a strong club in contention in the early 80s, I may well have barracked for them given the Demons footy clinic connections (and I thought the Demons nickname was pretty cool and that they were named after Melbourne rather than a suburb of Melbourne).

PS - I did spend a number of years living in Newtown, Geelong (as an adult) and I could see Kardinia Park from my balcony so I would go and watch the Cats sometimes. I never really developed an attachment to the Cats like I did with the Demons though.

No, Deeves. No, it doesn’t. It goes waaaay back. Put simply, I was bullied at high school - verbally and physically - by four feral Essendon supporters who, as a matter of course, made the life of any and all new girls a misery. They were the bogan equivalent of mean girls. Unfortunately for me they despised Carlton, and since this was during my time masquerading as a Carlton supporter (as explained earlier in this thread) I copped it far worse than previous new girls, according to students who’d seen them in action before. I never knew how they felt about the Dees because there was only one Melbourne supporter in the school and he was a popular year 12 student. So I’m guessIng they might’ve eased up on me a little had they known where my allegiance truly lay.

What would you do if you had the trifecta Essendon 😬, Carlton 🤢 and that team in black and white that I won't dare to utter its name 🤮🤮🤮.

Nah, three of them going for Essendon would be the worst case scenario because they’d gang up on me, and because Essendon 🤮

Yeah nah, not buying it, No. 31. You sound exactly like me when I was harbouring an undying love for the Dees but was masquerading as a Blues supporter.

JK. But over the years I’ve spotted a pretender on several occasions coz as the saying goes, it takes one to know one. Of course, they all denied it, but I know when I’m talking to someone who’s living a lie. 😁

OK now you’re pushin’ it. This is still a Dees forum, you’re lucky to be here.

PS: you misspelled F.L.0.G.G.E.R.S 😉

Haha, I will tone it down. I wish for a competitive and sporting football season in 2024, one where Collingwood doesn't make the top 4, Essendon goes another year without winning a final (or even making the top 8) and the Dees and Blues both go deep into September ...

I was compulsorily annointed a 'scray supporter to even out the supporter base within the family (either Tiges or Dogs). Must of got sick of not winning and told my dad I wanted to barrack for the Demons, as they were 'winners'. This would have been in the early 60s. My dad said no one can switch teams and tried to talk me out of it by being told someone important was no longer at the MFC (Barrassi and/or Smith, I don't remember which). But I must have been adamant and I would have been about 7 or 8 yrs old. Suffice to say it was the beginning of a severe drought. During my childhood, I only got taken to a couple of matches ($'s were scarce), none of which Melbourne won. I suspect dad was selective on which matches we went to, as there were few spectators, and I wasn't allowed to leave when the game was lost by 3/4 time. He kept saying he'd seen Melbourne kick 10 goals in 10 minutes but I never did see that happen. Dad was big on hard lessons!

Fast forward and find myself in WA in the late 80s. Scarcely any, except depressing news, of Melbourne's fortunes. West Coast enter the comp and even less news.

But hey, I witnessed first hand the magic of "that" premiership, for which I am eternally grateful. That evening was blissful compensation for every last depressing and disappointing period since I chose to barrack for the Dees, decades ago.

Well, that was cathartic!!

In The year 2000 I was loving Auskick so I started paying attention to the media. I was hearing and seeing snippets about popular players but the Melbourne players seemed exciting. I then chose to support the demons through the finals campaign, much to my disappointment.
I must be a sucker for pain because every year I loved the demons more and more.

My mother and her family were all Collingwood supporters.  When she was a young woman she went on a few dates with Bernie Massey who was a MFC player in the 1960s.  She switched her allegiance from the Pies to the Dees and the rest is history.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
