If we give up all these picks to get ND1, I am certain WCE will give us the 3rd/4th round flotsam to fill our list.

I say this because I think that is a concern for some on here for some reason…

I just watched this video, was from 5 months ago, but seems spot on. And if we get this kid he could be a 1 in generational player

No 💩 Sherlock

A lot of eggs in one basket.

On the other hand, it's only one basket, the 2023 one.

Could someone update us on how we'd be placed at the 2024 draft after a possible/likely wash-up of this trade period?

Ta.

Norf have it in the bag. But it says a fair bit about the lack of key position talent that they are prepared to add yet another midfielder.

We give 6, 7 (from GWS salary dump) and pick 11 for pick 1.

WC give pick 6 and 11 for norths pick 2

Melb get 1

WC 2 and 7

North get 3, 6, 11 plus the rest

That means WCE will get Curtis at 2 or 3.

Would have thought 6 and 7 is plenty for pick 1.

What player do we get from GWS attached to their salary dump?

Haynes

Not a bad player. Experienced mid sized defender. Good depth.

Lol at nobody caring about the player btw 😂

I wonder if we'd look at playing Haynes as the third tall. A very good interceptor in his day. Used to playing in a slingshot defensive system.

We give six and 11 for North's 3 and 18.

North give 2 and 15 (and probably more) for West Coast's 1.

North take Reid at 1 and still have 6 and 11 to play with at the premium end.

West Coast gets their boy Curtin at 2 and have at least an additional first round pick for their trouble.

We get [Taylor's secret herbs and spices] at 3 and [Taylor's pulled beef slider] at 18.

Rationale is that North have late first round picks coming out the ears and no real need for them, but 6 and 11 are pointy enough to matter to them. West Coast have to rebuild a list and want those extra late-first round picks, but also would want to be sure of getting Curtin, making 2 necessary for them. Meanwhile we always have our eye on some gun at the top of the table and have a record of drafting high-low rather than a spread.

Yeah, I know, just playing a game of 'nearest the pin' here.

West coast wants local boy Daniel curtin which they will be able to get at pick 6. They won’t risk pick 1 with Reid only for him to move on after 2 years.

Throw in pick 11 and next years 1st round and essentially they get 3 x 1st rounders for pick 1.

That almost puts them ahead in the trade. This deal will get done

If we were able to do a salary dump deal with GWS to net pick 7, would 6 and 7 get Harley done?  Surely 6,7,11 is too much?

I’d rather take 6, 7 & 11 to the draft myself

In his day..then he was the prime interceptor in the late Leon Cameron years where they’d always generate a spare for him and he’d use it like treacle. Any time he did move it, it was slow, sideways and ineffective. Made Lever look like a skilled rebounder.

Id be a no. The draft pick might be great but having a player just filling out time on a huge salary seems like a bad cultural fit.

Cultural point is a fair one, but disagree with the rest.

I’m feeling inclined to agree.  The thought of Reid is very tempting, but 3 Round 1 picks could possibly set up our list for 15 years.

3-way trade perhaps?

Melbourne

Out: 6, 11, future 1st

In: 1

North Melbourne

Out: 3, 18

In: Pick 6, 11

West Coast

Out: Pick 1

In: Pick 3, 18, Future 1st (melb)

Maybe some other picks to balance. Any deal unlikely if Roos are set on Reid.

North are inept but they’re not that inept that they trade away pick 3 for an upgrade in the teens

I love it the way we have 6 one in a generational player.

Haynes would be great, would free up Riv to play a bit more midfield.
